Sky News host James Macpherson says “all hell broke loose” when Tasmania decided to mark Queen Mary’s proclamation by flying the Danish flag.
Queen Mary’s home state of Tasmania marked her historic proclamation by flying the Danish flag over Hobart’s Parliament House on Monday, but the gesture drew the ire of an Indigenous group.
The gesture meant the Aboriginal flag was not displayed on Monday while the Australian and Tasmanian flags remained hoisted.
Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre campaigner Nala Mansell said the removal of the flag showed a “lack of respect” for Indigenous people.
“Just for a day, they removed the Indigenous flag to fly the flag of Denmark, and all hell broke loose,” Mr Macpherson said.
