Ryan D Tibbetts I have to disagree he is in destroy all monsters, the book that tells the history prior to planet of monsters and he’s in Godzilla unleashed
I remember reading about Maguma & seeing a still of him in Famous Monsters of Filmland back in 1977. A while later I saw Gorath in tv & saw that the scenes with him were cut out of the English dub. Thank you for posting them on youtube.
in the Monster Planet prequel novel, Monster Apocalypse, Maguma is said to attack North Korea, completely destroyed it. I think that was meant to be a joke
@Bawsah Koopa 2.0 No, Maguma destroyed North Korea in the novel (to be more exact he brought the TOTAL destruction) and was later stopped when he tried to attack Seoul in South Korea.
SpaceHunterM Good catch. Lovecraft shuddered with dread when he contemplated the bizarre Antarctic ecosystem of which penguins and walruses were the only survivors.
Maguma is some kind of prehistoric reptile, that resembles a Walrus. I feel bad for Maguma, not only was it a Kaiju, but just an animal that has adapted and evolved on Earth for a long time. Its only wish, was too remain hidden in its slumber, probably the last of its own kind. Attacking the base, because humanity while trying to save himself, also messed with Maguma's home by warming up and melting the ice that covered him in his sleep, angry, Maguma went after the humans for revenge, only to be killed by their laser. Maguma is now probably one of my most personal favorite Kaiju's out there. I've never given him much thought, until recently, hopefully in a future Kaiju film, he'll be seen again on screen.
Fact: old guy in the costume, friend of Ishirō Honda, gave him the job 'cause he needed the yen, original name of the beast was going to be, Sockotuski (the costume was made from wool woven from old socks).
I wish maguma would get in singular point or a movie. He’s get like no attention at. He was originally meant to be in DAM but was replaced with gorosaurus. Maguma is so underrated
Tomoyki Tanaka insisted on putting Maguma in the film because he felt all Toho's science fiction films needed a monster in them. Ishiro Honda hated the idea, but being a company man went along with it anyway. Maybe if they put him in a Godzilla film or in his own stand alone film he would have been better remembered.
@@hedo1971 the movie isn’t focused on him. The movie is focused on the weird planet called “Gorath” that will destroy earth. Which is why this movie is called Gorath. Maguma is just a small side kaiju
Maguma was originally gonna be in Destroy All Monsters along with Ebirah from Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, but both got replaced. Kinda how Manda from Atragon got put it.
There were bearlike dinosaurs, wolflike dinosaurs and sharklike aquatic saurians (not technically dinosaurs). IDK of walrus-like dinosaurs, but there could have been. And of course, kaiju are not precisely dinosaurs....
hello can you make all the kaiju scenes like sanda gaira godzilla rodan anguirus mothra baragon varan gorosaurus king ghidorah gigan megalon jet jaguar frankenstein gezora kamoebas ganimes ebirah gabara kamacuras minilla and kumonga
@@windows7504 As much as I like Legendary for making great new Kaiju movies one must not forget that they only include a monster in a movie if it is famous enough or if it's their own creation. Neither Maguma, nor Manda or Ebirah are nearly famous and popular enough for Legendary to include them in a movie. They would consider this a waste of money. It is no coincidence that the new Godzilla movie includes King Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan. These are the most known Kaiju beside Godzilla himself. King Ghidorah has a very unique and iconic design, Mothra is just popular because she is cute and Rodan is just iconic. Everybody loves a giant flying dinosaur. Classic. If the mere idea wasn't so outlandish they would have definitely included Mechagodzilla, but it's pretty noticeable that they went with a more realistic approach.
At least when a monster was forced into Atragon, Manda may not have had much screen time but at least had plot relevance Here the monster really is pointless and has even less screen time than Manda
You know what Back in the mid 1960’s Director Ishirō Honda Producer Tomoyuki Tanaka and special effects Eiji Tsuburaya should bring Maguma Kaiju Monster 👹 Character in Invasion Of The Astro Monster (a.k.a Monster Zero or Godzilla Vs Monster Zero) (1965 Kaiju Movie) So Maguma will be King Ghidorah’s Team Mate Too fight Godzilla And Rodan!
Maguma is objectively one of the worst kaiju ever; aside from looking like shit (watch the Harryhausen Sinbad movies to see a giant walrus monster that actually looks GOOD) and being a silly idea, Maguma has literally nothing of value to add to the movie, only existing because Tomoyuki Tanaka was a one trick pony who panicked when there wasn't any kaiju to be had. It is not at all hard to see why the dub cuts Maguma altogether.
