I know it was put down as the “ultimate bad ending” but I personally would be quite happy with an independent Kingdom of England. That said though, polls show a decrease in support for Scottish independence, Wales is unlikely to ever achieve it and Irish unification won’t be on the table for another 20 or so years.

I've heard that if the UK fell apart, England would still remain a fairly powerful and wealthy nation, but that Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland would have difficulties surviving on their own. Is there any truth to this assertion?
