You can start in any month of summer season... Don't wait for the best time... Today is the right time and only you can make it best for you 👍

Holes are required to drain out the the liquid that produced during the decomposition of green material. If you can maintain the carbon-nitrogen ratio properly then no need of more holes.

No bad smell, Blackish Brown color, porous fine particles and no hard matter left.
