Just what I've been waiting for.. What a stunning vehicle.. Absolutely underrated in South Africa. Pity we don't get much engine variations in this country though.
Wow Ciro You managed to cover so much information about the new Mazda 3 that is usable for a potential buyer and i just had to re-watch the video again. Mazda range has really impressed me, their cars are well build to last many years with no major issues. Interesting that Mazda they are not bothered with following the traditional route of adding some boost to their ranges and keep them simple. I forcee a Mazda brand parked in my garage and yes they are awesome cars.
I for one am proud of Mazda for staying the path away from the 'Sport' trend. Not every car has to be a Nurburgring rocket or entice robot dragstrip behavior. The sedan fixes that C pillar oddity and looks even better, if possible. I hope we get it because comfortable, efficient sedans are another thing we as South Africans just don't want.
"sport" is just one big scam im telling you. How to sell a low end car for more money: Step 1- install a cheap suspension and cardboard seats and call it "the sport package" Step 2-profit. I for one will never touch this sport nonsense that's going on. Daily drivers should be buttery smooth on the road and leave you refreshed after a drive, not so stiff and jerky that you HAVE to floor the accelerator to the floor just to get the trip over quickly due to how uncomfortable it is.
One of my favourite RU-vidrs. Pity he doesn't make more videos. As to the Mazda - I keep on 'almost getting one' until I visit one of their showrooms and am confronted by the typically poor skills, service and interest of the sales people.
The interior quality that Mazda offers is totally unmatched. Great quality and value for money. In fact, sitting in a Mazda feels like you're sitting in a much more expensive car.

I am a proud mazda fan and love the great handling a slick gearchange I am excited to hear there is a 6 speed in the 1.5 I always felt the old 1.6 (non skyactive) needed another gear . What a great car very underrated . essentially bullet proof and maintenance is extremely affordable compared to the german counterparts.
Mazda has really upped their game in the last 4-5 years, their cars are looking stunning. I would say their designs are rivalling the Italians these days, and dare I say this new 3 has some striking similarities to the Alfa Romeo Brera. Great alternative to over priced and expensive to insure Toyotas.
This car is stunning and very comfortable if its anything like the, Mazda 3 Dynamic 1.6, manual which I bought in February 2019. However, I am disappointed in a few things. There's no navigation included. That will cost about R5000-6000 extra for a memory card. It does not have Android Auto either, which will set you back about R3000. Parking sensors were not included in the mid-range model. If you going to pay just under R350-400K, check if these are included.

I love it, and the 3 year unlimited warranty & Service plan they have introduced are actually great, I wont complain about the pricing as much because our economy is simply going down the drain, and there is nothing Mazda can do about that either. I would legit get this car!

Do south africans prefer smaller engines? In Australia we get the 2.5 L engine which makes the 3 a bit of a warm hatch. Don't even get th 1.5L, seems so underpowered
It's not a matter of preference, it's a matter of economics. Fuel is expensive here, smaller engines are more economical so the demand is higher for more economic oriented cars. I would love driving around in a 2.5 L or bigger, but that would leave a significantly large hole in my budget because of fuel costs.
It's also what sells in this market, mid-high trims of most mainstream cars don't sell as well as the base or hot engine versions(golf/meagane).With the 2.5L engine and looking at this 3's rather steep(it's well specced tbh) price range it makes it a tough sell in comparison to the all rounder strong brand of the Golf GTI

@@TehMr its the opposite here, the higher trim levels sell better that mazda, Toyota, ford, Renault have recently dropped entry level models of their hatchbacks. I heard that apparently australia has the highest proportion of GTi sales within the golf range in the world, about 1/3 sold are GTi's.
Mazda 3 is a great car overall. I like the minimalist approach inside out. BUT the biggest issue I have with mazda is underpowering their vehicles. How do you get a 1.5l naturally aspirated engine is 2019, it's must be a tortoise on the road. I get that is comfortable but some more torque is always welcomed.
Well you are not going to be doing more than 120 kph so why would you need a bigger engine? Ayanda, are you breaking speed limits? Don't lie to me... confess!
Greetings from Bergvliet, Cape Town.Almost R400000, that's really pushing it for a hatchback.I take it that the 1.5l engine is another of these 3 cylinders which I'm not really all that keen on. I would rather stick with the 1.6l Golf 4/5/6, depending on the price of the Golf 5 and 6, the 2002-2009 Polo (pre-facelift) and maybe the 2002-2008 Fiesta (2006-2008 facelift).
That 1.5 will be a 4 cylinder, same 1.5 as in Mazda2...... but nonetheless 1.5 liters is too damn small... 2.0 will be better, but the Automatic sucks ass..... I know, because I live in Thailand, where I own a Mazda CX3, where the 2.0 engine only have an Automatic..... wish it was a manual...... I aim to sell my CX3 Automatic soon, because I hate the Automatic gearbox.
Looks good! Mazda have certainly been pushing for quality products, pity the local cars won't have the option of premium safety features like active cruise control and lane keep assist, after all safety shouldn't be marketed as a luxury feature on a car. I also hope that the navigation comes standard and not an additional cost to add the SD card like in the past.
@@releM15 I guess he got it wrong at 01:43 then. The Mazda SA website doesn't have the new Mazda 3 info up yet as far as I can see. Smart City Brake System (SCBS), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA) are only available on the Astina version of the current Mazda 3.
Why didn't the Ford focus come to South Africa though. That was my favorite car. But at least there is this one. Even though the lower specs don't come with blind spot monitoring, with that massive c pillar.
But I don’t understand why multinational car manufacturers would remove certain great features for other countries like third world South Africa 😮 Why is that!?
Lovely car that I'm waiting to buy but I'm certainly not paying for an individual model with that wheezy 1,5 engine, especially here at altitude. Wtf Mazda. Lost a sale
Michael Flinn you people like to criticize without solid reasoning. The car has a 1.5l motor N/A and produces better performance than a 1.0 TSi in the Audi and VW golf. Even the 1.2, 1.4s do not give you better. Yet to get them specced like this car you will pay even more. South Africans need to be educated more
@@releM15 88kw is weak and 156 toque is diabolical. I'm a huge Mazda fan but if they really want to push upmarket they going to have to plug the 2 l in to get me into the show room. Entry level is fine with 1,5. I'm not spending this type of money on the dynamic of individual models and get 88kw and hardly any torque at all. At attitude it's going to be a slug to drive.
Michael Flinn you are better off in an overpriced turbocharged Golf then. You clearly don’t have any idea about what Mazda is offering. What qualifies as upmarket for you is clearly different from what the rest of us know and have researched about Mazda and what they do.
The golf gives you 81kw @200nm a mere 44nm difference to that of the Mazda torque then you add another R35k you get it specced. You clearly know nothing.
@@releM15 WOW. I thought the first time I'd ignore you being insulting. Second time no. Clearly you don't have high expectations for your driving pleasure. At the reef altitude with an older type automatic gearbox it's going to struggle. Btw I'm a huge Mazda fan and very happy with my cx3. It's just a little short on boot space. If we had the 2 liter in dynamic or individual gise as in other markets I'd be on the order list already. In the mean time keep you rudeness/insults to yourself please.
the take away I got from this is the new Ford Focus won't be coming to SA, so VW Golf and Opel Astra will be the only exciting cars to drive in this segment :(
