Firstly Thomas I do hope you enjoyed my home country. Secondly, you are the Scientific Standard of Car reviews. I have watched three very good reviews but yours has been the only one that even bothered to show the lower grades and what they offer. One could buy a car with confidence from just your review. As for the Amarok, I think this time it's worth considering a buy. The previous version was just not practical on the rear space.
You should start your reviews by identifying the location....looks amazing there ! "Reporting from XYZ, this is 6'2"(sometimes 6'1") Thomas-Blue reviewing the new XYZ" 🙂
Wait what THOMAS, you in my country, I know the Rock and Ranger are made in South Africa, oh.... bummer man I didn't pay attention I missed it... could have toured the Car world of the Ghetto's and all.... Damn... But hey how do you like our nice summer weather here? Welcome to our our world!!! hope to see you soon
Nice review and a shame on VW to giving to Ford a insignia product as the Amarok really is. At least VW should be pudding the their engines not a Ford engines there is no point what so ever to buy this "new Amarok" than the Ranger. I'm quite disappointed. I have been a Amarok owner since 2011 I will be looking to other options.
The reason why the new Amarok is built on a,ford ranger is the vw Amarok was going out of business would of been no more Amaroks anymore at least ford saved the current Amarok

Hey Thomas, it was funny seeing you drive earlier on the “wrong” side as Jeremy Clarkson would say 😂🤣🤣, have fun in South Africa and nice review as always.
I always love your reviews and your honesty 😄❤ Oh and when I saw the license plate registration I was like "wait...he's in the country" definitely enjoyed, thank you Thomas
Amazing the size of the screens even in the base model. Most manufacturers now have no excuse for having no colour touch screen at all or tiny little ones. Crazy where things have gone that even a commercial vehicle like the single cab one has such a large touch screen. Also just on a friendly point, roads don't usually become dirt roads in South Africa. I think they chose that specifically to demonstrate the cars' gravel road ability.
Amarok a car that rocks. 👍 PS I know it has Ford tech inside but this is not the point here. Let's enjoy this review now and the Ranger/Ranger Raptor the next time.
I understand that most auto companies are apprehensive to give up animal skin leather seating surfaces. Especially on their upper trims. What I don't understand is why these companies don't at least give the consumer a choice. Why not? A person who wants animal free shouldn't have to buy only the lower trims. Animal free should be an option on all upper trims as well.
@@autogefuehl Giving a choice now is better than giving no choice and just putting animal skin in the upper trims. It's better to phase it out rather than just end it. Many consumers are not ready in my opinion. A choice is a stepping stone for the manufactures to move to non-leather seating surfaces. It's a stepping stone for the consumer to experience the different choices. Many will realize that synthetic seating surfaces are just as good or even superior to leather. The more people that choose synthetic then animal skin will be eventually phased out completely. Manufactures will not want to have multiple manufacturing processes. Right now there is too much consumer pressure on auto companies to produce leather seating surfaces. Not all countries are as forward thinking as Germany is on this issue. At this time many consumers simply think leather is superior. The "choice" is a getaway for the end of leather. K R check out the process of making leather seats. It's better and more humane to phase them out.
Cool design - both the outfit of Thomas and the VW 👍😃 I like the operation in the Ranger much better than in the VW - rotary switch for intuitive operation, but no matter, I do not need a PickUp 😁
It looks nice but I think it’s just another piece of junk like the Ford ranger was and still is. It’s too small it will not be able to keep it self from falling apart. What’s with the joint venture ranger and Volkswagen it’s the whole Ford and Mazda thing all over again. They looked really sharp. They fell apart within three years just another piece of garbage on the market. I will see it does look nice though but time and time again those waggon and Ford rangers keep falling apart. I will stick with my Toyota, thank you very much and keep my money in my pocket where is belongs not in the garage getting repaired all the time.😂
I like amarok Indeed :) We also need Atlas in EU, PHEV one ! For my needs I wait for Tourneo Custom PHEV / Transporter PHEV - based on Ford as well. Caddy PHEV / Tourneo Connect could be also nice options - family of 5 and work use together.
If the statement that "Any used car is better than a brand new Ford", then you know this could be the end of Amarok. The demise of the X-class (Stupidity test gone horribly wrong) comes to mind. Hilux has no need to worry, and Isuzu will get position two for sales on a sliver plate-Its a given, at least in the South African bakkie world. What a demise
You didn't say much about the quality of the materials in the interior. I could detect some stitching on the dashboard so I assume it is soft touch ? How about the upper part of the doors, hard pack or soft touch ? Thx
Dash can be bought in leatherette then it is soft, like shown in high trim. Leather seat have bad quality. Get the fabric seats or microfibre in style trim
