NASCAR did not really use this specifically as the main reason for the playoff implementation, but this definitely, among criticisms from other people as well, is what accelerated the implementation.
@@Gretri17 its not a theory, its actuality. NASCAR changed their championship format as a direct result of kenseth winning 1 race in the 2003 year. Not his fault, he was just the most consistent driver that year.
