Hurricane Helene: Highway Patrol advises WNC residents to stay off roads.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is advising people in Western North Carolina to stay off the roads as Hurricane Helene makes its way through the Carolinas.

@@jenny2108 yeah the roads are a mess , I 40 east and west Asheville are impassable then I 26 to the south is flooded , not sure if the north section is open. Just trying to check on folks tonight, still no service.

My son and his buddies were also going to try to get to Johnson City, which I know was closed due to flooding. Not sure they knew that at the time, but it’s possible they are in the same area as your in laws. Prayers they are all safe.
