How are you liking CB so far?? Some extra things worth stating: - Even though Elemental Roundslash does have a guard point as well, it comes at the end of the animation, whereas the Shield Elemental Boost's is much more intuitive to use, plus it's faster! - The Focus Slash: Double Rend, one of the ways to get to savage axe, does a double slash, and only one of those two slashes needs to connect with a wound in order to get the savage axe finisher! - Learn how to Perfect Guard/Guard Point: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2NKYrgszpYk.html
haven’t played yet, but from what i’ve seen (mainly a 10 minute rey dau run), chargeblade has been nerfed. a hunting horn run did ~25% faster. EDIT: after further thinking, i believe chargeblade COULD be good but requires armor skills
I am loving CB in the demo. Being able to do AED and the new follow up and still stay in axe mode feels so clean. The only gripe I have is guard pointing feeling sort of pointless when perfect guard is needed to activate savage axe. Maybe I’m just doing something wrong but I can’t seem to get savage axe active off of a guard point, even when knock back is the lowest. Self-procs with a barrel bomb are simple enough that it shouldn’t be a big deal, but I hope investing in levels of Guard make activating savage axe a bit more reliable when there aren’t any wounds to pop or mount opportunities.
So they killed SAED. Added AED in the combo that nobody asked for. Then there’s no point of doing guard point because it don’t activate savage axe mode. Perfect guard is easier and has no knock back. You need to do a perfect guard to activate savage axe. I’m pretty much forced to use savage axe if I want damage. 🤣
One of the best tips I've seen in a guide video. PLAY AS YOU WANT! Optimal damage is not fun for everybody. The SAED path always welcomes new students.
Really hope the full game narrows the damage difference between SAED and SavAxe play styles. I much prefer a SAED style, but like you said, SavAxe is very noticeably stronger. I was taking minutes off my hunts when I switched to it.
The right face button attacks are the ones that apply phial damage. The top face buttons now can be influenced by directional input for repositioning, going left, right, or backwards now.
for the combo you recommended, in the couple speedruns I saw the loop I saw used instead was: element discharge > element discharge 2 > AED > AED followup > element discharge > .... I can't remember what effects phial cost on AED and AED followup but they each used half a phial in that loop and it looks like if you play right you can used that used basically the whole hunt, only stopping to refill phials or refresh shield/axe charge
Thx. Nice video mate. A suggestion for improving the video. It would be much easier to understand if in future you would briefly display the PS5 and Xbox buttons for the buttons mentioned.
my biggest gripe is that the hops got seriously nerfed compared to iceborne. The hops are just as tiny as what we got in Rise. CB offers amazing mobility with slides and hops. It just sucked that they nerfed one of the best parts about the weapon.
Perfect Guard seems to be much more stable (less knockback without having to invest in guard skills) while Guardpoint seems to have the advantage of dealing direct damage to the monster. I think the Wilds team should lower the gap between guardpoints and perfect guard in terms of knockback mitigation by buffing the guard level of guardpoints so that there is no high skill penalty to make GPs useful. They could also raise the ammount of general damage you deal by guardpointing so that both types of defense have more distinct niches. In this case, Guardpoints would have higher rewards but also higher risks and Perfect Guard could be less risky but also have less offensive capabilities.
more damage, and the shield stays charged longer. as far as I know, 5 regular phials charges the shield for ~140 seconds, while 5 overcharged phials is ~200 seconds. Haven't tested yet if that varies based on having 1, 2, 3, or 4 charged phials either
