You could double trains to fasten passengers and steel. Production seem to allow it. Steel deffinitely had to be set up earlier to meet the goal in time.

It is possible to deliver 100 carloads of steel in 40 years. I’ve done it between 1930 and 1970, but you have to start in Trenton, you have to build or buy the steel mill ASAP, and what I did was the train taking to steel from New York doesn’t take any cars back to save on loading times and so it goes faster on its journey back so it can get more steel loaded sooner.

A faster way to transport the steel from New York is to connect to the nearest city and build an automobile factory. Then have 1 train only transporting the steel and not automobiles on the return run. Then connect the city with the automobile factory to a third city that demands cars. That might work before 1880. The NY- Washington passenger line should not have passenger cars in the return run, making the turn around at washington faster, as well as the return run with full speed. That would have made it. Anyhow, fun to se you playing a game a loved for 20 yers, and recently rediscovered. Keep up the good work!
