We're back! Part 5 in the series breaking down MultiVersus character move-set origins. I'm hoping RU-vid allows this video to stay public. #multiversus #friday13th #eastereggs #JasonVoorhees
The axe has one more reference In Friday the 13th part 3, he kills a character named Andy by cutting him in half with an axe while Andy is doing a handstand The way he brings the axe down is similar to how it's done in Multiversus
The moonwalk was a shock when I first saw it but Im glad it's one more direct game reference. In the Friday game itself, The moonwalk is not only a sort of taunt but also a tech as it allowed you to avoid being stunned by people wearing Pamela Vorhees's sweater.
Its crazy that Jason had went from Paramount Pictures to Warner Bros in the past few years. I must say for me that Jason was kind of an unexpected choice to be Multiversus. But still cool to play as him against Shaggy and Velma.
They had the rights to the past few movies but they had to use Jason in the title since Paramount technically had theatrical rights to the name Friday the 13th, hence Paramount being involved in the remake. The reason why Jason has been absent from pop culture is the lawsuit from these past few years.
I think the reason Jason is so big in Multiversus is to solidify his role as a “Tank” making him stand out from the crowd. Instead of him just being a normal looking-murderous person, they probably made him bulkier to make him look unique, and strong, showing his brutal strength. Or he is just that because to make the game somewhat child friendly, or he has been bulking up.
I was also thinking it could be for range purposes and certain animations like the bed. If he looked smaller it might look weird when he lifts it. I do think hes still a tad big tho😅.
i definitely feel like freddy vs jason is the main inspiration behind the outfit. Not only is that a WB produced movie (which granted all of them that use that general style are but that one in particular) but also its good for a very baseline jason look. Combine that with his part 3 mask from before it started getting damaged, the chain he wore in part 7 to indicate his status as a revenant, and some general wildnerness survivalist elements like his boots and you get this.
Definitely not an exact copy of any particular design. But it defo takes most of its inspiration from the later entries (Pre-Uber Jason X, Freddy vs Jason, 2009 Remake). With a hint of more classic designs sprinkled in. Personally, I’d like to see Part 2, Retro Jason (as the 2017 game calls it), Roy Burns, Savini Jason (dlc bonus for the aforementioned game), and maybe even a Pamela skin down the line.
@@trustindean5164 It would have been really cool if they had given Jason some archery-related moves. I know that Jason having archery skills was only a thing that was shown with the 2009 reboot film universe's version of him, but who's to say that the original version of Jason doesn't have archery skills too?
I think the moonwalk is just in reference to how Michael and Jason are both very popular people from the 80’s. but it would be a really funny deep cut if the video game thing is actually true
Great Video, also Uber Jason didn't return to Camp Crystal, it was VR. Plus I think that this Jason variant in Multiversus was inspired by Pre Uber from Jason X, similar jacket, chain, hair?
I started playing the game again and unlocked him and when I played as him i was like *hes perfect* mind you this I absolutely love tank characters in platform fighters
Multiverses is pretty cool but halfway through my first rift I felt the humongous workload and it's fun but it's not really worth playing because you have to grind for so much money just to unlock more fighters
Technically they didnt beat uber jason they just got away. The sargent crashed into uber jason in space causing them both to fall to earth 2 burning in the atmospheric reentry and we see jasons burnt mask but the friday the 13th novels that are sequels to the movie mention how jason survived the fall and his nanoants rebuildt him. In the comic sequels jason just tanks the fall.
For anyone wonder why he was in a space station. They wanted to try and figure out how he can seemingly regenerate WITHOUT need for nanobots Also who else thinks there should be an H2O Delirious skin
4:04 I Love That You Use The Alpha Gameplay Of Friday The 13th Game I Vividly Watch That Vid For The Nostalgia The Game That Introduced Me To My Gamesharing Partner🖤🤣
The design used for him in Multiversus is very similar to his look in Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle. Except in that game, he is more blocky compared to the more round look in multiversus
Jason Voorhees lives at Camp Crystal Lake, But never encounters Wildlife. In a future Friday The 13 Movie, I wanna see Jason go up against a Pack of Wolves or A fully grown adult Grizzly Bear.
I tried Multiverses for the first time a week ago and really like it but after around 8 hours of playing I have only unlocked 1 character I care about. Am I doing something wrong or is the game too grindy and I should quit
Jason Voorhees is getting all this extra attention. I kind of want to see them finish Uber Jason. Let's says they do a streaming series and stuff let's see a good 6-8 episode series revolving Uber Jason
I have no idea why Jason was added in a kids game. Especially the move set that is inspired by the movies he is in and his mortal combat counterpart. But I still like his Buffy design. Suits him very well
I'm glad you spoke about the Friday the 13th game in this video, it had me reminisce on when i used to be a survivor and ducking in cabins to get away from the brute, to being the big man himself and slamming teens heads into shards of broken glass on a windowsill. I really wish we still had that lovely game with us today, i'd be playing it instead of writing this comment.
Love your videos but a smaller RU-vidr take; maybe the thumbnail would be a lot more optimal if your B shot in the thumbnail was more clear. For the Morty one it was clear as day they were similar where as this one you can’t see Jason is doing a similar action at a glance. You probably have A/B testing so it might be the move to pick an action more noticeable!
2:55 the design seems to be heavily inspired by his appearance in Freddy vs Jason from his black shirt and brown jacket which isn't inspired by the remake since his jacket in the remake is black with a diamond like pattern on it, what does seem to be inspired by the remake are his tan colored boots which are more akin to the tan desert colored Vietnam war style jungle boots he wore in the remake (he does also wear tan boots in part 4 and 6 although they are so dirty and weathered to the point they look black in the film). And while yes the chain is definitely from part 6 the way it's snapped seems to be more of a reference to part 7 where that same chain from the end of part 6 gets snapped by tina (a final girl with telekinesis) bringing him to the surface where he would wear that chain for the rest of the movie just like it looks in multiversus. And while yes Jason's mask in part 3 has the same red Chevrons in the hockey mask it's probably taken over from the Freddy vs Jason design where he had the same 3 red Chevrons. 5:07 while Jason is probably known for only walking similar to Michael Myers he did run in his first few movies, it was only until after he died in part 4 and was resurrected in part 6 that he would only walk although there is the thing with him teleporting off camera which really only happens in part 8, maybe him being a resurrected corpse (or deadite if you ask Jason Goes to Hell director Adam Marcus) has something to do with that? 7:14 it isn't specifically his mother's voice, just a voice in his head (or his own voice telling himself) telling him to kill for mother 3:12 his hulking size could be a reference to part 3 Jason's huge neck and massive hunchback, or the remakes massively deformed neck, probably more to part 3 since his hunchback gives him a similar appearance to multiversus.
He uses an axe in part 3 and was "killed" by said axe when it gets enbeded in his skull..... which is how the iconic crack in the top corner gets there in subsequent movies. Also for those who haven't seen the movies, it's not "CHI CHI CHI -KA KA KA" It's "KI KI KI - MA MA MA" (kill for mommy)
The Horror Stomp reference has to be from Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood. There's a scene towards the end where he walks over and attempts to smash Nick, Tina's boyfriend, with his boot 😅
I hate this. I feel that one of my favorite horror movie antagonists is being turned into a caricature of his former self all for the sake of new line's profits. Anyone who knows anything about Jason knows that he really doesn't belong in Multiversus. This is a character from a franchise of R rated movies known for their gore, brutality, and vulgarity, so why is he amongst the likes of Buggs Bunny and Fin the Human. It just feels like an insult to a character that introduced me to a genre, perhaps even worse of an insult than the small developers of Friday the 13th resurrected being threatened for simply making a passion project. Then they decide to do this. This is just like how Indiana Jones was ruined. Its happening again.
Si Jason esta en el juego, eso significa que ahora pueden meter cualquier personaje de terror o +18, pues digamos que Viernes 13 no es algo apto para todo publico
To be honest I feel his design kinda looks more like his main look from Jason X (before he goes all Uber) He has the brown torn up jacket The Skin with the small bits of hair And the chain around his neck
