GAME: Fate/Samurai Remnant
AUTHOR: Omega Force, Koei Tecmo
Fate/Samurai Remnant lets players play as Miyamoto Iori. The combat is hack and slash style with some similarities to musou gameplay, but it falls under the Action RPG genre with dodging and looking for openings as an important element. It features a wide array of stances, which the player character can switch between on the fly. Iori uses dual katanas, a widespread weapon for Samurai during the Edo period. Players can give commands to their servant, launching special attacks and combos. In certain situations, the game allows for full control of Iori's servant, as his weapons can't be used against other servants.

Oh yeah Gilgamesh can rule over the world because his passive ability is Gate of Babylon and its abilities is... Its basically item box and it automatically generated everything humanity owned. Yes he pretty much already have 100 of everything humanity have even currently "military force" If he's summoned in modern age he will also YEET nuke out of his infinite item box. So he can 100% rule over the world... Its not even a question of how. He already have enough weapons as he is. He just needs an army who will nevet bored him of this "sure win battle" Iori who always brings entertainment for him will be a good fitting... Its enough for him to rule over the world.

So fun fact about Li Shuwen in this game. Miyamoto Iori was born in 1612 and died in 1678. Li Shuwen, on the other hand, was born in 1864, around 200 years after Iori died. That's why Li Shuwen revealed his True Name without hesitation; no one would know who he is XD

So the reason why Li Shuwen is willing to say his True Name so readily is because it's literally impossible for anyone to recognize his true name. The reason is simple: relative to the time period of Samurai Remnant, Li Shuwen is from the future. Li Shuwen is a martial artist that was born in 1864. Samurai Remnant takes place in 1651. No one should be able to recognize his name at this period and therefore, no one can learn his weaknesses. And yes, this is something that can happen in Holy Grail Wars. The Throne of Heroes, the dimension where all heroic spirits exist, is beyond time and space meaning even heroes from the future can be summoned (although since it would be impossible to obtain a catalyst for summoning, this generally never happens).

It's funny because the practical reason Servants from the future aren't usually summoned is because most of these stories take place in the modern day. They *could* make some original character and say "they're some Heroic Spirit from the year 2200" or something, but I guess they don't want to get too deep into sci-fi speculative fiction. Even though they could.

The reason why Li Shuwen is open about his True Name is because he died in 1934. He is basically at least two centuries from the future, so no one in the current time period would even know who the hell he is. So yes, it is entirely possible for you to get a servant who exists from the future, though it is extremely rare to the point that it is an actual plot point for a different Fate story.
@MPBoosterAxel

Iori: Why would he say his True Name so casually? Well Iori (and Nico), Li Shuwen’s NP “No Second Strike” is to be taken INCREDIBLY AND SERIOUSLY LITERALLY! In case you are wondering how nerfed Boss was: He never used his most op Noble Phantasm, Enuma Elish. Why? Because its so powerful, its one of the few that qualify as anti-world, because it literally breaks down the fabrics of reality. Yeah, thats how nerfed he was. Thats not to say the was going easy, like Saber said, Gates of Babylon isnt shooting just weapons, its shooting Noble Phantasms and Gil, as the protoype to all heroes, supposedly has the prototype of every single Noble Phantasm weapon there is, in fact, of almost everything there is (he even has a magical jet in there ). That armor IS how he normally looks (shirtless is another look he goes by too), but they redesigned it a little, changing the patterns and design of his waist cloth, and giving the armor some more padding here and there, probably to fit the environment and give him a more "samurai warlord" look, which works extremely well. Also, that clay tablet has a very interesting meaning behind it: In Fate lore, Gilgamesh was a demigod, meant to bridge the world of the humans and gods, but being who he is, he never felt like it. To try and push him back into his role, the gods created Enkidu, an autonomous being made out of clay, to force Gil back into serving the gods. Enkidu however, never had a soul, they couldnt give them one, and so, as they traveled the world, they took a liking to it, eventually molding themselves after a human that became special to them. Enkidu and Gil would go on to become best friends Long story short, that lump of clay can be interpreted as a symbol, a token of friendship, as it represents the one being Gilgamesh calls a friend.

So the thing with Li Shuwen and him just revelling his true name is one he just did not care and two this is something i know you were wondering about earlier in the LP is because he is future man, so it does not matter if he just tells people his True Name because no matter what no one will know or be able find out who he is because he has not been born yet, also just to answer the next obvious question of how far in future they can taking from and if there is a cutoff for actual history there is, it's Neil Armstrong yes the astronaut that guy.

Gilgamesh is the King of heroes, as his title says. Among heroic spirits he is the strongest, he is not invulnerable, but at his peak and going all out he just has an answer to almost anything a servant can throw at him. There are other being in the nasuverse that go above heroic spirits, but those cannot be summoned as servants in normal conditions. So he is the strongest summonable servant you could get. To grasp what insanity Gate of Babilon is. During the fight Saber said that each of those weapons are noble phantasms. That is Gilgames's power, he has every weapon from every legend ever at noble phantasm lever and he casually throws them at the opponents. They would do more if wielded properly, but he doesn't bother using them that way since they don't mean much to him beyond just being worthy of his collection.

So. Fun little fact about Gilgamesh's 'Gate of Babylon' Noble Phantasm. As it explains, It summons a key that opens the gates to the treasure vaults of the legendary city itself, Gilgamesh's city of Babylon. if you're familiar with the epic of Gilgamesh, you'll probably remember that the story claims he had acquired 'every treasure in the world'. Fate translates this has him basically having ALL of the world's treasures. Including prototype Noble Phantasms that would become the NPs fo other Heroic Sprits. Yes, Gilgamesh's go-to strategy is to hit you with EVERY NOBLE PHANTASM IN EXISTANCE. Granted these are less powerful than true Noble Phantasms, but here's the thing: it's still a Noble Phantasm. Doesn't matter how weak it is in comparison, it will nuke a Servant into oblivion if they aren't careful. Especially if Gilgamesh uses the right Noble Phantasm against the right Servant.
@Shinekage

Gilgamesh is indeed ridiculously strong. He has a tool for every conceivable situation or heroic weakness, clairvoyance and even space ship to name few tools. So I want to describe how much Gil was limited in this fight of his, or at least what he didn’t do, first off, he has multiple noble phantasms, he only used gate of Babylon, second the most obvious, the fact that he’s a rouge servant, so he naturally has much less access to magic than he would as a full servant, and finally, he didn’t pull out the big guns from his gates that aren’t just noble phantasms, you essentially fought base form goku, maybe a few levels below since super but you get the idea
@colt1903
@colt1903 9 месяцев назад
"Is he supposed to be canonically one of the strongest Servants?" Yes. In Fate, the older something is history wise, the more powerful. There are exceptions, but for the most part that's one of the hardest rules in the franchise. Gilgamesh is the Main Character of the oldest Myth/Legend in human history. Therefore, he's also the oldest Servant. Therefore, it's not wrong to say that following conventional rules, he is the strongest there is. That said, there are exceptions to those conventional rules. That is to say, cheaters. Every once in a while, you do get Servants that ascend past him power wise through, again, essentially cheating the system. There's also the matter of Gil's arrogance to take into account. Man genuinely believes no one is above him, and of course has plenty of reason to feel that way. In other words, his arrogance is justified, and as you can imagine that makes it almost impossible for him to shake. There have been times where his arrogance has been the only reason he loses, and knowing him it's a bad habit that will continue to plague him. Also, due to that same arrogance, we quite literally just do not know what all that he's capable of. In fact, even HE doesn't know everything he's capable of. According to he himself, the amount of stuff within his Gate of Babylon has LONG since grown beyond his knowledge. It's one thing to be broken, but it's another thing altogether to be so overpowered even you yourself don't truly understand the depths of your power. It's because of that unknown element to his limits that it's still a question of whether those individuals that are supposedly stronger than him truly are, or if Gil still remains the indisputable strongest, but he just doesn't know it, and therefore can't actually exercise his full power for us to know definitively whether he is indeed the strongest still. Personally, I think he is, because adding an "unknown" to an OP character's power that even THEY don't know about? If that's not a writer setting themselves up for any future Deus Ex Machinas, I dunno what is.

To add a little context to the fight you had against the King of Heroes, Boss/Gilgamesh: Yes, his golden armor and slick back, spiky hair is usually how he’s commonly depicted when he’s summoned as an Archer and the way he fights is also how he usually fights in his other iterations as well. His “fighting style” is simply to spam his own Noble Phantasm, “Gate of Babylon”, which acts as a vault where he keeps everything that interests him or that he considers a treasure. Everything that he fires from it are considered Noble Phantasms in their own right, but they’re mostly used as projectiles since he never cared enough to actually learn how to use them. And if you think that’s insane enough as is, he has other Noble Phantasms that he usually never uses unless he actually intends to get serious, meaning he never even took the fight seriously to begin with. But be thankful that he didn’t, otherwise you would’ve vaporized where you stood and this game would’ve had another premature ending.
@natchu96
@natchu96 9 месяцев назад
To not downplay his abilities in the wrong areas, he is actually a fairly skilled and accomplished warrior and highly proficient in nearly any form of armed, unarmed, and even magecraft combat. It's just that he literally owns too much stuff; his usage of any specific weapon or noble phantasm is shallow when compared to other heroes that have wielded their iconic weapons of the trade to absolute mastery. Against a less legendary opponent he can have them helpless on the floor in seconds. Of course he rarely deems anyone worthy of making him actually exert physical effort, so he normally just stands in place and shoots. Your attacks are so insignificant he won't even summon actual shields to defend himself, as opposed to just throwing random stuff in your path.

Gilgamesh being so strong that he breaks the framerate is the most Gilgamesh thing ever. He's basically *the* most powerful Heroic Spirit because the Epic of Gilgamesh is perhaps one of the oldest surviving pieces of literature in all of human civilisation. At the very least, he's one of the world's oldest legendary 'heroes', hence why he calls himself the King of Heroes. That being said, he's not completely invincible. Arjuna is kind of a Big Deal in India. The Mahabharata is an absolutely stonkingly huge epic poem that documents a horrible terrible war between two sets of warring cousins, and is basically the Hindu equivalent of the Illiad (but much, much longer). Arjuna is the third of five brothers (actually fourth of six but It's Complicated). All his brothers are demigod sons of various divinities, Arjuna's dad is Indra, the god of thunder and lightning. He's an existing Fate character already and most of his other appearances focus on his intense rivalry with his oldest brother Karna (see: It's Complicated), so it's kinda nice we're seeing a different side to him here.

Regarding the Gilgamesh fight, yeah, he's holding back so that Iori and Saber don't die in the first second. As he can just shoot hundreds of noble phantasms at you at Mach 10. And those Noble Phantasms are the stuff he collected and stores in the [GATE Of BABYLON], his noble phantasm, during his life. Of course, what he has in his collection are Prototype Noble Phantasms. And to explain what a Prototype Noble Phantasm, They're noble phantasms that exist as extremely powerful and unstable versions of the Noble Phantasms that other Servants have. Of course, he doesn't have all the prototype NPs thanks to how the prototype for Cu's Gae Bolg is Odin's Spear Gungnir. Not to be confused with Odin's Sphere, the game. -But I wouldn't be surprised if he has the Vanillaware game in his collection, as everything that exists after his death is automatically added to the [GATE Of BABYLON]. Minus Alien Artifacts and certain Divine Constructs such as Gungnir. Also, regarding his class of Ruler. It is now the third official class that Gilgamesh can be summoned into seen in Fate media, granted its been confirmed that he qualify to be summoned into any of the main seven classes which means a Grail War that only consists of him is possible. Anyway the requirements to be a member of the Ruler Class being that a Heroic Spirit must have no wish that they want to be granted and as such makes them become a neutral party in a Grail War if they're summoned. This works for Gilgamesh because it has been confirmed that he already has a Holy Grail in his Collection. Ironic as he lived thousands of years prior to Jesus drinking from the cup that would become the Grail.

He has been stated to qualify for all 7 of the original servant classes and it is cool to see him as a ruler here. Gate of Babylon is not only the treasures he has collected but it constantly expands on it's own to contain all treasures that are based on the wisdom of Babylon. So he has airplanes, submarines, countless magical weapons and artifacts created after him. Pretty much the only things he doesn't have are alien artifacts and divine constructs... though he has put some in there himself. He actually has completely lost track of what he has or not.

Li Shuwen is interesting in that he's used in-universe as the example for one of the Servant summoning system's functions. If you're seen as having multiple peaks throughout your life, you'll be registered as multiple Servants in the Throne of Heroes. Therefore, Li Shuwen can be summoned as a young man or an old man. For example, imagine if both Hajime and Izuru could be summoned separately. One was said to have defeated Junko, the other was said to have enabled her. And each one was aware of the other.

So...let's talk a bit about Gilgamesh and the reason he's so utterly OP. So to start: there's a certain rule in Fate: the older something is the more powerful it gets. There are several reasons for this. The older an object is, the more "mystery" it gains or to put it another way older things have more mystique and history tied to them. In the Nasuverse this grants them extreme power. The second reason is that the older something is, the closer it is to it's "origin" or platonic ideal. Basically everything in the universe is to some degree, a copy of an "ideal" which is a concept introduced by Plato. Thus, most things in the modern world are "copies" of older more ancient things. In the Nasuverse, being closer to the original grants an incredible amount of power. In fact, its basically a rule that a copy can never overcome an original except in some very specific circumstances. Gilgamesh is the oldest hero in recorded history. This means that his age grants him an insane amount of mystery AND he is also the closest thing to the platonic ideal of a "hero" which means literally every heroic spirit is to some degree a copy of him (and you've heard the rule about copies). Not only that, in life Gilgamesh was noted collector of treasures, to the point where in the Nasuverse, it was said that he had collected all the treasures of the ancient world. These' "treasures" are the originals for EVERY SINGLE NOBLE PHANTASM. That's Gate of Babylon's true feature: it contains the "prototypes" for every weapon and power in human history which Gilgamesh is free to fire at will. Since they are "prototypes" they are in turn more powerful than even the versions that appeared in mythology. There are some Noble Phantasms that do not have their originals in the Gate, notably certain divine constructs. Despite this, Gate of Babylon is one of the most absurd Noble Phantasms ever as not only is it essentially every other Noble Phantasm combined, it's every Noble Phantasm improved and then combined. He also as two other Noble Phantasms unique to him, one of which (if you can believe it) is even more absurd that Gate of Babylon that luckily he doesn't use against Iori.

Did no wrong, very powerful from birth, can charm anyone, and even the only fuck up he had - letting the potion of immorality he had get eaten by a snake, is bandaged by the fact he gets over it and doesn't mind it while the reason he even looked for it wasn't really an issue. It's why his true NP can just wipe everything except himself out of existence - cause his tale (him) said so

@@icefiredragon94 Gary sue ? Oo charm anyone? Gilgamesh from the Epic was an actual tyrant feared by the gods themselves that's why they decided to create Enkidu from clay so he could stop him (he had A LOTS OF WRONGS). Which didn't happen since those those two fought and became equals/friends (and even lovers in the Epic) . The snake was the only fucked up ? Not at all .....He feared Humbaba whom they fought and Enkidu made the final blow. He litteraly rejected Ishtar advances (the patron deity from Uruk and goddess of fertility and war) and insulted her. She cried to her father so he could lend her Gugalana the Bull of Heaven that she threw in Uruk. Gilgamesh and Enkidu fought it and did beat it (Enkidu threw the beast butt in Ishtar's face) . The gods were so angry they decided to kill those two. Shamash one of the gods managed to lessen Gilgamesh sentence but not Enkidu. He (they in fate) died , Gilgamesh holding his corpse for days and realising he lost his most precious treasure. After that Gilgamesh realised his mortality and feared death (he was called the king who didn't want to die) and went for the herb of immortality. His journey is litteraly a journey of redemption and and mourn for his friend. After the herb was stolen he realised the futility of his quest and also understood that the journey was what mattered and not the result in the end.He realised for once that all of his efforts were in vain and accepted it. It litteraly changed him and then he became a wise king and died of old age. The Epic of Gilgamesh is not only the oldest Epic but is also such a beautiful story of ones redemption and ones journey . I was only able to make a short summary since it's such a rich story (plus fate changing some small parts of it and also english not being my first language) If one day you have the chance to actually read it please do it's really good especially Jean Bottero actual translation of the Epic^^. Also his weapon is named after one of the major mesopotamian god and his np name comes form the mesopotamian Myth of Creation It can't exactly wipe anything out of existence (like the planet which is protected by the counter force Gaia and Araya in nasuverse) but can destroy creation (it comes from the creation myth after all) and Enkidu has the exact perfect counter to it.

So the game doesn’t really explain the Gate of Babylon and how broken it is that well, so I will do my best to. Gilgamesh has a legend where he travels and collects all the world’s treasures and stores them in his Treasury, which is the gate of Babylon. What this means is that Literately every treasure is within his possession, including weapons. Now here’s where it gets nuts. This includes the “Prototypes”(meaning better versions) of all weapons that will exist, including almost every physical non-divine noble phantasm, and absurdities like ancient Babylonian Guns, and the ancient Babylonian Nukes.

Random Fate Trivia #15 So in the last episode, they did touch upon the concept of "protecting Mystics". Even though it can be seen as just letting the normal people stay ignorant and oblivious to the supernatural, it's actually much bigger than what the game is trying to tell the players. I figure the reason they aren't going as hard to explain in detail is due to the time period and location, as we can somewhat see Japan has had not many brushes with the west. All in all, Mystics (equivalently called Mysteries) are basically the supernatural. The longer a thing, person or concept goes on, their mystery accumulate over time, which means its harder to explain away and can be abused for Magecraft purposes. Servants are a kind of Mystic, as they should be, as they are a representation of their real self who has already created a legend that is passed down. This circles back to knowing Servant identities and Noble Phantasms. The more people know about a certain mythological figure that ends up being proven true, the less powerful they have as their mysticism can be explained with human knowledge, the same goes for Magecraft. So if people knew about Takeru's Noble Phantasm and it ends up going public, they would actually become weaker since their Noble Phantasm can easily be explained and lose its sense of mystery, ditto for identity. Not physically weaker but weaker in the sense that they become more predictable and their Noble Phantasm loses its overall power since it relies on mystery (as Noble Phantasms are representations of that person).

As I understand it, the power level of a given Servant/Hero seems to scale relative to how ancient they are and how recognisable they are in general. So Gilgamesh is I believe the most powerful conceivable Hero because he's the oldest known legendary figure (there are older ones, like Atrahasis or Ziusudra, but as far as I know their legends aren't particularly well known, whereas the Epic of Gilgamesh is a pretty globally known "ancient story"). This on top of the feats attributed to Gilgamesh in his legends, including flipping off gods for one reason or another This scaling I believe modifies the abilities that the Heroes have attributed to them - like for example how Cu Chulainn's Gae Bulg is supposedly guaranteed to kill anyone it's thrown at in morbid fashion, or how Arjuna can theoretically summon the Brahmastra to literally destroy the entire universe - so they aren't horrifically unbalanced.

So, about Gilgamesh. He's humanity's first hero, with the Epic of Gilgamesh being the oldest recorded work of fiction. It is said he collected every treasure in the world. Fate lore uses this to explain his strenght, As the original owner of "everything", he's able to summon his treasures years after his death, with many of the weapons having become noble phantasms. As long as you are a heroic spirit of some renown, you can't defeat him, as he is likely to have a weapon that targets your weakness somewhere. Also, his normal class is Archer, and he fights the same way he does here: by shooting swords like homing missiles. It's a joke in the Fate community that most Archers will use literally anything except bows and arrows. BTW his boss theme is a remix from his Fate/Extra subseries theme, where he also makes an appearance. Oh, and to show just how much he's been holding back, the ammount of projectiles he usually uses is much higher, he's in a class he's not used to, and he doesn't even use his real noble phantasm here. To give you an idea how strong that one is, I'll just say it's class is anti-world.

There is also Tamamo Vitch but we haven't met the true one yet as she only appeared as her counterpart Tamamo Vitch Koyanskaya in FGO. The system does not distinguish past or future, it simply records any hero that existed in the world. Li shuwen was born in 1862 while edo period ended in 1868, it is for this reason that he just gave his name away, cause no one would know his name. The only reason we don't see servants from the future in most war is that the master needed a catalyst that correspond to a hero, like the comb if you want ototachibana. Anti-World Noble Phantasm. Gilgamesh can indeed go full Dragon Ball Z and go 'Fuck this planet' if he so desires. This means (In fate lore) their strongest version. So yes. Gil is legit throwing nukes at you and he wasn't even trying. You DON'T want to get on his bad side. There are limits, while every weapon noble Phantsom is inside of it, skill ones will not be, so, for example. Let's say there's a servant with a NP that grants them immunity to poisons passively. Gates of Babylon will not have it inside, BUT, is there is a NP that's a weapon that also grants that buff, then yeah, it'll have it. But there is a small thing you may have noticed, when he's angry OR his hair is slit back, he gains a small little golden glow in his eyes. Hinting he's about to attack.

Just so you know, you only fought Gilgamesh in his weakened state since he's a Rouge Servant. If you fought him in his full power, he'd be fighting Sephiroth but 50x worse and with more BS attacks

Boss is in fact one of the strongest servants in all of fate. The way they portray him in this game, he's not just holding back, he's straight up playing with you. I'm not sure how much weaker he is as a rogue, but if boss got serious it's very likely that he could destroy all of Edo, everyone in it, and the entire ritual. Seeing boss go all out is always a treat if you ever get into some other fate work that has him in it.

He in fact IS considered the strongest servant, or very close too it. His list of abilities, powers, and feats are stupid, even in his actual myth. That said, the one that's important to this fight his what he's using to fight you, his treasury To keep it simple, anything that humanity has had and considered a treasure or valuable in some way, it is in his treasury that he can access any time with those portals. This includes weapons, armor, vehicles, technology, literature, and so much more! He can not only summon them, but actively fire them from said portals. There is no real limit to the amount, range, or configuration to said portals either. Their might be a limit now since he's a rogue servant, but not enough to matter too much. This is also how he fights NORMALLY. Rapid firing weapons that have any number of effects ranging from curses, to ignoring defenses, elemental weapons, and so on. It's what most people know off when it comes to him, the ability to spam the most powerful weapons to ever exist like their bullets from an A10 warthog. Mind you, most of those are actually noble phantasms that other servants have a well. He basically has the original, better version. He's an absolute monster in terms of power and your either love or hate him for it P.S. That tablet is a BIG fucking deal. Him giving it to you at all is insane

Honestly all this hype the comments are building for Gilgamesh being the strongest(While mostly incorrect), is still going to have an extremely funny side consequence. If Nico ever ends up going through Stay Night, its going to make a certain moment in the second route hit so much harder AND funnier.

Gilgamesh is generally recognized as THE Strongest Servant that can be summoned to a Grail War normally. That said there is one other Servant who is his equal and others who can rival him in power, case in point here Arjuna were he not limited as a Rogue Servant would be one. Of course I specify Servants that can be summoned in Grail Wars, in the Mobile Game the story circumstances there allowed for more Servants who wouldn't be able to be summoned in a Grail War who can be put in the same tier as Gil, and there are beings who surpass him in Fate Lore.

Gilgamesh is just too demon powerful, he's like Sephiroth on Kaio-ken steroids.

the logic behind servant summoning is they usually cant be summoned when they were alive, mostly after they died the thing is, the throne doesn't differentiate not existing because you died with not existing because you weren't born yet!

This goes somewhat deep into fate lore, but heroic spirits are being s that are recognized by "alaya" a primordial force of humankinds Will for their supernatural feats as humans and upon recognition are sent to the "throne of heroes" which exist outside time and space. Usually to summon a heroic spirit you need a catalyst, something that binds you and that heroic spirit, it can be an artifact, that used to be in that spirits possession or something that symbolizes that spirit, therefore it is not impossible (for example by being in possession of something that down the line becomes a Heroic Spirits possesion) but highly unlikely to summon a spirit from the future, though this game forgoes that normal summoning mechanic completely to begin with.

Just imagine if he had Ea in this form. ... Actually, if he did, he probably would have just nuked the entire city before the war even started and been done with this entire thing.😅

Nico, there is a skip previous read text function that helps so much for New Game Plus, it is also good to not skip unread/new content/story.
