This makes so much more sense than going straight to 120. You get more frequest updates for many different skills. Plus it makes levels 100-110 actually relevent.
@@brandondimopoulos9534 They obviously been cooking in the background. They could have just rushed a medicore roadmap like another Fort Fornithry like update year. It was ok to me but could have been way better. Hate boner for Jagex???
In 5/6 years you’ll be bored and already at 120s in the first year or two …. Completely pointless as you’ll have the lvl to do all the content. You’re not going to go mine the newest rock when you’re already capped in that level are you …
@@zeldapro18 you as one person saying because you got 1, 120 in 16 years doesn’t mean everyone else hasn’t got one. 16 years to get 1, 120 is ridiculous if you’re an active player. Loads of people have alts, there’s barely any “new players”, the player base is at its all time lowest. I guarantee more people have 120s than people that don’t
@@Fro609 Maxed players will still be maxed? They're not taking away players xp/levels/virtual levels. You clearly aren't maxed by the sounds of it. Also if you've read the post, you haven't, they stated that there are less maxed players than there is non-maxed.
One reason i like this is because it makes sense canonically. *spoiler warning!!* in the storyline of the game, the PC has done things like interact with the stone of jas multiple times, been gifted powers by literal gods, has helped defeat gods, demigods, dragonkin, etc. Based on the universe's own logic, it makes perfect sense that the PC should be able to achieve a skill level beyond what is achievable for a regular human. The PC is basically a demigod at this point and I like that the skills will reflect that.
that and you look at characters like the old man (with his blue party hat) which off memory when you're controlling them during quests, have lvl 150 in magic.. (whatever quest was up in picatoris fishing village)
I wish I could share the same sentiment. Feels like it's almost a yearly thing where Jagex flip flops between being beyond shy and sharing what they're working on. All while always saying how they're going to be more transparent and learn how to communicate better. Just... How many times do we need to have this happen? You know what I mean?
Would love to see more skills go to level 110. I have all 99s, but not many above 110, so it would give me something to shoot for, especially if the rewards are engaging.
If they add 110 div, they can simply add another level of energy/location and add a unique use for it that's unlike other energies that directly interact with another 110 skill update. For example, the new energy is bait for new fish that are apart of the 110 fishing progression. Those fish are then a part of 110 cooking, etc.
They can make new healing portents too, hell they could even do something unique with invention for the energies. Bigger charges, special augmentors that increase item xp gain or some such, there's a lot of ideas that can be thrown out there.
As long as they release more afk leveling, I'm fine. There's too many adults who play rs now and grinding is not ideal. Slaving away shouldn't be the end game. That's not working smarter.
Aha. I got some 120s but taking all my skills to this level will take a while... Fortunately I already got boring ones line fishing to 120, but still need other annoying ones like smithing, agility and woodcutting to reach this level.
@@thaedleinad farming croesus is great strat. You are hitting multiple birds with one stone ( especially for construction ) and can make decent money too during that
I'm in the same boat 200m all so this isn't too bad for me. I haven't played a ton lately, but it will be fun to come back and make some new stuff lol. I like I make things over buying them when I can
as someone who just got into rs3 and was excited to get some 99s, this sucks. I get that its good for the overall game but damn now I have to grind alot more
It hurt, but I quit RS3 for OSRS today. Liquidated the RS3 account. Too much dead content let alone dead content linked to comp cape, EOC sucks, questing in RS3 is trash compared to OSRS thanks to runelite, and quantity/quality of updates in RS3 compared to OSRS is non comparable. OSRS is the favored game now and the marketing with player base size even WITHOUT the bots just proves it. RS3 is a mobile game milking the cows at this point with a skeleton crew running the show. Sucks cause I've been playing since like 2006.
nice, more barren 99-110/120/200M grinds, I quit in 2019 @3.8B xp so my idea of how it was back then might not be how it is today, but 120 slayer was atrocious in how empty the skill was post 99, let's hope they don't make that mistake on release again and have fully fleshed out training methods this time.
I have absolutely no interest in paying 100m for bonds every 2 weeks whilst trying to pay for 8x99 in every skill at the same time. This games economy is already destroyed for everyone besides endgame pvmers rwters and merchers, this just makes literally everything more expensive.
All I want from smithing is that they rework the overall UI, so that I can for e.g. right click on any of the items in the window, like a plate body or whatever, and be able to select an option to make 1, 5, 10 or X. All of this having to right click open interface, select what I want, make it, then right click again, open and select, then again and again.... especially when making stuff like armour spikes, having to KEEP opening the damn thing until I have 20 unmade items.... actually ridiculous and not sure how they didn't see that being a severe issue before they released the overhaul.
As massive of a critic as i was earlier this year, the Jagex devs have renewed my faith in this game. going 110 first to keep from 120 just immediately overshadowing it is a great idea! The game as old as this has progressed passed the 99 skill cap long ago, and this should be a better way than 120 farming and herb just getting dumped all at once. I'm loving the amount of engagement we are finally receiving with Jagex. Idk if it's because Mod Keeper is gone or what but it looks like the dark ages are over for RS3!Future is very bright
I'm not sure I like the daemonheim ore and armour being brought to the surface. This is something I liked about dungeoneering; the idea that whatever stays daemonheim cannot be transported to outside world. It just feels un-original and kind of bland to use those ores and armour instead of coming up with a completely new type of ore and armour design
So many people seem happy about this. Claiming they were uncertain about the game state, only to now be hyped. It's the opposite for me. I didn't enjoy half the skills... Now I gotta go back and lvl those skills more? Eh... I hope I'm just confused.
Pog. Wake up in year 2030, all 30 skills at 120 with a total level of 3600, living the runescape dream. :p 30 if there is another new skill by then, at least.
The game is grindy enough already. I see these changes as even more grinding... Same sh*t, nothing really new. Of course, people who love grinding will love this, but I think the XP needed to max out is already beyond normal human beings.
ive been grinding for months just to get 99 everything and i almost have my max cape, just need 4 more skills until max. Then this crap comes out right as im almost finished. no way im doing a full ass grind for all this
Fuck me. What a pain in the arse. And everyone just eats it up because they're afraid of being done with a game until there's new, meaningful, content.
so eventually my measly 2 skillcapes i grinded for years ago will be gone. :( Oh well, better to make content for active players than nostalgic players
If the goal was to get all skills to 120, it absolutely makes sense to do it in chunks and get every skill to 110 first. The XP gap between 99-110 is much more reasonable than 99-120 for most casual players.
I think there’s an idea that 99 has maintained a nostalgia number. Albeit if you’re playing rs for nostalgia, you’re playing osrs. But still such an important number associated to levels in rs. Beyond that, I wonder what they’ll do to the high end tools. Like I have my augmented pickaxe of earth and song to lvl20… I really don’t want to get rid of it for a mediocre base metal pick
"Albeit if you’re playing rs for nostalgia, you’re playing osrs." What literally the majority of Runescape's entire playerbase does these days. Can't blame 'em though, RS3 isn't even Runescape anymore.
I am not necessarily sold on this idea. This update don't affect me, but I have one friend I play with who plays two accounts, 1 ironman, one normal. She is a lot more behind than me. I told her this update and her only reaction was "-.-" X D
Great vids as always. Thankyou for all great content. Here is my bit... :) When they released 120 Herby / Farming at Runefest 2019, they announced at the fest that they would be gradually introducing 120's into the game for all skills, I would much prefer they did half the skills to 120 if it takes the same time to do all the skills to 110, and released in a controlled manner. My opinion too on the smithing / mining rework they missed the boat there on just spreading out the 1-99 over 1-120, this could still be done by changing the skill levels required, then add in maybe a few new items. All up for CB being 110 then 120 then maybe 126 eventually (Just below 200m) for the future, after all we want to be stronger and would allow for making even harder future bosses (ooo'errr). However, Lvl 110 may be a really good stop gap for all of the players who are not so hardcore, and look at 120 all as being too far a reach, so caters for % of more casual players who want to push beyond 99 all etc. Cheers from Scotland :)
Ever since Dungeoneering I've never really been a fan of 120 skills. I understand that I am probably in the minority on this. Even more so I don't like leveling a skills to 120 when I am not unlocking any content by doing so. Another aspect of this is seeing every skill at 99/99 was very satisfying to me and having a random 120 kind of ruined that. So I suppose that having all skills eventually all saying 120/120 would be nice. As well as having stuff to unlock, that will hopefully increase xp per hour, is a good way to approach it. I just hope they keep with this plan and we don't end up with all these max level caps that are all over the place. What would make this even better is if they added new areas for this content to exist, like menephos. As well as optional low level content training spots within these new areas.
To clarify, not all skills will be extended to 110. Only nonskilling will become 110 and then 120. But combat skills would stay at 99 due to combat issues.
a lot of people are on copium. 99-110 is barely content, its just a continuation of what’s already there. It will be a copy paste of previous content. I don’t understand why people love the idea of having to click a rock even longer now.
i was skeptical at first, but honestly im totally convinced. its exactly like they said: 110 would introduce one full new tier, which would then stay relevant for several years. if they can do that alongside other updates, it will be a lot more fun than waiting 8 months for one 120 update or whatever.
plus in all honesty.. the thought of rushing 99-120 wc or rc doesnt sound that great. spreading it out in two updates brings more hype and makes better gameplay
Just another tier for the extreme sweats pushing new players farther away from the game. This will just drain players for more keys and more people will stop the grind because we are all in our 20-40s most of us do not have years to play a game anymore….
I love this, can't wait for it to come. I allready have 200m in mining and smithing, but still i will give it a big try. Makes me wonder if i should continue my grind with wc for now?
This makes me wonder; what would solo Croesus be like with lvl 110 in Mining, Hunter, Fishing and Woodcutting? I know some can do this boss solo, but it' challenging and takes too much time. Better skill tools as well as higher levels could make it doable for casuals, I assume
Learn to arch my friend, without dxp/bonus exp/lamps/cores I kept my arch skill pure to see how long my playstyle (casual mixed with some more hardcore) would take to reach 120. No guides either initially a lot of it I had to figure as I went along though calculators helped immensely in 101-120 grind spot. Took me exactly 1 year from release, I got 120 arch on the first anniversary of the skill’s release. It’s a very well designed skill with a very good curve it just comes down to knowing how to do it.
havent played in a while but I can see myself picking RS back up a bit after this. 110 is a great stop point for this because 120 is such a grind for what is typically little to zero benefits other than status
This is where I'm at on the 99 max skills. This would give me something new to do... outside of combat I really don't train maxed skills other than dailies or needing to make something.
This is absolutely the correct thing for them to do as skilling is the #1 love for most of the player base. As much as I believe this is good and correct from them to do I admittedly can't shake the thought in the back of my mind that the big real reason they want to do this is that most people have hit 99's easily and have no more use or need for MTX xp. If skills go higher then people have that need again. Doing the right thing.... but likely for the wrong reasons.
@@InTheMindOfficial If they put the physical levels up, then 99 wouldnt be max. Are you slow lol? Did you upvote yourself by accident during your angry rage?
@@OneTwoMark riiiiiight oh silly me! I forgot! You have to have 120 in all the skills that actually go to 120 in order to get the max cape! Oh... wait.
It may feel weird. But having a goal for old finished content or enjoyment on existing favorite skills, would be great. Hope we dont loose the perks for "maxing". Like max guild and such.
As of May 25, 2024 I have gotten to virtual level 120 in all skills near the end of the last DXP event. This means if the level 99 raises to 110, I can find some new ways to go for 200M all skills (5.8 billion total exp end goal)
As long as "Max" doesn't mean all skills to 110 and it stays at the traditional 99 that's fine with me. I think it would be good for the game to have more variety when actually training to 120, I stopped at 113 woodcutting because chopping golden bamboo all day is boring and tiresome. Maybe it'll breathe new life into skilling if they get it right.
sounds good on paper but especially for the 110-120 bracket i think they need to add alot more content than just one tier of logs/bars/fish whatever, as each level takes much longer to grind out. some skills like agility & thieving for example serve no real in-game purpose as run energy is never really an issue and thieving just not being lucrative. interested to see what they'll come up with for those skills specifically. Hunter could also become very interesting if they take what they've learned from croesus, bgh and future skilling bosses and come up with something completely new. i also do hope for a complete construction overhaul somewhere inbetween the skill cap increases so player owned housing can finally see a use other than a one stop gear repair and a glorified fish tank
a goal of 200m all once took 5 years of dedication, now takes under 100 days. higher the xp rates go, the faster were done with the game. so jagex is essentially willing to shorten the skilling world in hopes they get addicted to pvming/clues/pking but in reality those players dabble in some pvm for logs, get bored and quit due to their whole purpose to logging in was the skilling world. ADD PRESTIGE so we can keep getting 200m all on a singular account @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
I really really love this, im going for the 120 cape at the moment and even the slightest xp boost with artisan new content will help so much. I hope with combat it will mean we can get gear that will extend past t97 and even t99. It is really great that the game is able to progress content and level wise now, the game is so old and it is long overdue. I love the transparency RS are giving us as of late. Thank you jagex!
WE should get a beta where you are 110 in all skills to test out what combat would be like if we had t110 weapons right now. Lets see if current t95s scaled up to t110 breaks the game ect, what can be tuned up/down
I love the idea that the level caps go up... but they're talking like most people don't already have 110 or close to it. 30k people have 120 mining (around 60k have 110), and 24k have 120 smithing (around 40k have 110). ultimately they just add a new slightly faster training method, especially if they aren't meant to compete with current boss drops. so while i'm all for it, it's just taken them a bit too long. i'd also like to see them uncap xp (past 200m xp) and have the highscores actually be a thing again, rather than just a race every new skill.
as a 5.8b player this seems pointless as a quit rser this seems pointless as a coming back grind to unlock this seems pointless 5 or 6 years for 120s all......
This update already has me being disappointed except for the 2h sword but imagine you needing higher smithing level to make suboptimal armor when there is already masterwork armor which is the better version of t90 tank armor and only need 99 smithing for this lol. So help me if they change reqs for masterwork armor now thats some BS. Not only that please give us another reason not to do mazcab raids other than for codex. DID THEY FORGET T90 TANK ALREADY EXIST LIKE WTF. #rip MAZCAB ARMOR
Since Necromancy was the second physical 120 (technically first IMO) cuz Dungeoneering is like a mini game with a skill level attached with the obvious reward shop, content expansion. Whatever. Necromancy + the latest skill dmg and items patch regarding dmg, and an actual crit rate crit dmg system without the questionable side of critical and max hits(pre-patch) finally opens up the door to not feel limited and frozen at 90's tier weaponry or armour. I talked to the world 2 users one day about 120's for all skills before the actual necro skill dropped. They did a 120 with combat. That means once players do get to 99 a bolg, seren, fsoa+upcoming T90's Dual Magic item is gunna allow lots of players to PvM more. To be honest. Pvm & Rng is just 10x more enjoyable when you can get it done in a timely, efficient manner versus struggling. On top of that, these new player getting to the point we are at, fits in alongside us being at a physical 120 state making Normal, Hard- Bossing instances capable of giving both a Lower lvl'd individual and higher lvl'd individual's that much more satisfaction. Whose to say once all physical 120's arrive that they wont make an elite mode to really Spice things up for higher lvl'd players. I mean, sure, others here say, their opinion. But I however think physical 120's will have content that isnt gunna be a rinse repeat and can somehow hopefully all be incorporated together even more from lvls 100-120. Guess will see how they work with 100-110... lol If you are not excited about this for RuneScape 3's next greatest adventure, then take a break & go touch grass.
This crap should have been done years ago. When they first introduced dung, the first 120 skill, they should have aimed to increase every single skill towards 120. If i'm not mistaking, i only have 4 skills under 110, melee skills (including def since i share xp drops with all 3 skills) and necromancy, i got close to 110 i believe but then i decided to quit. Everything else is over 110 and mostly close to 120. Which means, this update is arriving far too late for me since i already put it lots of grind since i returned for the GPH event from a 5 year break after maxing the first time. Additionally, they should restructure the leveling tables to function like invention and push towards 150. From lvl 120 to 200m xp, it's an empty void literally, they need to fill in that gap with something, it would make the most sense to restructure the xp tables and readjust everyones levels based on the invention xp structure, which would go all the way to lvl 150. Then they should focus on introducing updates for all skills towards 110. And then 120, and so on, it would take roughly 5-6 years to reach 150. This is about as long as this game might survive. These news, despite being good, are not good enough to win me back, so f*ck jagex, i'm keeping my money and time!
Im fine with 110 skill bump but ONLY IF they rework the skill they are bumping. Fletching, woodcutting, summoning, etc... Dont just bump levels up only to have new content for max players, and nothing for new players / accounts. Summoning needs rework so we can train while using summons, rather than a money sink pouch maker for subpar summons early-midgame.
FUUUCK!!! NOW THAT RUINED SKILLCAPES. They need to release some old content like regular dragon armor for free to play and some very old quests to earn the unlocks for them as well. f2p is dead in rs3 we need a new refeasher.
I knew I was right to focus on real 120s like herblore, slayer, dung, arch etc and not go for virtual 120s. It all paid off :) I’m really excited to see how runecrafting would go up to 110
They keep on making RS3 easier and easier and easier . . . Half the players are BOTTERS anyway and you can just buy your way to level 120 . . . The game was always about being a SLOG!
As someone who just maxed again after Necromancy released this past DXP, i feel personally victimized by this. I only have one skill at over 110 being dungeoneering which took years. Big no thanks.
for 25 years the max has been 99 with a virtual of 120 now in place....Fucking stupid how to fuck over the only thing nostalgic left of RS3 and the people that never wanted to move beyond 99s
It's gonna take 3 years before everything is 110 and another 3 before everything will go to 120, they're only adding minimal stuff, look at the mining and smithing update for example for nearly 40million xp of content, its gonna be a disaster.. Rather have them do it rightly, take their time and actual add content, like how they did with farming and slayer
Yo Mods, you remember when players started playing rs in lumby with cows and there was just so many skills and so much to do? If you released 5 or more skills to 120 content the veteran would be reliving that and be in a candy shop literally unsure of what to do. We'd have things to do on RS besides making GP which there isn't much content for besides phats.
An already hilariously grindy game becomes even grindier for even less rewards. Their attempt to fix the economy (Invention), failed miserably just the same. Have fun with your ore
I feel everything should just go to 120 a lot people already have 120 in all skills including me. The combat team should just accept the fact that high level bosses right now willd derank into mid level bossing and they should just make higher level bosses that drop loot that is a resource to craft them with crafting, smithing, runecrafting, fletching etc.
At this stage of the game, where lots of people are already 200m xp will they have that decrease to the xp of 99 to start a even field race to 110?. If not and people will instantly be new max lvl cap where's the value for those players?. How about they keep the 200m xp but add the cap to it?. So 99 for everyone is whatever XP you're at when the cap is increased?. Just an odd time in the games life to create new lvls that a lot of people are already going to have.
never liked the idea of being level 110 smithing and mining, to make a level 100 weapon/armour. much preferred the old mining and smithing. level 50 smithing and mining, could mine and smith rune, make rune armour and weapons. much easier to understand. the new smithing rework is just annoying to me.
I hate the news because instead of making the skills useful or better with reworks they are just adding new lvls and more grind for no reason, wow you can get 110 mining, there's new ore to mine, in other words it's gonna continue being the same shit but just more lvls, instead of actually making changes to become a more interesting and dynamic/ fun skill or profitable like a gathering skill should be and almost all of them aren't, no encouragement to keep on using them after you max the Stat, for smiting ok, new weapon that's something but still lackluster and a lot of work for what Will eventually be the same old
chipping up is definitely the play. just going 120 and done means the skill is likely perma finished and youd have to come up with a bunch more stuff for that skill, most of which will either be useless and skipped or spread out and might as well be 110 anyway.
be very carefull adding cause youl end up making it easyer and easyer for people to reach lvls and then it becomes stupid and only about money and Runescape will trow out microtransaction to everything and people will stop playing. Dont make it easy 99 is easy so it must be what you need and 110 you should get it for the bonus of what you need in game. So 110 should be a bonus to have but not realy needed to play the content. If RS3 could balance and reach this point its good.
i really wish they would update the tick rate on this game.. 15k hours 3k total 2b total exp and the only thing stopping me from playing it anymore is the tick rate doesnt match with the new combat system IMO.
As a 5.8b player I'm completely fine with this. I'll be able to experience the content immediately anyways, and I completely agree two 110's is far better than one 120.
