I used to work for an auctioneer. When we did live auctions and there were tractors etc selling some people would purposely turn on the ignition and leave it like that. When we'd go to sell it it would be dead and then it would be harder to sell. Lots of people won't bid on what they can't see running. It was done to keep the price down due to less competition. I would bet that some dealer wants all of those Toyota's and doesn't want competition for them.

Greetings from South Africa. That warning on the Infiniti, it's called the Master Warning Light. Shows for anything... You had your door open, that's why it was lit up. Got a Q60S 3.7 Coupe and I was rather concerned the first time I hopped in my car and saw that 😊

About the Kona.....just a personal preference, but I absolutely HATE this trend of some auto makers putting the rear turn signals down in the bumper.

Randy: the 2023 Kona base model you drove is the 2.0L/147hp with a CVT. The uplevel models have a 1.6L/195hp Turbo with a 7 speed DCT. A friend traded his RAM on a Kona Turbo, and it is pretty quick. They also offer a Kona N with a 2.0L/276hp Turbo with an 8 speed DCT that is very quick. Nice cars.
@hellrecon1980
@hellrecon1980 10 месяцев назад
In Europe , we don't have the 2.0L, but we have the 1.0L turbo with 120hp with 6 speed manual. Automatic is not an option with this powertrain.We have the 1.0 L mild hybrid with the same horsepower for more fuel efficiency, no automatic transmission. The 1.6 L has also a 6 speed as standard and the 7 speed as an expensive (+3000 euros) option.The 1,6L also come with 4 wheel drive, combined with the 7 speed DCT. The 1,6L also comes as a full hybrid; 141 HP with 6 speed DCT. The old one had a 1,6L turbo diesel engine with 136HP. It was the best seller with 50 mpg.. Diesel is much cheaper than gas in most European countries.. The Kona N is will be available in my country (Greece) in the near future..

Most rental companies held cars until 60k during the pandemic and even in normal times they didn’t send them to auction with less than about 35k miles. So a rental going on the block with only 23k would make me suspicious. Also, the best used rentals are sold to dealers first, next from their own used car lots direct to the public and the least desirable go to the wholesale auction.

Many rental car companies keep their 'best' ones and sell them at their own direct sales lots. The are likely to sell to auction those that have been significantly damaged by vandalism, in the body, are mechanical/tech dogs.

I would be into that Avalon. 83K miles on a Toyota is nothing assuming it's at least had it's oil changes...guarantee you'll love that Infiniti less when the turbo blows and it starts burning oil...it is a Nissan after all (at least it doesn't have a CVT). But I get it, if you're only keeping it for a short period you could have fun with that car

Out of all the stuff you looked at Randy I think I would take either the Avalon or the Q50. Love both and they both have there pros. I would say though I really do like the Avalon cause you get some great space and they can be pretty comfy plus the mpg is pretty good. The Infiniti does have some great screens in it as well. You should try and bid on the Q50 with the price and the turbo V6 it would be pretty sweet! Overall all the cars you looked at are pretty great value though. Appreciate another great video!👍👍

Synthetic leather, "Softex" or vinyl really in the Camrys. Toyota has been doing that for some reason and I don't like it. My Highlander has perforated leather on the four captain's chairs on the seating surfaces only and then the backs/headrests and sides of the seat are softex or vinyl.. the third row bench seat is softex too. I believe the Avalon is real leather on the seating surfaces only. I would stick with the Camry's or the Avalon. My preference is for the Avalon, it should have a volume adjustment for the backup sensor beep in the settings menu. And the Solara was the two door of the Camry or it also came in a convertible. They quit making those in 2007/08 I believe, I like those too. Cars I buy now are longterm and Toyota is the best bet imo.

Toyota and Lexus is what I am partial towards and will only drive these days. The Camry SE has the sport tuned suspension and they handle really nice, like they are on rails. I had a 2012 and living in an area with lots and hills and curves I could do 60-70 mph without breaking a sweat. It would eat up a set of nice Michelins before 30k miles though. Anything Hyundai, Kia or Infiniti I personally avoid.👎🏼 My mom has some sort of Infiniti wagon looking thing, I forget the letter and numbers. It's a 2016 or '17 that I know and the engine sounds like a rattle trap to me, it is really unimpressive but I didn't pay for it.
