Thanks for the tips. For me, I deal with sensitive, acne-prone, and oily skin. I apply litelextrra rice berry vitamin c face serum in the evening. It's really good because it doesn't clog my pores. A few weeks back, I used up my first bottle of the serum. It brightened my complexion. I am getting very good results from it.

@La Fa Yes, I also use retinol. Olay Retinol 24 is amazing 😍 I've taken Vitamin C 1000s for years and currently using topical vitamin C cream C.E.O. by Sunday Riley. It's so good!
I just started vitamin c serum a month ago and went in for a consult for a facial procedure with a plastic surgeon and she said I have great skin...I'm 42. Vitamin C serum works ppl.
I have to say you are the physician-vlogger I trust the most. If I can ever afford a face lift, I'm going to find you! Thank you for your presentations.
I've been using a Vitamin C serum for a year now (I'm 49) and it's definitely faded some old sunspots and acne scars. I think it's slowing down the aging of my skin, especially considering the amount of stress I've been under. I would love to see videos on a couple of topics: 1) menopausal skin care, and if menopausal supplements help the skin, and 2) face yoga; I get a lot of ads for apps like Luvly, and I wonder, can you actually exercise your face? And does it have an effect? Thank you for your videos, which explain everything from a scientific but easy-to-digest perspective!
I use face exercises to improve the jaw muscles, a nice squared jaw. And exercising the neck such as the trapezius muscles which in turn lifts the turkey neck.
Hello! If you are interested on face yoga, I highly recommend you to look for Fumiko Takatsu from the Face yoga Method, ☺️ I've been doing face yoga and it really works to tone the muscles on my face
I am 62 and have taken vitamin C orally (1000 mg) for decades plus eat a ton of fresh fruits and veggies daily. No fillers or other procedures. Gentle face wash, and Strivectin face cream. Most people think I am in my 40s. Folks used to think I was even way younger a few years back but I have had some serious pain, sleep and trauma issues catch up with me. Recently started using topical C and some retinols as well. I am not sure I can see the results but I certainly feel them. I also started using Olay Retinol face cream at night and feel great. P.S. I used ("keep them guessing with...") Oil of Olay until a couple of decades ago when they changed the formula and I didn't like it anymore. Switched to Strivectin.
This is so accurate, vitamin A (in retinoid form) and vitamin C, in conjunction with hydroquinone and exfoliant are a game changer with drastic results.
Hi, thanks for your views. I just want to ask do i need to use retinol, vit c and hydroquinone separately and can one with sensitive skin use vit c. Thanks🙏
I appreciate your videos so much, you are the first person to explain things on such a manner that I actually changed my skin care routine 2 months ago to add retinol, now I'm going to add vit C, didn't want to add everything at once. My skin is already looking better. I had to take it slow with introducing retinol, I now only started using it ever night this week. I can definitely see my skin is starting to improve a bit already. I've become very serious about sun screen the last year, using it every day, also using it for my daughter (14months) every day. I hope that I will be able to instill the good skin routines in her life as natural habits. Thank you again for these videos, I don't often comment on videos, let alone such a long comment.
I want to employ wearing dark scarf on my face to avoid sun damage. 😢 people should show their gratitude and buy your products for all the excellent complimentary information you are providing us. ❤❤❤ once I was eating too much citrus 🍊 fruits and my skin was glowing but it’s bad for my stomach issue.
Vitamin C: one of the ingredients I have always left out of my skin care, because my understanding was that it is so unstable that it would degrade before it got used. Unless it were in a package that would allow for neither the entry of light nor entry of air into the product. Which always sounded practically impossible.
Great video! Vitamin C serum has been one of my must haves in my AM routine for close to 20 years. Back then we only had super pricey Skinceuticals available...Thank goodness we now have so many more affordable options. I appreciate you also addressing dietary and oral Vitamin C which is just as if not more important. I've been loving the new Lypospheric Vitamin C formulas that are now available. Love your videos!
@@JuliaShalomJordan The Ordinary has multiple different Vit~C products, which one do you use? Also, have you tried their new eye peptide serum? It's more expensive than most of their other products, but it looks good. Ever try their wrinkle relaxer, Argeriline? (Spelling?)
@@elsabeautyntHi, Elsa. All the derms I follow and read say yes, you can and _should_ use vitamin C in the morning, but make sure you follow it with adequate sunscreen! There are studies showing that vit c’s antioxidant effect actually help boost sunscreen’s protection from UV damage.
Dr.Karam, I have been using the Trifecta products for 3 months now. Very timely video, as I do see improvements with your Vitamin C - Quench serum. Dark spots have lightened and my overall skin tone looks so much better. I never thought that at age 66, I could actually improve my skin. I have been consistent with the AM & PM routine of the Trifecta......looking forward to continuing with this new regimen. Thanks so much for the educational videos!
Your videos are always so informative in such an elegant and classy way. Which makes them not only educational, but relaxing to watch. Thank you for all of the time you put into these, I hope to one day give you a visit when I feel I've reached the time in my life when I'm ready for surgery. You are hands down the best at what you do.
Dr. Karan, thank you for your thorough presentation on vitamin C. You have always gone above and beyond to give your audience the knowledge of each topic . I have learned so much from your presentation. I look forward to your next topic.
On the KARAMMD page for the Trifecta product line there's this question and answer: "Do I need to use sunscreen with KaramMD? Yes! Sunscreen should be part of any routine so we added our favorite right here." But, I didn't find any named brand listed! Can you please tell me which one you recommend? Thanks! Greatly appreciate your dedication to healthier, more youthful-looking skin for all of us!
I’m 47 and have been using vitamin c for about 20 years…yes! It really is a game changer.🙌🏻 Although that doesn’t stop me from wanting a Karam facelift one day!😅🙏🏻
I started using Vitamin C serum on my face Espically my under eye bags ,within the first night My bags were almost gone ,now I use it a few times a day ! Also a moisturizer on after it dries!! 👍💞
@@elainelaguna3132 Yes,I let dry the mosturise ,It really works,I'm 64, and every morning I used to wake up with big bags, not anymore,Can't B elive it works!!!👍💞
DR Im so inlove of you you are súper handsome and a wonderful surgeon! What more a woman can ask for? I pray I find someone like you!! You are amazing i loveyou!!!
I use 1% tretinoin nightly and rotate vitamin c and copper peptides every other day. Daily, I use a hyaluronic acid serum, modulating glucosides, a barrier cream and sun screen. I'm so happy with how my face is feeling. I used to use tret without the vit c or copper peptides and found my skin was getting fatigued and overly dry. These other actives help to keep the skin healthy and glowing.
@@CherylBerryl modulating glucosides is a NIOD product. It contains squalane among other things and is a barrier repair serum. I use it because the tretinoin can cause barrier disruption and I find it just overall helpful in keeping my skin calm and healthy. All the products I use are focused on anti-aging and barrier support.
I've started using retinol eye cream and it has caused sooooo many new wrinkles and fine lines under my eyes!! is this part of the purging process? do I keep using it and hope that the winkles will go away? I feel soooo horrified. I'm moistuzing my eyes like crazy now but the wrinkles are getting worse! should I stop the retinol?
i've been using a high quality 20% Vitamin C serum w/ferulic acid in it, in the morning for over a year. It has done nothing for my skin, that I can tell. I have a few tiny sun spots on my cheek; they look exactly the same, as far as I can tell. It's also done nothing for dark undereye circles. I've also been using an expensive Retinaldehyde serum lotion on my face nightly. Neither has apparently does much, if anything, for pigmentation issues like dark undereye circles and those tiny sun spots. i wear a mineral 50 UVA-UVB lotion daily and don't spend a lot of time in the sun. The Retinaldehyde lotion does seem to have made my skin better as far as thickness of skin and minor wrinkles. I'll continue with the Retinaldeyde but not buy any more Vitamin C serums, since they don't work for me. Maybe taking Vitamin C supplements would help. And maybe IPL is needed for those tiny sun spots, and retinaldehye and sunblock will help prevent them from returning. Don't know if IPL can be used for undereye dark circles.
Thank you Dr. Karam for a very good video. It is very informative and educational and I find that the Vitamin C is something I feel working as soon as I use it. This has been a great class on having youthful skin and I thank you.
@@dramirkaram…..Hello, we’re constantly told to get vitamin D from the sun. How can we healthily get vitamin d from the sun while protecting the skin at the same time? Thanks!
It will oxidize over time. How will you know? It goes from being a very clear light yellow to a darker yellow. It’s also best at least I do this to keep it in the fridge at a stable temperature. You can try Dr. karma’s Vitimin C, some like Timeless and I have been using Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. Vitamin C can come in a stabilized form meaning that it’s like a cream but most vitamin C’s are very similar to a light very very light oily substance. SkinCeuticals, CE Ferulic has so much clinical data to back it up! I hope this was helpful. Take care, Susan from Canada. PS. I always, always wear sunscreen of a 60+++ winter, summer, spring, fall. We actually don’t get a lot of sun here in Canada however I have been using sunscreen since my teens and I never ever laid in the sun.
I like the trifecta - tried a few products that have been promoted by physicians on RU-vid. This one is a winner - goes on smooth, and my skin looks glassy / youthful.
This was awesome. Vitamin C is actually my favorite skin care ingredient. I use the Timeless Vitamin CE serums four days a week in the mornings and I use the tretinoin at night. Im thinking about increasing my vitamin C use to 7 days a week or at least 5 days a week but then I’ll have to figure out when to use my COQ10 serum. 🤔. Definitely first world problems but again, awesome video!
@@alabaster193 yeah the timeless COQ10 serum is really good. I take COQ10 orally as well but I like to give my skin a break from all the actives I use like vitamin c during the day, tretinoin at night and glycolic acid on the nights I’m not using tretinoin. Dr. Dray did a review on all the timeless serums.
I layer my serums and creams. Start with the watery ones, then layer the lotions, then creams. I've take vitamin C and CoQ10 as well as dozens of other supplements for decades. It keeps me looking and feeling young and I never get sick.
Excellent presentation!! I use Vitamin C topically and supplement. Is it important to apply as your first ingredient on dry skin and wait before applying the rest of your skincare routine for maximum efficacy? Thank you so much.
Water degrades the efficacy of vitamin C so if it's put on a wet face, it becomes less effective. As far as your other creams, bc Vitamin C is so unstable, you want to assure your vitamin C has absorbed into your skin before applying anything else - there are so many ingredients in skincare & you don't want any to destroy your vitamin C.
What should the vitamin c serum be like? What is a must have in components and their percentage? Im using vitamin c but dont know if its good. Thanks for your education! 🙏❣️
Love and appreciate your informational videos. Please show more relevant pictures of aged people , young models don’t do justice to the antioxidants real power.
I have used topical Vitamin C for about 15-20 years...from my mid to late 30's...I am 56 now...thanks for covering the topic...I love my current formula of Vit C and Ferrulic acid..I eat a whole food plant based diet as well and I get a ton of nutrients...C included..I so appreciate your videos..they are always honest, insightful and relevant to so many of us...thanks so much...also, I so agree from experience that retinoil/retinoic acid as well as sunscreen (mineral based barrier like you suggested are amazing), really since the acne days have really helped my skin to look amazing at almost 60....love that you explain things from the cellular level in the skin...thanks for breaking it down and making it simple with what is effective..
@@liamford6249 I use Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum with Ferulic acid...but there are so many out there...I do love this one and it is vegan, cruelty free, effective, in an amber glass bottle (not plastic) and it's about $30 bottle for one ounce and can be found easily in most places...
Thank you ❤️ 🇺🇾 very much. I Didn't know the importance of the proteins for the production of collagen, I'm using C vitamin in my every day routine and the results are good for my age, Wish you well.
I would love to order the trifecta but was shocked when the shipping came to $75. I live in Australia and so when the total order came to over $300 I baulked. Is there anywhere in Aus that I can purchase locally?
Excellent advice & your explanation is easily understood… thank you… 😊..I already have been using “vitamin C “ for years, but was hesitant to use Retinol combined ,as I have sensitive skin, ( as do many other people) … however your explanation has put meat ease …. Great info …
Sorry, I know I'm late to the party, but what a GREAT INFORMATIVE video! I had NO idea that vit C works in all those ways!! Thank you for your explanations!!👏😁❤

I’m 40 but everywhere i go people around me think I’m 20 something even those 20 yr old get surprised when they find out i’m 40. I take vit c 500mg a day, I notice the difference when i wake up in the morning when i skip.
That used to happen to me too but then I turned 50 and things started going downhill. Look after yourself well now and you should look a lot younger forever. Don't take it for granted.
Ich tue ein paar Tropfen Zitrone zu meiner Gesichtsmaske. Quark Honig Banane und Haferflocken. So einfach und gûnstig und wirkt hervorragend gegen Pigment Flecken.
I want you to know I have my coffee with you every morning.I can't tell you how much I appreciate your information and if I could afford you, You would be the only surgeon I would ever ever see. Thank you so much.
Hi Dr Karam. Can you please share insights on tretinoin and facial hair growth. I watched Dr Dray’s video where she discusses tretinoin for hair growth. I was surprised to read so many comments of women saying they have noticed quite some peach fuzz after using tretinoin. I went down this rabbit hole and goggled this, came across many threads where women reported facial hair growth after starting tretinoin.
Thank you so much for this informative video. I’ve been using Vit C Ferulic Acid religiously for over a year. I can honestly say I have seen a huge difference in the brightness in my skin. My skin is so sensitive. I am unable to use retinol. I used several other serums and moisturizers. The holy grail is my zinc sunscreen. Is your Formula appropriate for sensitive skin??
What is a good alternative to Vitamin C serum? I have tried countless brands, some with as little as 5% Vitamin C, and my dry, sensitive skin cannot tolerate any of them. Currently using and liking Timeless coq10.
Thanks Dr. Amir Karam for the details explanation on vitamin C for topical and oral. Currently (in Malaysia) I notice that many aesthetic centers are offering iV drip for Vit C and other vitamins. They claimed that it's more effective as it goes into the bloodstream directly. Personally I think it's dangerous as overdose of Vit C have damages to the body especially on the kidneys. What's your thought on vitamin c in the form of IV drip? Thanks
I just wanted to mention that Vit~C IV drip is very safe. And as long as you have a qualified professional, there really shouldn't be an issue. The body can handle Large amounts of Vit~C, especially when it is actively fighting disease. However, large amounts just for no reason, really doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The healing of diseases with high dose Vit~C IS being suppressed by Allopathic medicine hierarchy.
What do you think about vitamin C powder? Like L Ascorbic Acid mixed into a water based serum right before application? I'm sick of paying 100-200$ for serums that go bad, oxidize so quickly so I've been using a powder for a while now.
