Ver. Ka means Version Katoki. Hajime Katoki is a legendary gundam/mecha designer and the Ver. Ka editions are models he has remodeled or designed in some way in his own vision. Thanks for the video, i would break my bank in a store like that, I am so jealous! 😂

Oh wow so I happen to film an important one! That is really cool. No wonder it caught my eyes. Something about it looked different and awesome. Even for a newb like myself, I was tempted to pick up so many, so I can only imagine how it would be for you lol. Thank you for watching!

I loved watching your commentary - very funny. That entry grade strike was my first gundam build, too! I had a work trip in Tokyo, discovered the models, and fell in love with it. I now have over 40 kits in my closet - need to start building faster than buying, lol.

I know Gundam Bases in Japan and I think the Korean ones have a membership program you can join for free where you get points for purchases you make in the stores. At least in Japan the points are used to get exclusive items that you can't buy regularly like a gold plated model kit of the RX-78-2 Gundam.

So about the different logo colors, Bandai Namco had a restructuring around 2019. The part of the company that makes model kits used to be called Bandai Co., Ltd. (Red logo) then got renamed to Bandai Spirits (Blue Logo). You can use the logo color to guess at when a specific kit was released as the date on the box is usually the time when it was first printed (e.g. date of 1999 but with blue logo means the kit originally released in 1999 but was reprinted sometime after 2019). There is actually two red logos, one with and one without the white border. Also, early last year Bandai Namco started to add the new "speech bubble" Bandai Namco logo to their products so anything with that is a very recent release/reprint.
@hwikkyOG
@hwikkyOG Год назад
Wow there's so much more to it than I imagined! So looking at the logo will give me a rough idea of the age of a kit.. learning new things everyday
@reijigamer
@reijigamer Год назад
@@hwikkyOG Exactly. Bandai has been making Gundam model kits since 1980 so it is possible to see a kit originally printed maybe 20 years ago with a red logo and then a recent reprint of that same kit with a blue logo. Though I think the "candy toy" division still has a red logo.
@hwikkyOG
@hwikkyOG Год назад
@@reijigamer Cool how there is a story to tell just with the logos. Thanks for your insight!
@reijigamer
@reijigamer Год назад
@@hwikkyOG You're welcome. Bandai technically reprints all kits they have ever made with only one kit officially discontinued but it can be years between reprints depending on the model so there might not be a blue logo of some kits yet.

Ughhhh, I wish I could go to a place like this. I can have, like, a tenth of the experience at my hobby store if I'm counting all the different franchises, but an actual dedicated Bandai shop would just drain my money as I stand there breathing. Edit: Oh yeah, about the design of the actual assembly process; that part had Adam Savage geeking about the Gundam build he was doing for that one video he did. He grew up building models, but it was his first Gundam kit

Huh, you'd think something branded Gundam Base would have only Gundam, but I suppose it's too much retail space for Bandai to not try and promote adjacent product. The "snapped sword" is branded "Proplica." The name might suggest a mere prop replica, but it's usually more akin to a high-end role play toy; the thing's probably loaded with sound effects, character dialogue, and often music tracks to boot. It's a very over the top line, basically tailored for die-hards, so it's often produced in limited quantities too. Electronics + licensing fees + low supply = $$$$$$$ Bandai tried to rebrand their various product lines a couple of yrs back to make it easier for buyers. Blue logo means it's for "mature" audiences. Stuff like model kits that require sharp tools, or collectibles with small parts that could be choking hazards, use the blue logo, so parents can tell at a glance that it's not recommended for kids. In theory, it's a sound idea. ....in practice, the Bandai products tend to blur the line so much it doesn't matter.
@hwikkyOG
@hwikkyOG 2 года назад
Yo thanks for the detailed explanation. The logo idea does sound challenging to implement in reality. As for the sword, now it makes sense why the high price tag. Personally I enjoyed the store for having more stuff then just Gundam. I think it's a place I would visit often if I lived close to one.

I know it's too late, but the reason there are so many other franchises there other than Gundam is because it's basically a Bandai store instead. Bandai makes all those models and couldn't help but flex all of their kits in one place, knowing that you might get interested in something you normally wouldn't. After building so many gundams with somewhat similar structures in legs, arms, body etc you may want to try and build something a little different. Wonder if you've upgraded from "newb" to advanced or experienced during this year
@hwikkyOG
@hwikkyOG Год назад
Thanks for watching! I did like seeing all the different Gundam models, but I gotta say it was enjoyable to see different things inside the store. I haven't had a chance to get more into Gundam since this visit, but I do want to (finally) build the model that I bought on stream in the near future. Which means, I am still very much a newb.

@hwikkyOG Год назад
Thank you for watching! So after seeing your comment I did some digging and it turns out Korea was the first to have a Gundam Base. The very first one opened in Korea in 2003, and it took many years before the first one in Japan to be opened in 2017(!). There are far more stores in Korea than Japan today, which I am shocked to find out. They are all legit Bandai Namco operated stores too, so I assume Gundam Base at least in Korea always did their thing of selling non-Gundam stuff that are at least Bandai Namco related. I've never been to the ones in Japan, so I don't know how it really is like there. I hope to visit one in person.
