In the 1920s, American entrepreneur and car designer Henry Ford began developing a new car model to replace the famous Ford Model T, which had been produced for 18 years. According to legend, the first drawing of the future car was made by Henry Ford’s son, Edsel. At least, it was he who made sketches of the design options for the radiator and the car dashboard. The first copy of the new car, designated as the Ford Model A, was produced on October 20, 1927, and mass production began in December of the same year. During the production run, Ford made changes to the design of the car, the main of which were associated with the installation of a body with more space and improving its appearance. Cars produced after 1930 had a modified outside radiator, a new shape of the front wheel wings, and reduced wheels. Buyers were offered a large number of different options, among which it was possible to choose different types of body: coupe, convertible, sedan, phaeton, roadster, pickup, and others. Production of the Ford Model A ceased in 1931. A total of 4,849,340 Ford Model A models were produced in all variants.
The Ford Model A (also colloquially called the A-Model Ford or the A, and A-bone among hot rodders and customizers)[6] was the Ford Motor Company's second market success, replacing the venerable Model T which had been produced for 18 years. It was first produced on October 20, 1927, but not introduced until December 2..
By February 4, 1929, one million Model As had been sold.
Model A production ended in March 1932, after 4,858,644 had been made in all body styles.[11] Its successor was the Model B.
Prices for the Model A ranged from US$385 for a roadster to US$1,400 for the town car. The engine was a water-cooled L-head inline four with a displacement of 201 cu in (3.3 L).[12] This engine provided 40 hp (30 kW; 41 PS).[12] Top speed was around 65 mph (105 km/h). The Model A had a 103.5 in (2,630 mm) wheelbase with a final drive ratio of 3.77:1. The transmission was a conventional unsynchronized three-speed sliding-gear manual
The Model A came in a wide variety of styles including coupes (standard and deluxe), business coupe, sports coupe, roadster coupes (standard and deluxe), convertible cabriolet, convertible sedan, phaetons (standard and deluxe), Tudor sedans (standard and deluxe), town car, Fordors (five-window standard, three-window deluxe), Victoria, town sedan, station wagon, taxicab, truck, and commercial. The very rare special coupe started production around March 1928 and ended in mid-1929.
Several models have obtained particular fame. The Mean Green Machine, a green and black 1931 Tudor sedan, has been a staple of University of North Texas football games and special events since 1974, maintained by the spirit organization Talons since the 1980s. The Ramblin' Wreck, a 1930 sports coupe, is the official mascot of the student body at the Georgia Institute of Technology and appears at sporting events and student body functions. Ala Kart, a customized 1929 roadster pickup built by George Barris, won two straight "America's Most Beautiful Roadster" awards at the Oakland Roadster Show before making numerous film and television appearances. Between October 1992 and December 1994, Hector Quevedo, along with his son Hugo, drove a 1928 Model A 22,000 mi (35,406 km) from his home in Punta Arenas, Chile to Ford headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. The car required minimal service, including a flat tire and transmission work in Nicaragua, and is now housed in the Henry Ford Museum.[25] A 1930 Model A, used by the gangster John Dillinger to escape federal agents in 1934

I sat with my mouth open, flabbergasted a lot of the time, as you were building this ICM kit, Chris. This is the way all model kit companies should tool model parts for assembly. The level of realism has been raised by ICM.

I was 15 years old in 1980 when I first built the tamiya McLaren MP-4B. No clear. Lepage glue. Lost the side mirrors. 😢Now im 58, and during COVID i bought the same kit again after watching your videos. Re build came out much ,much better. It’s sitting in a glass case. I have now built dozens of kits and I’m still enjoying every minute. A huge thank you, Chris for re igniting the passion. ❤ Cheers Chris 🍻 From 🇨🇦 John

My first model was a monogram kit my dad bought me of an early ‘30’s Ford pickup truck (hotrod). It was yellow with black fenders and i think a white convertible top. I had watched my brother build a model and I was totally enamored, but he’d scolded me not to touch it. I think my dad recognized my interest and went to our local drug store (in the late 60’s early 70’s drug stores carried model kits and paints) and bought and surprised me with the kit. I remember building it, brush painting it and putting a hundred miles on it rolling it around on the kitchen floor. I’ve never found and rebuilt the kit, but I give my dad 100% credit for introducing me to a hobby I’ve loved my whole life. Dad died a few years ago with dementia but i hope he knew how much I loved him and thanked him for everything he did for me - big and small.

My first model? Jeez. I was 8. It was the 70’s. I believe it was late fifties chevy modified stock drag car. My father helped me. The model was molded in orang plastic. We did NOT paint it. I was thrilled. Played with for about a week till i broke it. Then played with it as a “wreck” for another week or so. I never rebuilt that particular model. But I DID move on to build hundreds of plastic model kits in my life. Cars, planes, trucks, military vehicles, ships. Man it’s been fun.

My first model was. 1934 roadster. 15 years ago, I was diagnosed with parkinson's disease. My doctor suggested doing model cars to concentrate my brain to calm the tremors I have roughly fifty five different models that I have put together today. My wife wishes I had a cheaper hobby. But I can almost say that even my wife likes watching your videos. She gets up in the morning and turns your channel on for me and I watch your videos most of the day.

The first model I ever finished was an ambitious project. It was built with some help from my grandfather. It was the AMT 58 Impala kit, the trophy series issue with the blue box from 1964. It got a deep blue metallic paintjob, red crushed velvet interior with swiveling bucket seats from a Ford kit, a 55 Chevy dash board, narrowed rear end to fit the included rubber slicks without cutting the wheel arches, and the most detailed big block I could do at the time. Heater hoses, spark plug wires, fuel lines, you name it I did it all with thread... and the fuel line from the pump to the carburetor was a bent brass carpet nail. It was a fine product of the time. I hevn't gotten around to recreating it. I wish to do it again in the future, but now I have more knowledge on how to do it better. It would be a fun project.

I was around nine years old, my dad gave me a Model “A” model for my birthday. He helped me a little but insisted that I build it. I did not paint it but finished it pretty quickly and it looked like something a nine year old would do. That was around 1961 so the memories are a little vague.

When I was a kid, 1970/1980, my dad had a 1965 fast back mustang. He bought me a model and I tried to make it look just like his. Didn't go so well to say the least. I few months ago I bought another 1965 fast back mustang from modal round up and was able to duplicate it to the exact color and interior. Got a picture if you want to see it.

First kit was an Aurora 1/32 scale "Ram Rod" '32 Ford coupe hot Rod. There kinda rare and pricey now. I was 6 years old and it was .49 cents! First 1/25 scale kit was an AMT 1962 Mercury Meteor. My Dad had just bought a new Meteor and a few weeks later we were at the Seattle World's Fair and we got it at the AMT exhibit the was manned by Bud "The Kat" Anderson himself!

My first model was Tamiya Peugeot 206 Rally Car back in 01. I didn't paint it because the body was already white. Since then I was fascinated and obsessed with scale modeling. Then after couples of other built later, I rebuild and painted it. Watching this build is soo therapeutic with nice BGM, so simple car yet so many parts.

my first model was a 1980's Honda prelude, I was 23 years old and just got out of the military. The model helped me overcome a lot of post military issues. I have been out of the hobby since mid 90's but I just bought a few to start back up. Definitely going to rebuilt it to see if it would be any easier. love seeing your builds.

The first model I can remember building, I was about 9 yrs old around 1966. It was the 1928 Porter from the TV series My Mother the Car. Such car didn't actually exist, the prop car was a merger of several antique cars. My dad helped me build it and started me on model building. As far as I know, it has never been reissued, but occasionally one comes up on eBay.

My first model was the Dodge Little Red Wagon mid engine drag truck when I was about 11 or 12. My dad bought it for me after we watched the real truck race at Detroit Dragway. What an incredible experience! I remember the build didn't go so well. I may have glued the tires on backwards and installed the engine upside down. I'm now over 60 with a lot more modeling experience under my belt. So, I re-purchased the very same model and thought I would would give it another try with hopefully much better results. I've been watching your videos for a while now and have found many of your ideas and tips to be very helpfull.

Ford's 3rd company to make cars was Ford Motor Company. Famous for breaking the Seldon Car Patent that charged for EVERY car made in America. Henry named his first car after the popular style of the day - the Touring car or the "T". Then he built a new factory at an iron ore mine, closed shop for a year and opened with the Model "A". From a load of iron to finised "A" was FIVE hours. This build is epic, Chris. Super build!

My first model was a 72 Grand Torino fast back, I think it was a Johan molded in yellow. This was in the mid 70's. I remember this model well because a friend an I made our models into battle bots before that was even a thing. Adding nails and other apparatuses to inflict major damage to them as we sped them toward each other in crash up derby style. This Johan kit was king of the ring not sustaining any damage at all. I've not looked for this model since to do it up right as a display. Thanks for the question though. Brought back some fun memories.

A few days after being gifted this kit, I was perusing the parts and all the options, had the parts spread on the floor and may father walked by and inadvertently stepping the body cracking up the window fame upper body and grill opening. Luckily my older brother (who picked out this kit) had a13 year old friend who said he would fix the 'Vette body and build it Himself. Incidentally, this friend was just 13 at the time but had acquired with an actual beat up 1:1 60 Corvette he would complete in 4 yours with a deep marron paint job.. and a solid running 327. Anyway I got over the wrecked 60 Vette really quick because the next build was the AMT 1972 Old Pro Nova which I built again through my teen years as a pro stock both time with removable nose and orange shackles on the rear end. The second build when 18 was fully wired and plumbed but always Gloss BLACK.

My first model was the Tom Daniel-designed T'rantula dragster by Monogram. Yes, I built another one as an adult. It turned out MUCH better!

Hi Chris, this looks great! It's amazing what modern mold making can achieve. The only drawback in my opinion, is the molded in windshield wiper. I think this kit is a must have for me. My first model was a tiny H0 scale chapel from Faller for my model railway. I was 7 or 8 years old at the time. After a few airplane and ship models, I finally stuck with cars

Great Build Chris, awesome model A kit ICM . looks much more refined than other older offerings. Would you guys believe my first car model was a JoHan '64 Cadillac coupe DeVille. I painted it gunmetal grey and put some horrible aftermarket wheels on it. Decades later, after hanging onto this model, I decided that I couldn't afford to replace it, Johan kits are way too spendy these days. So I restored the kit and gave it a second life, it sits proudly in my cabinet in Lime green pearl with an ivory roof, lowered with nice wheels . It looks like a completely different car. Keep up the great work Chris, love your builds, your presentation and enthusiasm. Cheers Anthony.

My first kit was an Airfix Concorde that I built with my Dad when I was around 8. I did do another one a couple of years ago, mostly to replace the original, which fell off a shelf.

My first model kit was Monogram's Chevy Street Van back in about 1977. A few years ago I got another one and built it again. Turned out much better this time. LOL 40+ years of model building, still loving it. Thanks Chris for all the model reviews you do, it keeps the excitement alive!!

My first, after watching my brothers put kits together for awhile, was the Aurora ME-109 kit molded in a weird red plastic. This was in about 1968 or so. I have not seen one since. I remember that the pilot was split in two with each half molded with the fuselage halves.

My first model was a Honda NSX from Tamiya that my dad had brought me from Japan. I built it with him, and played with it for about a week before it fell apart, which was understandable since these models aren’t made to be played with.

My first model was an F-4 US Navy Phantom. I was about 9 years old and my dad helped me a lot, including when I messed up the decals. I have built several since and have at least one in my stash waiting to be built. I like watching your skills, the right amount commentary, even the music, and wanting everyone who wants to, to build a model. Keep it going please.

ICM we need a 1934 Sedan, to represent the infamous Bonnie & Clyde. This is a beautiful piece, maybe bring us a Cord or Packard or Whippet there are so many historical automobiles I would buy in 1\24{5} AND 1\48 and everything in between.

I built several snap-tite kits when I was a kid but couldn't tell what the first one was. However, the first memorable model for me was a 1982 Z-28 Camaro in 1/8 scale we picked up when I went to visit my grandma in OK. I was 13 or so. I built that thing while I was there. No paint, just as is. I was so proud of that car and then my 3 yo brother stepped on it and crushed it. I was devastated. I'm not sure how much that model cost then, but it's not cheap now for sure. I just remember how focused and enthralled I was while building. I still get that feeling. One if these days, maybe, I'll get a second shot. Thanks for what you do.

I have something to ponder for You Sir. This kit is fantastic as far as the detailing. The number of parts almost infinite. I applaud ICMs dedication to such quality in a kit,( as I am sure all of their kits are!). And even more so being they are in Ukraine and in the midst of a War. My pondering is this, "Why are kit Manufacturers here in the States so "Whimpey?" Cost over runs, production values, tooling costs, etc., etc., etc.. I am calling "Bologna!" The Best We can get are re-pops with flash and "New" tooling of the same old kits. Oh, don't get me wrong I am glad to see the old kits back,(that should "kick" the evil-bay gougers right in the pocketbooks!!) I refer to my previous statement, i.e., About Ukraine, War???? Why just imagine what could "have" been here in the states, if only they would pull their thumbs out of there. Sad, isn't it. Oh Sorry. Uhm, okay, yes, I have rebuilt many kids from my child modeling days, I was, am still, a BIG fan of Tom Daniel kits, the first of mine then was the Tijuana Taxi. Thank You for sharing with Us Chris! Take Care, Be Safe, God Bless, Later

My first was a 3 tank diorama. Tiny and over my skill level, I got them mostly done. I wasn't allowed to have paint, just glue. The kit frustrated me and delayed me from trying another model. Eventually I did. This was 1974, It was a Christmas gift.
