Instant subscribe and follow. What a great video, this is exactly what i was looking for. I've seen other videos explaining shot sizes, StudioBinder has got a good one, but this one is even better. Now i can go outside and try to apply what i learned. There is a small lake near where i live, i would like to shoot just a simple cinematic sequence and basically try to capture the location. I have a Mavic 3 and a Sony A6400 with the Sigma trinity lenses. My plan is to try and get as many angles as i can, from wide to close-up and then try to make something out if it in Premiere. Will also try to play with adding some music, some audio effects to emphasize the environment, and probably some color grading will be necessary. Maybe i will post it on youtube if all goes well. Thank you so much for the inspiration!

Awesome. Glad I was able to help with what you were looking for. Not sure if you noticed, but I have 5 other videos in this series about Camera Angles, Camera Movements, Framing/Composition etc (linked in the description)... If you want to get even more cinematic make sure to check those before you head over to the lake to film! Thanks for watching! And good luck with your video!

@@ThisGuy thanks, i have seen the other videos on your channel and all i can say is they are brilliant! As a beginner, i still feel overwhelmed by all the moving parts of film making/cinematography and videos like these are immensely helpful in finding structure and just something to hold on to while navigating this crazy picture making journey. Please make more videos! For example, how do we use these shot sizes correctly? Do i just go from wide to medium to close-up back to medium back to wide, is there a formula or you just go by feel? In a lot of the tutorial videos the subject is always a person (an actor), but my subject for example is a location, a lake surrounded by beautiful trees and vegetation, and perhaps some wildlife/birds. Would love to get some tips on that. Thank you again!

@@aerozg Very true. Both those ideas are maybe possible videos in the future (ie: how to use shot sizes etc in combination with each other and while filming things other than subjects/people). I will keep those in mind for the future for sure!

Cheers. I've had a major establishing shot deficit in my vlogs since the pandemic started as I've mostly had to vlog locally and don't want to give away my location. Argh!!

Ha! I think that should be an actual filmmakers "diagnosis" - establishing shot deficit disorder - I've definitely had it a time or two in the past as well...!

Could do a video on why some filmmakers use a 50 mm for established shots?
@DineshBhadwal
@DineshBhadwal 6 месяцев назад
It is understood that on a full frame sensor a 50 mm will give you the same field of view and perception of depth as normal human vision. A 50 mm on a full frame also gives you a great balance between a normal wide image and good depth of field.
