As a homeowner/handyman I like Ryobi and when ready to buy I check out here for any reviews to see criticisms and if that is important to me. Good job in pointing those out, anyone can glow on the positives.

I bought it. Works great. Built the kids tree house and bunch of raised flower beds. Sucks a lot of juice off the batteries but it definitely gets the job done, just better keep a battery on the charger at all times or it will leave you high and dry.

Just cutting that 2x4 like it's cheap. That lumber is like GOLD now! Great video. I was in home Depot deciding on the brushless or the regular 6-1/2" Ryobi circular saw. Decided to go brushless and pay double the price. Glad I did because it's a beast

The little brushed ryobi saws are light and easy to handle but not good for cutting 2x or long rips much over 1/2" thick.

Thanks. I don't have that particular circular saw but I have the Ryobi 18.0v which came in a starter set along with a drill, reciprocating saw and circular. Back then it was a steal from the Home Depot as a Christmas gift for my son and the house. The Circular has never been used and I was watching your vid on how too because I want to learn how to use my circular to build Dragon Fruit Top Trellis for this spring when they start to fruit. I believe I got this now, by watching your tutorial. Thanks again.

Great review and that you recognize that it is a good DIY grade saw and not a poor Pro grade. I am currently looking to get a new saw and having Ryobi kit have been waiting for their next offering as my last battery saw (7 years old) may have gone up in smoke doing several sleeper cuts with a brand new 9ah battery. I note some of the comment on different blades, however you review what you get out of the box.

@@ToolReviewZone I bought into Ryobi 18v One stuff a long time ago I am just the average homeowner, etc. I own 20 plus tools and am replacing some with brush-less and taking the old ones to the summer place. I did invest in 9ah batteries when they went on sale 2 for $179 and have a bunch of 4s as well. I am really impressed with the P325 Airstrike I bought myself for Christmas. So I will get to the point I bought the P262 based on yours and one other review. I bought it specifically for swapping my summer 20" mags to the 18" winter wheels and tires on my RT. I have a compressor and all the right tools for doing it but I thought wouldn't it be nice if this would work. Being in the middle of another snow storm. I wont be doing that anytime soon but again your review gives me confidence that it will do the job. Build quality is average, weight is expected, like the lights and the 4 settings. Thanks Again

I’m always curious with a tool like this - how does it go against the budget models by the pro brands (dewalt dcs391, the brushed makita etc). In Australia both those saws will be cheaper than this one - but they have the “big brand” on them.

I’ve put one through some building. Zero degrees is zero degrees. Even with no stops lining up 45 degrees with the angle gauge is very accurate and repeatable. I like it and grab it to make accurate cuts that shouldn’t be done with a circular saw vs my old forged Milwaukee. Mainly cause it’s lighter and no cord makes a difference. That being said, I miss the stops. I miss the angle tick marks. I miss the cast deck, and I miss the easy to read depth marks. And frankly, if I had this sales season to do over I’d have switched over to rigid. Ryobi is no longer the low price leader. They got expensive with real hit or miss power. And a rigid brushless kit with drill, driver, sawzall, circular saw, grinder and multitool for $399 shows that rigid is looking for converts and working hard to get them. Wish their saw was a bit better too.
@Hundert1
@Hundert1 2 года назад
The Craftsman version cuts about half an inch deeper, has a better quality metal platform and has the pre notched scales for easy setting. The light is very nice feature. I also heard that at 0° setting for the normal no angle cuts, the blade isn't accurate 90° to the metal platform.

@@AK-oz4ew 👍 yep! Only reason I got the 7 1/4" brushless Ryobi was because I've already got some Ryobi stuff, so I don't need to spend money on more batteries. Hey dude, I've used the most budget non brushless small circular saw from Ryobi One+ range to cut through sheets of okoume ply 9mm thick and while it is pretty much useless for cutting through normal timber such as even just 4x2 pine, it doesn't struggle at all cutting through 9mm ply sheets. And that's the crappiest battery skilly they sell. So I would say without a shadow of a doubt that this thing would be well capable of cutting any mdf or plywood, no matter how thick. Hope that helps, and I just realized your post is 7mnths old 😅 ahhwell I'll leave this comment anyway for anyone to see. 🤙 Also I'm a builder so I have a fair idea 😉.

Isn't that battery going to hit every single jig or track placed on the wide side of the saw unless you are cutting at a minimal depth? For me use with a jig or track, quality of cut and dust collection ability for indoor use are the biggest thing for a saw like this, who cares about ripping thick treated wood and eye-balling the line, i don't understand the tests in this video or how you can do a saw video and not show how any of your cuts came out .... Also it would be nice to see a critique of the front of the saw and how well it indicates where your line is and the material being removed.
@maximusmagni1
@maximusmagni1 2 года назад
If you look at the saw, the battery isn't any lower than the motor itself. Just put your jig on the right side. Your jig should probably be on the right side anyway to get better visibility of the cut line.

Only good for 2x lumber. Same as version1. Really bad cutting ply; even with a red blade. Veeeery slow compared to other saws in same class. THE 2 WORST TOOL in Ryobi line (IMO). The only upgrade I see is the slot in the shoe for it to run on a guide rail. Choose a different flavor for a 7-1/4" circsaw. I got my Ver1 because only it was the first BL out and team YELLOW didn't have one as yet. Plus, it was on the deal with the hammer drill kit.
