+IUse TheForce The reason you can't see them is because you haven't taken into account the incredible scale of things. Satellites range in size from 10cm cubes (cubesats) to things like the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope which is the size of a tennis court when unfolded (but that won't be in earth orbit). The Hubble Telescope is one of the largest (excluding the space station), and it's only the size of a bus. When the satellites are in space, there are several thousands of kilometers between you and the next one. Even though there are so many up there, they are still incredibly spread apart. There are actually only around 2,500 satellites in total in Earth orbit. There are however, around 22,000 tracked objects in low-earth-orbit that are pieces or fragments of space craft, some no larger than 10cm across. Even with 20/20 vision, and the eyes of a hawk, you'd still never be able to spot them. You simply cannot see them at that scale, they are absolutely tiny compared to the earth. Humans have difficulty imagining things of such scale, which I suspect is why people find it hard to believe this.

See my response to IUse TheForce as to why you would never be able to see them and what most of those objects actually are. Orbits work very simply. Imagine throwing a tennis ball at the horizon, it keeps falling right? How hard would you have to throw it, before it kept falling forever? That's all an orbit is. Orbits are a careful balance between speed around the earth and the force of gravity pulling down on it. Quite simple really. The closer to earth you are, the faster you have to travel to stay in orbit. What this also means, is that every altitude in an orbit has a specific speed you have to travel at, to maintain a circular orbit. Satellites in Geostationary orbit therefore, have to be approximately 37,000km away. They are still traveling incredibly fast (around 4-5Km/s I think for that altitude), but they spin at the perfect rate with the Earth to hover right above the same spot. They do still move, but not in relation to the ground. Imagine you're driving - and a bird flies above your car at the same speed your driving at. The bird would appear to be hovering yes? It's exactly like that. The main point however - is why would anybody even bother to fake this? What's in it for them exactly? That's the part I find most baffling about this. Most of the satellites in orbit are used for communication. They're also used for surveillance, and of course - scientific research. Radio towers have shit line-of-sight, and undersea cables are stupidly expensive to maintain and repair.

I do not know how people think this is fake. It's crazy that in this modern day and age, people still believe that the earth is flat, and that NASA is fake. You could take them up in space, and they would still just say that the windows are screens and that the earth is flat.
I have met my first flat-earther in person. He's a strong believer in the bible and the part about the firmament. He believes we're under a dome. It's wildly unshakeable, but I, as an Atheist, am not prepared to call him crazier than the other people who believe in rising from the dead.

It's not CGI. As I've documented in the FAQ (here: randomphotons.com/alone ), some graphical glitches were introduced into the video due to the way I slowed the original time lapse down, and I chose to boost the brightness and saturation. If you want to critique the images themselves, examine the original photos. Have a look at that image and let me know what parts are fake.

Gavin Meng The idea is that such an absolutely beautiful place could not have happened by accident. While I think this is a marvelous video, and I am in awe of the Earth as I watch it, I personally don't think that it is the best evidence of God. If you want to see evidence of a Creator, take a look at a human EYEBALL and tell me that it was accidentally assembled from random bits of matter. +Ali Abbas In much higher orbits. The ISS and other manned spaceflights are in low earth orbit because it is relatively quick and easy to get there. Satellites and other unmanned flights are in much higher orbits because they can stay over one area of the planet with very little movement, and never need to come back to Earth.

Those are experimental cameras & I don't think they'll be there forever, but they have a pretty nice view. I bet most of the footage in this timelapse is from those cameras for the HDEV experiment. eol.jsc.nasa.gov/HDEV/ Happy watching. *On second thought, these are more likely to be different cameras. HDEV cameras can't see in the dark, so they couldn't have been used. Probably different ones!
+Yahia Mohamed actually, the footage in this video predates the HDEV camera installation. The sequence is made from individual photos taken on a still photos graphs camera, typically a Nikon. Just FYI. :)
