Hell, I originally thought that when I bought mine initially. I was thinking "wow, this peripheral weighs a LOT more than I thought" only to find out it was its own separate thing entirely.
The Friend of Many Squirrels I know right. Not once did they say on the new console. They could have said on the new console with the new controller but they did not
Ahmed Ayoub that was really the only new thing about it, and it wasn't even that impressive. After what a success the Wii was I was really disappointed in the Wii U, I never got one
Definitely made me think about the comment I made back in 2010 when the Wii U was announced. My younger self called it, "A wii with HD graphics". When I look back on the comment I made, it definitely still holds up true to this day.
Pink Ken yeah! you can play Nintendo is not worry about other companies trying to do online multiplayer, people paying a lot of money just to be able to do that and so on, I remember when me and my friends a had the d's and the 3ds, we used play a lot with each other, good times.
Pink Ken Yes, and this is why the only consoles I buy are Nintendo consoles. The other consoles are just watered down wannabe PC's that can't even come to close to my PC
Who Else But Zane ? The N64 had many names during development. Project Reality was probably its first alias before they moved on to Ultra 64 and finalized it with Nintendo 64.
The Switch's one is just so awesome... it isn't cheesy, it shows exactly what the console is, they flashed the name up several times so that NO ONE can get confused about what this is and Jesus Christ I have had that song in my head for the last month... It wins on all counts and the massive interest in it and the hype it has generated is really testament to that.
Its amazing how different they can be yet so similar at the same time ... like you can tell they've stuck to their roots of simply just having fun. Good job Nintendo !
Genesis you mean? First of all, I was talking about the line at 2:35, which was the N64 trailer. Second, Genesis was not the first 16 bit console. I know at least PC-engine came before.
I specifically remember seeing the Switch trailer the day it came out in science class. I got the whole class(teacher included) sidetracked talking about it.
NES, SNES, and Gameboy all appealed to hardcore gamers. The N64 was misleading, the Game Boy Advance was boring, the DS was weird, the Wii was on point (pun intended), the 3DS concept was right in front of you (pun intended), the Wii U literally looked like an add-on for the Wii seeing how they showed Wii Sports and only said "New Controller", and the Switch tried to appeal to all gamers. *All gamers.* It's changed for the good my friend.
Anyone notice how the Switch is the only trailer that actually shows off the use you'll get out of it? for example the Wii is greatly exaggerated and wasn't even like that and the Wii U well, really no one used it like that. I feel with the Switch they wanted to promote it in ways you'll actually use it. Let's just say though the worst was the Wii U the marketing for that thing was terrible.
Wii U was so much better than the wii. Easier interface, still used the old one, so much better graphics. Also you don't need the tv, I typically just have regular cable running in the background unless playing ZombieU
Joseph F yeah, but you gotta realize that those were different times. those adds worked back then and sold millions of units. (except the wii u. that was even dumb for it's time. lol)
I've started to think that the Wii U was nothing but a ploy to keep people entertained with something (as well as with the New 3DS) while they were developing the Switch.
sneaky panda Yes, but then you'd have something much bulkier. Nvidia is behind the scenes with this console so I'm sure over time they managed to slim the design.
Kevin Teran I sure don't miss when there wasn't a paid option to expand an already huge game. My point. YOU UNLOCK JUST AS MUCH IN GAME AS YOU WOULD NORMALLY, YOU CAN GET MORE CONTENT THAN A NORMAL AMOUNT THROUGH DLC. at least it's how it works in Nintendo. Example: Mario kart 8. Mario kart 8 has the same amount of characters, courses, and karts as any other Mario kart. But you can multiply it by 1.5 through the dlc. Without dlc, it's still the standard Mario kart experience.
Hey its not "You need to pay" it's having trouble or want more content? Not on a budget? Well take this dlc pirate gear! And pirate map only 1.99 or 1.50 if your the first 100 buyers! And the first 10000 buyers will get ninja gear and a ninja map!
Anyone else notice during the WiiU reveal one of the first features of the WiiU was "Switch from your TV to the new controller." nice nod to their next console...Switch.
when i was five, i had a game boy advance sp, and i raged on it and snapped the hinge in half. Then i told my my mom, "mommy we can just glue it back together"
it's really shocking to see how they change their advertise / product quality / message etc with Nintendo Switch. Switch is what Nintendo should always be like - Great work Nintendo
coming from a gamecube to a switch hope it will be worth it did not like the controller on wii and wii u but the switch pro controller looks like a more traditional one and I might like the joy cons small hands
Nintendo has really come a long way and alot of gamers have been right along for that ride.Hope the Nintendo Switch finds it's place in this generation's homes as the Super Nintendo and Gameboy found a place in mine while growing up.
Trollsome it actually had. You see, Nintendo actually started cooperating with Silicon Graphics to create the n64 and the trailer was just a bit too early for them to know that they will call the console n64 so they mentioned its code name project reality
Apple thought Nintendo were going to go into PC manufacturing and wipe the floor with them and so Apple made a gaming console that was shit like they do with all their products.
Thanks for posting, this is great. Looking back, I can see now why Wii U was so confusing for some people. In the trailer they kept saying "Controller this, controller that" but never actually made clear that it was a new system altogether. I remember that you had to dig deep to even find out what the actual console looked like. Don't get me wrong, I still love my Wii U, but now I see why it likely failed.
Also, that DS commercial was just pure garbage. The Switch commercial is probably the most well-made commercial Nintendo has ever made. The Wii commercial is cringey, and the Wii U commerical makes me mad that the LoZ tech demo didn't reflect what Breath of the Wild would look like at all.
Pinkamena 'Diane'PiePlays You have the original GBA with no frontlight or backlight? Is it viable if you play during the day near a window? Do you need a wormlight?
I find it really interesting that in the newer ones they actually show games and what the system can really do. (the 3ds one was my fav, i miss Iwata.)
3DS commercial killed me. When Reggie walked in, he probably thought "OK, who let all the Nintendo items out of the 3DS?" He picks up the 3DS and starts laughing at Iwata and Mayamoto. Funniest thing I've ever seen! Well done with this video, NeoKoopa64! :D
I absolutely LOVE The GameCube! (Both the console and the trailer.) There’s just something about the music that makes me feel happy, excited, makes me hope they bring a Nintendo Switch Online Nintendo GameCube.
The NES and SNES one looks more like regular 30 sec ads than a reveal trailer... Anyway... Remember when console reveal were on TV or in Magazines ? Man, what I'd give to go back to these simpler times... The only trolls and fanboys you saw were in the schoolyard, not on RU-vid videos haha
GameDjeenie OMG FOR REAL! I honestly wish they really did keep it that way! back in the day you didn't get a bunch of trailers for a game, you couldn't data mine it, everybody went into it relatively blind. ahh the days of old~
