Having met the old Marquis over tea at Longleat just a few years before he passed, I hope he was assured that he had left this great British historical treasure in the capable hands of his son & heir, who has chosen an intelligent, level-headed and well-educated life partner, who wants to help her husband preserve a part of British cultural heritage.
WoW 🤩 I just discovered this show of the beautiful family march 2023 I love them so addictive and lovely family God bless ! Wow 🤩 never ear about the l’ongleat love ❤️
i just found this show that i didn't know about. Loving it, will be binge watching Today, as long as a can find it. thanks for this! i' m expanding my horizons!
The father has no idea what's going on..."Did you know who those people were?" "Not a clue"... Omg as they started drinking all that wine I felt like throwing up 😅 But he definitely took one for the team. I wonder if he felt hungover the next day 😅 What an interesting show, I need to see more episodes!!! It's addictive
Congratulations on beautiful baby. I wish your family well and all the plans you have made for estate. I've really enjoyed watching these documentaries.
#CathieMatthews. Wel, sort of. The rich have more than their share of space. And being rich their trash is apparently more valuable. But I get your drift.
I think anyone can win the lottery and become rich all of a sudden. Emma just married this guy who was not precisely happy as a child and in fact has a hard time with the family he was born in. Now, for them to keep their inheritance continue they've made all these improvements. I think speaking in terms of rich and poor is just a matter of a huge complex of inferiority. Too bad for the ones who put themselves this tag into their dnas!
I'm sure I'm missing something here but I'd be really tempted just to wait until everyone was asleep and then put up a new coat of paint around the pictures.
The Archive lady needs and assistant's help to computerize everything so she can be more organized. Just looking at the papers stuffed and stacked every where makes me feel over whelmed for her.
Its not that difficult alll you need is to organise and file correctly. we have the tendancy to get overwelmed by paper nowadys i really do not understand.
I love the part when they were unloading the Fake Elephants and the lady was trying to think of "Appropriate" words for the new additions.. What she really meant was.NO...Those Tacky Elephants do not belong here.. They obscured the main view of the Estate... I wonder how long they will stay??
where does Daddy Longleat meet the wifelets when he hardly leaves that room? Is he on posh Tinder or something?!And more importantly, its quite bizarre that the deep racism that Emma is still experiencing-including from her mother in law-is not mentioned at all. In that regard, the wifelets become minor distractions to the deeper social, racial and political contradictions of this marriage. Very good on Cealwyn for standing firmly by his lovely wife but this should not have been 'airbrushed'.
The wifelets apparently have cottages on the estate that are assigned to them by Lord Bath. Apparently a huge bone of contention between him and his son is that his son wants to evict many of these women from the cottages. This would allow them to be given to tenants who can pay the rent.
Emma will be fine , her mother in law must be suffering from unresolved issues in her own crazy marriage to daddy Longleat. She’s from a wealthy family and money has a way of shutting snobs down .
I'd go there at Christmas, New Years, St. Valentine's, St.Patricks, Easter. That covers a lot of the winter months. Imagine giving themed parties for some of the winter holidays. You could charge a door charge with maybe drink tickets and people would still buy drinks and food.
Renata Jastrzebski These Chinese workers are specialists. In China they have these beautiful festivals and they are very popular. Obviously, the Festival of Light in Longleat would not have been possible without these experienced workers.
@@renatajastrzebski3081 Yes thats what i though to. if i worked there i would get fired bec. for a satrt i am not a servile person and 2 I would not be able to keep my mouth closed on that point exactly.
I say good on them sharing the beauty of their estate and bringing life and fun to the place. Otherwise without the energy generated by all their visitors a place like that will eventually die. A house (no matter how big) absorbs the energy generated by those inside and out. Just look at how quickly a house will deteriotate when noone lives in it.
Yes but the danger in this is that they could be turning it to much into a musem and theam park rather than a Home. these houses were intended to be Private Pairadises for the British elite class. you have to allow the public in but i feel there is a danger in allowing it to become less of a Private family home and into a Buissness.
@@e.jenima7263Do they have a choice? The HMRC requires the family to open the estate to the public a prescribed part of the year or they will be slapped with a ridiculous tax bill. It costs £3M to maintain this historic heritage property.
Besides, this is the 3rd generation that is keeping up a unique private safari park in England that was established by the grandfather. They are working hard to preserve it.
I’m sure they are all motivated to preserve English national heritage. It is not just a job. . .it is a vocation. Almost a mission. (Besides that they are remunerated anyway.) Having visited a hundred heritage houses in Europe & America, this is an industry.
Well no he did not not compleatly and it is still his house. he allowed his son to start shaireing in the responsability bec. he is ofthat age and of corse he knew he would not last forever . I mean he was over 80 after all.
Well, it looks like the old Marquis’s heir and daughter-in-law have really “stepped up to the plate” in working to keep this national treasure estate preserved and solvent. So, I hope he was happy in the end.
Yes agreed. I know it is not accurate but i liked it to. Fun fack look up the retro doc. of Manore house ghosts whith Margret rutherford they do a segmint at longleat and when they did it the grandfather suliens Fathers father was stil alive and it shows the Hall with out the green.
I love these people, even the eccentric old father (maybe the last of the true English oddball lords). They make the Windsors look a bit poor. Hopefully all is well today!
Happy father comes out of the Lindo Wing to his car and there’s a parking ticket on his windshield. He takes it in stride, smiling. 😂 “Prince William didn’t have this problem”, teased the photographer. 😂 “Does anyone know how to do the baby seat?!”, pleads the Marchioness. 😂😂😂 Ten minutes later, a nurse emerges to sort it out. 😂😂😂😂 I couldn’t stop laughing out loud. ❤
I’m pretty sure she was referring to the dress designer and her staff, and the bride’s mother and sister. But there are obviously much better ways to make that point. She’s clearly a dinosaur and someone should introduce her to the 21st century. Or at least, like, the 20th.
God ! to own such a wonderfull home and being forced to have it open to the public like this . Its like liveing in a theam park essentialy. I would hate that. It is true what the historians say . this way of living thes vast esstates could not survive without the british empire . I mean for house tours but this is insane . i get why they do it but i would feel pretty resentfull.
when i mean this way of liveing i ment the way the current lords grate grandfather and mother would have lived. The days of Victorian and edwadian lifestyle. the Elagance and extravigance of the old days Before the 1'st or second world wars.
To me the result was so gaudy and out of keeping with the whole estate. It was like a hideous Las Vegas and not the beautiful English countryside. In the right setting it would be better, but it looked so wrong there. I wonder how many of the paying public came and if all the costs were covered and a profit made?
Yes agreed not to mention doing a deal with the devil....................AKA the Communist chinese. They will not think that they are making a good investment when China rises as the new world superpower and they Come over Re educat there decendents or just simply exacute them and confiscate there Land. Greedy basterds. I know they had the best intenstions and i know running a Manore house esstate in the Modern Post WW2 britan is Sinfully expensive but i feel they did a wroung thing dealing with the chinese.
This Bob manager treating the estate like a Disney playground for rich Chinese people is a disgrace. An utter disgrace. I believe it shows complete lack of understanding of the treasure he is working on. With all his books on Christian management he may as well have spent some time studying British heritage, and I am saying this as an Italian. His whole management style is so out of place there I can hardly understand why he was given that job and how he could keep it.
Its allso a utter disgrace on the part of the family as well. I mean i know a estate like that is UNNNNBeeellllevably EXPENSIVE but they seem to be manageing nicely. I feel anywesterner ess. aristocrat willing to do deals with the chinese is Morally bankrupt . they might as well just sell western culture. Well they will have regerts when the chinese take over the world as the new superpower and Shoot there Blue Blooded faces off and confinskate there property bec that is what China did to there Aristocracy and land owning Class.
Umm it may be disorganised to you but it odviously works for her somehow, some ppl brains work differintly is all. and she has admitted that if there was another curator as well it would not be such a mess.
Why wouldn't they celebrate Christmas...similar to what Biltmore estates does here in the states? Flying all of them over, plus time, labor, materials...was it cost effective? Slaves? So much is said and not edited...my be a British trait...but slaves was a wrong term...and Emma's mom........😲
I would have thought the son would have told his father about the new paint job.. They must not be talking therefore he assumed someone would tell his father. I just hope that when I get as old as the father I'd have enough since left to let the next generation do their thing. I'm certain Ceawlin's grandfather would have been disappointed in his son. The father has just become an obstinate meddling old fool instead of a doting and proud father/grandfather.
Well you must remember that Lord Bath has spent his life there and it has been his life all that time. His son has come in and wants to make changes which no one wants to have forced upon them, I can understand and sympathise with the son but I also understand Lord Bath's feelings too. One wants change and the other wants continuity. Just so maddening though for Lord Bath to take umbrage at the re-painting of the walls, the curator was quite correct in wanting the walls painted in the original colour to better show off the paintings. All that care and time in taking down the paintings and then having to put them back - infuriating for the son and curator.
@@divaah4406 Oh damn - I was so eagerly looking forward to watching many episodes. I was hoping to see the repulsive Bob fired. There is something deeply repellent about him, he should not be manager at all. He will turn a beautiful estate into something cheap and tawdry in no time. And fire all the locals who have lived and worked on the estate most of their lives. A shame, a great shame.
Go to the end then rewind. If you still see the commercial points, do it again. It may take more than 1 or 2 times, or sometimes you just can't get past the commercials.
Oh come on. And anyway u relise how much money that would cost. Babys in human history have survived through worse . in fackt it may actully help strenthen the kids immune system.
@@univerzaltruth6481 Do your homework ? You need to ! Royalty gets tax money, and a percentage of everyones money in the whole nation ! Royalty sits on marble toilets, while little kids starve because there's NO WORK in the UK or WALES !!
Guys this serie is from some years ago. Go to Longleat youtube channel ru-vid.com/show-UCuQN8orGEUmkRwDbJgOZ9eQ you'll see Emma and the baby in video, he is now about five years old.
Ppole in the comments below are saying...Oh Get the Curator a Computer....but the Human Brain is the best computer of them all! Some ppl.s brains just work differintly and computers just male pepole lazy and cairless. what the women needs it a part time assistant who understands Clerical work . Personally i feel a greater sens of accomplishment when i am able to do clerical work without the aid of a computer.
Ooofff. Mo ther & daughter need to lay off the surgeries...they said Emma was young so I'm guessing shes in her 20s but girl, stop. U look 37. And mom...I have no words.
