Hold my beer, what about the swedish dubber of genie. He was awesome! Some few impersonations in this movie he did even better than Robin Williams cuse wider range of deep voice.
@@theclassicalmonkey8017 Wrong! Robin Williams himself voiced Genie in this movie. The person you are talking about is Dan Castellaneta who is Homer Simpson's voice actor and voiced Genie in the animated series replacing Williams.
There's a trope named after this franchise "The Genie Knows Jack Nicholson". The movies are set in the past well before any of these people were born, the genie knows who they are (he's magic and can see the future) but noone else in the movie will. It could also be explained the genie is so powerful he's aware he's in a movie so does references for the people watching.
@@Rebecca-bk9bd the movie was alright, could've add a bit more logic to it since it's a remake but it wasn't quite that bad for a cgi film.. but lion king.. that was terrible I felt like I was watching a documentary film on wildlife
Well all of Genie's scenes was Robin Williams going off the rails. The actual movie was about Aladdin finding his long-lost father... Genie had a lot of screentime but it was pretty much ALL Robin Williams being wacky and had no bearing on the plot at all. You could have removed him entirely from the movie and it wouldn't have changed the story at all... you'd miss out on some catchy songs and some funny scenes, but the plot would be the exact same.
@Mr.Lyrics He has some kind of lisp, so it sounds like 'i'm sore'. If you've ever been sore, from going to the gym for example, you know being sore hurth(s)
I love the fact that this shows the extremes of Disney. One second you have Steamboat Willie and then the next you have Aliens. Two sides of the same coin. Both are Disney, albeit one is a far newer addition than the other. Don’t worry Aliens, you will fit in nicely next to Starship Troopers!
2:10 I like that in Mrs. Doubtfire’s impersonation you can even here a little of the music cue from the movie’s OST, or at least a clear inspiration of it
That scene where Genie tries to cheer Jasmine up by impersonating Mrs Doubtfire, the Marx brothers, Elvis, Bing Crosby and Bob Hope - I wonder if Robin Williams and Linda Larkin recorded it together in the studio. If so, Linda probably had the time of her life trying not to laugh.
(2:10) You know, it's been years I've even seen The King of Thieves, but basically that scene was him in literal Mrs. Doubtfire mode. He didn't need to make it sound like her since he IS her.
Well once he transformed into Bruce Lee he'd be obliged to kick every ass until they're all down, which would take away from Aladdin and Jasmine solving their own problems.
Like, when he turned into all those Sai-wielding ninjas, it successfully scared the bad guys off, he can just cancel all his duplicates instead of actually impaling any bad guys.
GOD, I miss Robin's comedic genius. Feels so long ago I was crying so hard when I found out he killed himself. Even played Genie in a local summer theater production. Had such a blast doing that.
Every time he says “Ozzie Nelson“, I always burst into laughter because every time I used to visit my grandma that’s what we would watch, the Ozzie and Harriet show lol. Thanks for uploading my childhood. This was great going down memory lane
Shame those good funny impressions by Robin Williams are underrated by cheap animations. If those scenes were drawn just like first movie, it would have been more wonderful and memorable.
Well I find this movie's Genie moments memorable. :-) It is still fine drawn, though from the Disney Cartoon studio department. They knew the caracters for a long time thanks to the tv series before doing this epic ending adventure movie.
The “Thor” one does not apply, they where portraying the mythical character, the drawings, the books etc... Also the avengers Thor came like a decade after Robin William’s genie
As as kid when Robin did his Mrs Doubtfire impersonation, I didn’t know what it was from at the time because I haven’t seen Mrs. Doubtfire yet. Now I saw it and it’s one of my favorite movies with him in it. Robin Williams is a genius who’ll always be missed. ❤
I feel like your wording was off, he already was a little unnecessary. He's always going to be Miss no matter what, there's no other comedian that had such eccentric energy as he did
A pretty nice touch that the "Steamboat Genie" was whistling a different tune than in the original scene, a part of the famous folk song "Turkey in the Straw" specifically. And this song was also used in a later part of Steamboat Willie as its own separate music number.
He just wanted others to stop fighting and start loving each other to fix the limited mistakes when theres more to life than a simple smile its Magic is and magic does-.. spread inspiration to ones heart....
