BJJ has too many belt categories to be taken as seriously as wrestling or judo. Not the athletes’ fault obviously. I think white and blue combined, and then purple, brown, black combined makes more sense.

Honestly I truly respect Cole such an hard worker as the rest of AOJ members. If I'm not wrong they should do six sessions per day. Well deserved, sky is the limit 🙏🏻

Genuine question: Cole is one of the top jiu jitsu athletes in the world, right? Why he is not a black belt?

The IBJJF has regulations as far as a minimum age you have to be to obtain a belt and a minimum time spent at a belt. Blue belt is 2 years, purple is year and a half, and 1 year at brown before black.

Cole seems like a strong guy. As a purple belt I didn’t see alot of “technique” to make me think he’s very good. IMO he seems like a good well-conditioned grappler, good on him.

Yeah but mica is a grappling prodigy. Who have done, besides bjj, also wrestling, luta Livre, judo, and beach wrestling. And also have black belt in luta Livre. I think also a brown belt in judo. Started very young.
