There are a few other notes you should... uh... note; Armor on the back of Woby matters a lot now, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-osEdUHXm8a4.html Some of these pieces impact Maxwell specifically, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fp3nFyhhyxo.html The Celestial Crown is not armor, it doesn't have durability or damage absorption rates. And while armor doesn't stack in Don't Starve Together in the traditional sense there is a calculation at play that you still should know. So here's an example from the Wiki to help understand it: "A player wears a grass suit and a football helmet. When they take damage, 80% (The highest damage absorption value) of the damage will be absorbed by their armor. The total absorption of the armor worn is 60 + 80 = 140, so the grass suit receives 60/140 of the damage absorbed, and the football helmet receives 80/140. When the player takes damage, they take 20% to their health, 34.3% (80% * 60/140) to the grass suit and the remaining 45.7% to the football helmet."
grass suits sound like a waste but when you're against a wall and need literally any protection its a good fall back option than just trying to kite naked. plus if the armor survives then you have an easy bit of campfire fuel.
I dunno i always saw Wilson as the test character, the basic one who you use to learn the basic mechanics, if he got some complex rework there wouldn't really be anyone who serves that role
Perchance some alternative science machine that is after the alchemy engine. That way he is still Wilson up until late game, and maybe the T3 science machine could just be weird craftable recipes that create science stuff at an alternative cost or something. Just spitballin here
Give him a "survival log" craftable with 2 papyrus and 1 log. It can research creatures and items, which it does automatically when you see something in game (has progress saved like the cookbook), kind of like a Wiki in the game.
I know this is an older video but still very helpful! Does anyone know though, what happens if your armor is at low durability and you take a hit? Like if your Log Armor only has 2 durability left and you take a 100 damage swing, will it only absorb 2 damage and then break? Or will it still give you the full damage reduction?
In my opinion Wilson should NOT get a rework. I mean, he IS the base character after all, no (major) upsides and no downsides! If you want to compare how good characters are, use Wilson! And I have a question, do you think Wilson should have a rework?
his lore is about a failed scientist but his role in the actual ingame time line is being above average survivalist (a bit easier time making efiges coping with sanity and cold that the baseline for characters). my thought on his rework would be he getting some exclusive crafts that are just more effective versions of survival items like the traps, fishing rods and etc (on similar vein to Walther tent and Wigfried helm and spear). or the way easter, lazier but very lore friendly approach to simply give him a craft discount (construction amulet like).
