Here I introduce you to the wonderful world of womas! These unique snakes make an excellent addition to any snake collection. Watch to learn why! Music by Bensound
About a year ago, I got a baby Woma from a store that the staff referred to as “The Pumpkin King” because of his coloration and the little black spots on his eyes. Because of this, I ended up naming him Jack! He’s my very first snake and since his adoption he’s grown so much! He’s almost two feet, absolutely ravenous for chicken-scented mice, and a complete sweetheart. He nipped me one time, but it’s only because I accidentally spooked him. Other than that and a little hiccup with his feeding early on (he was terribly picky his first month) I couldn’t have asked for a better first snake. I really wish there was more appreciation for these funky little snakes. Keep up your awesome work!
I have a 6month old Woma python and he is absolutely puppydog tame. It's amazing, I was always told that womas are cage aggressive and have a really high food drive. But in my experience, i beg to differ. My boy is fantastic.
There were some idiots giving Ed some hate in one of your videos, I just want to say that what they were saying isn’t true, you guys are an awesome couple and there’s nothing wrong with Ed. Sorry if this seems weird, but I hate it when people give hate.
Just a Potato 🤔🤔🤔 there’s nothing wrong with either of them.... I don’t get why anyone would watch these guys if they didn’t like one of the people in the duo
Wow some things there I didn't know. i work at an animal sanctuary called Potoroo Palace in NSW Australia and we have a beautiful woma python 🐍 now when we do educational talks with the public we have some new info to share. Thanks so much ❤️
I can't wait until you guys have baby womas available. ^_^ I saw one of these at a reptile show when I was a teenager and it just blew me away. 15 years later, I still haven't gotten one, but they're on my list.
I was researching woma pythons because I'm thinking about getting one, and a website brought me to your video! I've actually been watching this channel for years, I just thought it funny that in my search I found a channel I like
Thanks for the video! I just got my first woma python (a 6-month-old female), and I'll be picking her up to bring her home in a few weeks. :) I'm super excited for her to join the family! The breeder from whom I purchased her has definitely been "power-feeding" her, which I will be changing to a more reasonable schedule once she's in my care. I'm not really looking to get into breeding, and I'd rather that my snake have a good long life ahead of her.
Wow they’re gorgeous! That’s so excited that you have a breeding pair! And you could probably give some more breeding pairs to your other breeder friends! Here’s hoping conservation efforts are successful!
I have a deposit down on a gorgeous baby male, just waiting on a warm shipping window, shame it's December. I'm really excited! Thanks for the video! Beautiful womas.
Hi my name is ryan i live in australia and happen to come across yout video aand would like to thank you for explaning the issue with smuggling of these animals out of australia. We have some tough laws for a reasion just recently 200 reptiles well seized in WA on there way to the black market it not only crule but also makes it harder for us to keep our own animals here. I happen to have a few bredli carpits as well as a few geckos of witch womas will deffently feed on. There are good numbers of both bredli and womas in captive populations compared to 10 years ago. You seem very knowledgeable and i admire thatmyou serch out the infomation for your blogs.
Spending my Saturday morning catching up on your videos. :) Now I want a sulcata, giant hognose, woma python, salamander, and a bull snake (which I wanted before today). ;) I'm not getting any, of course, but one day I'm going to design my yard to be the perfect tortoise habitat.
Great video! I'm currently researching what to get for my first snake. Luckily, I live in Australia so these beauties are readily available. I love the eyebrows :D
Thanks for the interesting video! I came across it because Billabong Sanctuary's go-to photo/handling experience snake is a Woma python, and I wanted to get to know a little more about the species (so that when people ask questions, I don't sound quite as clueless, but I am only on work experience, not a reptile expert haha)
Emily, you should definitely look into getting a children's python or a stimson python! Two other native Australian species that are also the result of illegal pet traffickers, and they are just GORGEOUS snakes! Children's pythons are the ball python of the Australian reptile trade (we're not allowed non-native species here, to prevent biosecurity incidents like the Burmese python issue in Florida), they're lovely small first-time snakes, very calm and friendly.
I love this channel because I learn about species I've never heard of before. Very beautiful snakes! Are they easier to care for than ball pythons due to their lower humidity requirements and better feeding responses?
I'm Australian! Also do you mean the bush not woodlands And your right most snakes in Australia I love your channel especially because I love reptiles so much I think your channel is so good because I'm not aloud to have a snake till I move out But I'm only 10 Thanks for making cool videos
Hi Emily, I've been reading that wild Woma's tend to grow to 8 feet and get darker in coloration when they grow older even lose the orange yellows on their heads. Is this any different with captive bread Woma's. And is it true that captive bread snakes tend to get smaller during many generations of breeding. Please comment, you guys have the best snake vlog by a long way, I love it! Thanks.
Could you please do a video on your California red sided garter? I’m so interested in adopting one but I have some educating myself to do before I can even consider it!! Thanks!
Thinking of getting one...however the one I have been interested in I have been known likes to taste things ( bite). Could this trait be lessened w handling? Your opinion??
I just got a 3 year old woma python and hes so mean. He will just randomly bite me and it's just totally out of the blue. Like he seems super chill and relaxed then chomp! I've owned a ton of snakes but have never met one that you cant tell is going to bite. It's crazy. But hey his beauty make up for his bad attitude
It's funny, I came to this video after seeing a woma python on an Australian zookeepers channel where he mention that womas are known to eat king browns or mulga snakes, only to learn that mulgas also eat them. I suspected as much, they grow to similar sizes and both eat other snakes, I guess it's just about who gets who first.
Although you Aussies cannot get non-native snakes, the snakes you have in your own backyards are the coolest. My only snakes these days are Australian (Childrens/Stimsons pythons.) I am so glad we in the US do have some of these available.
