All creatures great and small, we love them here in Hopalong Hollow. Our animal friends bring a good deal of delight, beauty, humor and inspire me in my artwork. Let me properly introduce you to a few of my dear friends.
Leam y keat blancos como los hermosos patos 🦆 todo acorde a su cosmovisión muchas gracias por compartir toda esta belleza muchas muchas bendiciones por su gran labor 🍀🙏💞
Thank you for introducing us to your beautiful feathered and furry family. I love that they all have literary names. Our chickens are named after famous people or characters. Take care -Marcie
Yes Marie, don't you find it so much easier to remember their names that way?! Another thing I do, is to name them after my "best friends" over the years, starting from 2nd grade.
So beautiful stories you tell, you are a very talented artist/ animal mother. Your heart is full, I don't know how I could handle loosing that many animal children 😥💖. When I loose one of my dogs/cats it breaks my heart and my childrens heart. Thank you for sharing, I always enjoy your talks 🙏💞
Oh that must been so cool being surprised by that baby donkey ...could there be anything cuter 😍 Loved that video 🧡 I love animals too but dont have any at the moment
My eyes are filled with tears. Oh thank you so much for showing all your beautiful fur/feathered friends. I absolutely love your videos but this video touched my heart so deeply. I know from personal experience how loving and intelligent geese are. Geese ducks chickens how you are Blessed with them all. I love your gardens and tea clips in your vids but this HAS to be my favorite. Thank you so much for this video but mostly thank you for having such a kind loving heart and sharing your little paradise ❤❤
I feel a bittersweet sadness watching this video; a few of the animals are not with us this year, having passed away from old age or other causes. My donkeys are fine, I am happy about that.
I understand completely having to say a painful goodbye to my feathered friends over the years. 💔 Thank you again for sharing your peaceful corner of your world with us you bring peacefulness into our worlds too.❤❤
Loved this 😃🤩 oh my gosh, I wanted to be a veterinarian too and did two years pre vet in college… then I changed to natural resources and I became a Forest Ranger for the U.S. Forest Service. Served 33 years, 12 of those years a District Ranger (what used to be the old Forest Ranger position in charge of a district) and retired after being a Forest Supervisor (over 4 District Rangers). A wonderful career and yes it was all about animals that got me into it. Now retired and art and gardening etc…. Need more animals though LoL
That really is wonderful, so much like me in that regard. I grew up in Colorado and spent much time backpacking and wandering the mountains. But I took the right path for me and still have the joy of caring for so many animals.
Loved seeing all your animals Jeri. When we bought this little homestead five years ago, the first thing I wanted was a donkey. I got one for Christmas and on that same day he almost bit my pinky finger in half. He had never been socialized and considered me the enemy for going in his pasture. Sold him to a cattle farmer at a great loss. Farmer was happy and the donkey was too. Then I started raising sheep. They are my joy. I also have two Great Pyrenees and two Border Collies and an eight month old Bernewfie. Also many Muscovy ducks and quite a few chickens. But I still love looking at your lovely flowers and "having tea" with you. And looking around your lovely home. Thanks for sharing.
I raised sheep for about 12 years, but no longer have any; lost this old gal Sophia, last year. I'd like to get a few Shetland sheep this year. But I love my donkeys most of all, it's too bad you had a negative experience with yours, mine are sort of like dogs, in that they love attention and come for treats when called. Never liked the look of Muscovies until recently, curious as to their personality...
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow Well they are technically water fowl, not ducks. Not at all warm and fuzzy like the Pekins I had. But I love to watch them fly over the property. And they go all up and down this country road but always come back for the corn. I have one in the barn right now on chicken eggs. Don't know what that's about. We shall see.
Oh, how precious, your little brood! Where would the world be without our animal friends!? Growing up we had quite a menagerie, with dogs, chickens, ducks, bunnies and, dare I say, snakes! My brother loved snakes and toads and all manner of, to my mind at my tender age, slimy creatures! But we loved them, too. Thank you for your most charming videos!
Hi Jeri, I love this video! 💕💜❤️💗💖👍 Those donkeys are adorable, all of them 💕 Love Your narrative, you really have it all ☺️. take care and God Bless, Chris-Raleigh NC
Wonderful to get to meet all your fur and feather family. You are so fortunate to have them, and you illustrate them so beautifully in your books. Wonderful video! Dale from Canada
There is NOTHING like an animal to make me smile and feel better. The peacocks are stunning! What gorgeous birds. I feel the same way about animals that you do. They are treasures. Thanks for the introduction to your treasures.
Linda, True about getting a lift from animals, it happens to me every day. From the little squirrel that's been hanging out in my potager today, to the funny faced frog that peeped out of the pond last week ( he must not know it's still winter), animals are a cure for whatever ails you!
Hi Jeri I am new to your wonderful channel! What a gentle place to spend time. I love your hair! I too enjoy felting, writing and art. Nowhere close to your level though - You are so gifted. Love interesting tea items too! We have a few of the same bits and bobs. What sweet critters!
What do you mean you are not an artist? You are an artist of the best, and most wonderful, kind. I just recently stumbled upon your RU-vid channel and I have fallen in love. If not for my other obligations, I could watch and listen to you all day. Your style of gardening is so much like mine, yet I learn so much from you. Keep showing your talents and your happy living.
Oh you are so lucky! I too love animals and over the years have had chickens, ducks, turkeys and rabbits. I have always wanted a donkey (had a horse when I was a child) and goats. My husband is not so keen on the idea! So enjoyed seeing your animals and hearing their stories. Thanks for sharing!
We've had a few goats, and as much as I loved them, they were SO naughty, always getting over the fence and causing trouble. They lived to a ripe old age, and have since passed away. I don't think I'll ever get another goat, but I would love some smaller sheep someday.
Oh My Gosh . Thank You for showing your garden and your animals to us ! But your art work is beautiful. You need to print them, they are so wonderful , please consider an online sale of them . I'm sure others agree with me. THANK YOU
Sharon, I do art prints, greeting cards and books but no calendars, yet. I may use some of these farm illustrations to create a calendar for 2020. They are exactly the correct size for it.
Thanks for this video. Gorgeous! We used to have three 'Girls' (chickens) PP, Cilla and Lulu (all singers from the sixties) but unfortunately when we went overseas we had to find them their 'forever' home which, thankfully. we did. Now it is just George, the cat.
FlowerFairy, I remember Lulu, but not the other two. George must be very happy to have you all to himself, cats don't like to share. We have a cat, but she was inside the house while I was filming.
We are not allowed any farm animals here at kiowa. I thought about talking with farmer Jones in the field directly behind our backyard fence to see if I could buy a run of plot and put a gate in that fence but probably Kiowa owns the fence so know the answer to that one. So we just watch farmer Jones cows up next to our fence. Once momma cow got loose in our yard and couldn"t find her way back to her baby so here came security chasing Matilda (I named her) down the fence row.. lol Then a minutes later farmer Jones and her cow and the trailer past our house going home. I was raised on a west Texas farm and I miss it! Farm girl at heart!!
Hi Don't know how I missed your comment. Sorry you can't have any critters, glad you have some cows for neighbors. The cows on another property once escaped into our meadow and I loved it!
Hi Jeri. I raise pilgrim geese. They are the only breed you can tell the difference of male and female. Your Pilgrim is a female. The males are all white or mostly white and they have blue eyes, Yje brown, grey and white color is the female. The difference between male and female geese is very distinct. The female geese have an egg sack or what I call a Keel between their legs. I hope this helps the confusion of your geese. I love geese. Enjoy your videos, Chris
I really enjoyed that! I am also an animal lover and gardener. I keep many chickens of all different breeds, 4 cats, a dog and a rabbit who fertilizes my gardens. I have been wanting a donkey for years. But, my husband says no! I am hoping to convince him soon. Have a beautiful day and thank you.
You keep trying to convince him, donkeys are darlings and very easy to care for. Just be sure your donkey has a friend, they get lonely without a buddy.
I was a vegetarian a long time ago... in my younger days. I have one aged cat, but over the years have had at least 30 cats! I need some kittens next year.
Each video of yours I tell my husband the same thing, "Oh I wish I was Jeri's next door neighbor." When you mentioned Miss Havisham is a previous video, it just reinforced it. I have always wanted to live in a house like Miss Havisham. I teach, am a strong animal lover, paint and garden. After teaching 31 years, we look forward next year to moving away from the concrete jungle and hopefully recreating what you have created. Before I discovered you, I had always wanted to make a donkey the very first pet. After watching this beautiful tribute to your animal family, I can hardly wait. The best thing about the internet is getting to know there are people out there like you! Thank you!!
Jan, It would certainly be nice to have some kindred spirits for neighbors. You definitely need a donkey, they are, without a doubt, the sweetest, most affectionate of the large beasts.Hope you find the perfect country home to garden, paint and let the Miss Haversham cobwebs collect!
What a treat, thank you so much for taking us along introducing all of your precious animals 💖 I always dreamed to have a farm but was never blessed with that dream So happy to visit with you and your animals thank you again for sharing
Jeri I appreciate the introduction to all of your beautiful feathered and furry friends that inspire your wonderful art and books! I can tell you Love them, thank you for sharing them with us. 😉
Thankyou1! It occurred to me that the animals appear in so many video as they are waddling past or just making noise in the background, that animal lovers might want to meet them.
It's just so heartwarming to see all the love and care you put in to nurturing all your animals and gardens. Allows the soul to breathe a sigh of relief.
Jeri, I didnt think I could be more in love with your channel!! After seeing the donkeys, geese, chickens, ducks, dogs...❤❤❤ my heart is bursting! Your artwork is amazing and all because you have great subjects to draw!!!
I will attempt to Express in words how I greatly enjoyed this video. I also am an animal lover, amateur garden, and amateur writer. Your story telling was food to my soul. I cried for three days when a predator killed my gorgeous rooster, "Red". I gave away the last three hens, Lucy, Penelope, Scallywag. I have never again raised chickens. I give all your videos a "beyond thumbs up" as I learn something new and interesting as well. I share an interest in art. I am more expressive in arrangements of cut flowers, crafts, garden beds. My son is a professional artist. His niche' is painting still life, murals, and people. I hope you continue sharing your various loves and talents to the public. God bless you and thank you.
Deborah, thank you for the very nice comment. It really is tough losing some of our animal friends, some are more dear than others. Living in the country, where everyone is trying to survive.. (fox, raccoon, coyote) makes all the critters vulnerable, but the hardest losses come when the loss was not a survival necessity. Mean dogs and sickness have been some of our worst PREDATORS. But whatever the cause, I just continue to add to my animal family when a death occurs. Thanks for your visit and keep up with your creative endeavors!
Your little ones are so cute . The Peacocks so beautiful. I have heard the Peacock's ! I love hearing them, all the animals. I went to the Peabody hotel in Memphis when I was really young and we got to see the Ducks or Chickens go through the lobby. I still remember this, I was so young. We also went to a place called Lowenstien's (sorry misspelled). I know you are from East Tennessee, But doing craft show's I thought you had gone their. My favorite cat I named " Mr. Pusbee". He is gone now. The next cat I got I named " Mrs. Pussbee". Thank you Jeri for your wonderful videos ,
You are so fortunate to have such a menagerie of critters they are delightful and your artwork is amazing with such detail. Your love for animals is obvious the names and how you tell your stories and ultimately showing your artwork as well. You are incredibly talented. Thanks for sharing your family with us. What a treat!!!!!
Absolutely loved meeting all the Hopalong Hollow friends. Especially loved the story of Jemima the donkey, what a perfect surprise :-) Thank you for introducing everyone.
We may have another generation of the Donks. A very naughty Male DONK, escaped his farm, got into our meadow and did the deed with Jemima over the summer... At least this time I am expecting it!
I love all your animals and your house has a lot of character too in beautiful surroundings. We used to have chickens and geese but now we just have 7 little dogs which take up a lot of my time as 3 of them are only 10 months old which we kept from our own litter.
I love your sweet introduction to your sweet animal friends. I wish I could have all those birds, but I live inside city. Thank you for sharing both your artwork and your special friends.
If I were to recommend a particular species, it would be a pair of ducks. They are the happiest and busiest of farm birds. Too bad you can't have a few!
Thank you so much, for sharing this! Your animal's are very nice. I think you are a lucky lady. Able to chose, your neat, lifestyle. As your hard work, at times...have made you a success! Keep well and safe, you and yours. ❤😀👍
I enjoy all.ypur videos but this.one has to be one of my top three favorites 😍 I have always liked animals specially if the have fur or feathers but now that i actually live in the countryside surrendered by farms and cows I fell in love once again. Please don't stop including your beautiful animals in your videos some days they are the light my day needs. Many blessings!!!
This is my favorite video so far! ❤️ You can just feel the love coming from you to the animals and back again! I am so happy that so many of the dreams you dreamed as a little girl came true. A cat with six names! That sounds like an amazing story.
i love the farm animals and all the inspiration you give me and omg those Mice are so cute love it when you have a tea party with them and all the knowledge you bring thank you Jeri i want to get a mouse made from wool they are so lifelike im crazy for them you have a great day talk to you soon
I so loved meeting your animals. I could cry!! I would love to have what you have. My husband and I would so so love to be in the country. We appreciate our home, but would like to have some property. I would just love to visit with you. You are living our dream😂😂♥️🥰
Dreams can come true Jena!. It was my dream as a young woman, (even as a little girl) to live on a farm in an old house; with hard work and determination, we made it come true. One day, you'll be looking out your window as your little ducks waddle past!
How did I miss this video! I always wished you'd show your birds and other farm critters. Gorgeous birds and animals, you're so lucky to have them. Your artwork is beautiful too!
I loved this, Jeri. Thank you for giving me the title of the video so I could watch it. I'm one of those people who always talks to animals, so if I ever visited you, that's where you'd find me - out in your farmyard having conversations. 🙂
Elizabeth, Ducks are precious, the most important thing to make them HAPPY is lots of water. They must have a constant water source, even if its just a toddlers swimming pool. Our have access to a barn at night, but ducks and geese love to sleep out in the open air, no matter what the weather. Our Guardian Dogs protect them from predators.
Oh I don't think I have seen your dogs. But my daughter and I go driving around our area, especially this year when my daughter could not go to town and hang out. So we drive and see all the farma and animals , mostly cows but we love the babies, and in our drive one summer day we came upon a small farm with sheep and 6 dogs that look exactly like yours came barking their heads off, but most of their tails were wagging. But i suspect if there was a predator they would not have wagging tails
I love old houses too. I would take a old crooked floors house over any new!! So much charm . My old farmhouse is 1896. It was the only one on this side of town I live in. The gentleman sold it off in lots . Sad. But I do still have a good size yard. I live your place
YOu really should get a pair, they make wonderful pets. They like affection, come when called, are very protective and have darling personalities. In many ways they are like dogs.
Jeri Landers the Storybook Gardener I used to watch donkey rescue videos on RU-vid. I thought someday it might be nice to be a foster home to some when I get this house done.
