i hope this doesn't sound like i want a fight but, war isn't hell. One is where guilty men go when they are dead. Another is where they go and die. innocent and guilty. All the same. But our ppl where blinded and started the worst wars that ever happened cause ppl like my grandparents who had to pay the price got blinded by political leaders that convinced us that the reason for the war is that we want to share or „superiority“ with the world. I wish ppl wouldn’t need political leaders and all the your soldiers would have seen last all these lies. So it never would have started. And no English, German or French young men would need to die. And of course no Americans or Russians or whatever too.

My great grandfather Wicht killed at La Fontenelle, Vosges July 8th 1915 My great grandfather Seelmann wounded in the left shin/gang green infection August 31st 1916 at Longueval. Survived the war. My 2 great grand uncles the Kohler brothers were killed.

Dieser Film ließ mich den Albtraum des Ersten Weltkriegs verstehen. Ich könnte es in einem Buch lesen, aber es sehen? brachte mich zum Weinen für all die verlorenen Leben. Dieser Krieg war schlimmer als die Hölle, denn zumindest in der Hölle kann man sich mit seiner Hoffnungslosigkeit trösten.

France, germany, England, USA, Russia and more. All these young men died for honor, and their country. Germans, don't be ashamed about your history. You are a great country, a pillar of Europe's history, be strong and proud.
Quentin, you truly misunderstand the message behind this film. These men did no die for honor and were not honored. There lifes were thrown away by supperiors who showed no regard for their life. The war was not honorable but pointless. And anyone who died, died a pointless death.
