8:23 this just reminded me that chain of memories is one of the more darker stories of kingdom hearts since it essentially boils down to a bunch of cultist mentally torturing a bunch kids for their personal gain, at least with sora's story.
I think it might actually be the darkest story in KH. It especially helps that the villains are a bunch of new people we've never seen before vs. KH1 that was a bunch of familiar disney villains for the most part.
When you think about it, it’s even darker than that. It’s a bunch of beings that shouldn’t actually exist doing nothing but being assholes. Marluxia, Axel, and Larxene betray Vexen. Axel betrays Larxene, Zexion, and Marluxia. Riku Replica betrays Marluxia and Zexion. On top of all that, Larxene and Marluxia use both Namine and Sora while Vexen and Axel use both Riku and Riku Replica. It’s literally just about them using others while some of them betray the others
Agreed, even Riku's story is pretty dark, or at least sad. The kid is gripping with the fact that he nearly murdered his two best friends and is terrified of going off the deep end again due to the power he wields. It's really sad cause again..they're just fucking kids at this point.
With the right deck, it's quite difficult to measure the difficulties of the bosses, as most die all the same. Use Jafar + Sonic Blade and/or Blitz and/or Ars Arcanum and conquer most ground bosses. Air bosses (like Dragon Maleficent) are immune to this, and thus, are more difficult by default.

Thinking about it, it's probably my favorite title as well. The mechanics are satisfying and (for better or worse) we get introduced to a bunch of cool characters. I pretty much picked up a GBA to play the original back in the day and while the remake lacks some of the charm of the original, it was a solid transition. Then there's the fact that you can replay the game as Riku. Considering I played through the game multiple times on the GBA, PS2, and in the HD collection, I must have twice as many playthroughs compared to any other title in the franchise.

Glad to know that Riku 4 is still just as unbelievably difficult in the remake as he was in the Gameboy version. I've never been able to get past him in the GBA original.
@@PlayThenReview sonic blade barely did any damage in gba version. Honestly most attack sleights were kinda useless back then. I think ReCoM might have overcompensated by making them too OP
Sora and Riku definitely have way too many complex emotions for each other and I feel for KH4 they should just drop keys mid battle and share some heavy steamy star fruit if you know what I mean
riku 4 was the only boss that really walled me in my first complete playthrough of com on the gba these last 2 weeks so I'm glad to see him at the top of the list here for re com
My first ever attempt at oogie boogie I ended up reloading to the point that I had no more cards to reload. I thought it was impossible because of that and quit till completing the game a few months ago.
Lol I struggled with too before I realized what you had to do. Ursula might be one of the hardest for me. Definitely died on heor more than most of the human bosses
I’m liking the new title thing for each boss, looks nice and slick, or Simple and Clean, if you’d prefer Maybe it’d be cool if you did ones for the other “spin-offs” in the series, like BBS (You upload it and the last half is just “Every boss with Terra”)

If it helps with Helm Split, I found that jumping and gliding over him as he lands the 3rd jump actually dodges both the jump attack and the pillars afterwards. It doesn’t feel like it should work, but it does.
Wonder what’s next dream drop distance or birth by sleep or re:coded and when he does birth by sleep will he do repeat boss fights with each character with an example being the magic mirror boss with Terra and magic mirror boss with Aqua having separate spots on the list or is he only going to add the harder fight
I feel so called out by that tangent near the end because I always name my first dream eater highwind out of the unshakable belief that Sora still feels bad about not letting Riku name the boat.
Have u ver played Yu-Gi-Oh duelist of the roses ? Probably my favorita Yu-Gi-Oh game ever ( didnt play a Lot of them kk ) i think It would be cool a top duels from easiest tô hardest of this game. Ansem, lol he kicked my ass for like 2 hours my first time through. Also, I always thought Marluxia 2 phase 1 was way harder than phase 2 (especially when you accidentally bring the wrong deck, lol)
i remember Larxene 2 being tough but Vexen 2 drove me up the wall. It's nuts cause you just fought him so "how bad can he get?" good gosh i was not prepared XD
Majority of them were pretty easy but the hardest for me was larxene and Riku. Riku was the main reason I wasn’t able to beat the gameboy version of the game.
fun fact about the 1st Marluxia fight he will teleport after 1 lethal frame however if you do 2 dodge rolls backwards right after 1 he will not & coincidentally lethal frame's range is the same as 2 full dodge rolls and you only need like 9 to kill him
I don't think Keyblades are boring weapons. I think Axel's Keyblade is stupid. Like they went with an initial design in DDD and couldn't be bothered to actually fixed it even though they fucked both the Way to the Dawn and the KK-D. Like they could have simply given Axel the Bond of Flame. The chakram are in the desing and the Keyblade change would make sense when he just breaks the blades into the chakrams and use that to attack.
I beat this game on the game boy when I was in elementary, I had no clue what I was doing I pretty much just strong armed my way through the game , Captain Hook was hands down the hardest boss in the game on the game boy .
I always remember Vexen 2 giving me the most trouble, but I don't remember exactly why. I always wished Riku's path was harder though. The changes for his gameplay are neat but make him arguably overpowered compared to his bosses.
Riku V.S Sora be like 14:23 Riku: "Omg you never cared about how I felt." Sora: "What? That's not true Riku I LOVE YOU." Riku: "Yea right like I can believe that when my heart is hurting so bad." Haven't seen the video yet but can we all agree that the last riku replica fight as Riku is the hardest boss of the game? Both on CoM and RE:CoM it was one of the only fights were I had to grind because i couldn't beat it.

Man i genuinely got stuck trying to beat Ansem for like 4 days straight the last time i played this game just some years ago, i 100% refuse to believe he somehow lands all the way at the 3rd easiest boss, below goddamn Jaffar and Axel 1
I struggled in this game a lot a couple months ago. I didn't properly learn the mechanics properly until I got to twilight town with sora. Might visit this game for a replay after I do my first KH2 critical run.
Marluxia 2 and 3 was a cakewalk for me in proud mode, i usually use the jafar and maleficent enemy cards for most of my fights as sora. have a couple 0 cards to break sleights, 1 or 2 item cards, use good attack card deck placement and he shouldnt be too much trouble.
Hey, I've got no issue with using cheese for these fights, I'm the guy who got through about 50-70% of the game on nothing but Sonic Blade and Trinity Limit for bosses and normal fights respectively.
My problem with this game is that there isn't much prescient for strategy or using different sleights. For any playthrough I have done the game is practically over once I have sonic blade, it demolishes every human boss (save Axel 2 because of how he teleports) and even if you don't go down that route there's so many ways to spam stun locking sleights at everything. I remember in most of the Riku fights when I linked 3 or 4 Sonic blades Riku would go "You gotta be kidding." which I don't know if that is said if you string a normal combo on him, fitting all the same.
For me Dragon Maleficent was absolutely pathetic, not sure if it's because of my deck or because her AI was too lazy to attack me, on the other hand both Larxene encounters turned me absolutely mad. As for Vexen, fire magic spam solved the problem entirely.
Whoa, whoa, WHOA. You can't just plop one of the hardest fights in the game, Larxene, in middle place and say literally nothing about her fight. Unless you're holding back some non-Sonic Blade strat from us.
