The writers knew that they had one last story hurrah with Fran Heflin, and they ran with it. Fra, as she was affectionately called, scored a touchdown.
Mona was no punk. She killed another dude named Jason Maxwell in the 70's who tried to rape Erica. Too bad ABC doesn't still have that old footage. They alluded to it earlier in this storyline when she threated Fields in the courthouse. She told him that she had committed murder before but he didn't believe it.
Boy can you imagine how surreal it must have been for Ray O'Connell and Fra Heflin to do a scene together considering that next to Susan Lucci they were the three longest survivng actors on the show.
Heflin is a superb actress but this is just not a convincing scene at all. This clearly sick weak old woman could not kill this man, clutching her purse to her side, and waving that knife like she was frosting a cake. Fran is just not a physically intimidating presence here. He can just shove her off balance and walk out the door. This scene should never have been written to include a knife instead of a gun.
Mona kane Dorian lord Alice Horton Kathrine chancellor and and Stephanie Forrester did not play around when it came to protecting their families back then
Didn't Richard have affairs with both Goldie and Vanessa? She had a son by him. I could imagine Louise Shaffer and Marj Dusay working together. Louise was an AMC writer during Vanessa's storyline.
I’m not sure about Goldie, but he did have an affair and father a child with Vanessa. It was actually revealed that Vanessa witnessed Richard Fields raping Erica. She was pregnant by Fields at the time, and was looking through the window of Eric Kane’s house and saw what he did. She’d heard rumors that he was a pedophile but hadn’t believed it till she saw him rape Erica. She never said anything because she was carrying his child.
