All Russian T 90M tanks in Ukraine may have received Telnik shells

Imagine a single tank dominating the battlefield, capable of neutralizing entrenched infantry, eliminating light vehicles, and even engaging aerial threats. This vision, once a futuristic scenario, is inching closer to reality with the introduction of the 3VOF128 Telnik round. This innovative projectile, equipped with programmable detonation, promises to revolutionize the role of tanks and potentially rewrite the nature of combat. Rumors have been swirling about the potential armament of Russia's T-90M Proryv tanks stationed in Ukraine. While Moscow remains tight-lipped on the matter, evidence points towards the use of the Telnik rounds in October 2023.

@@williamzk9083 You are 100% correct. What they are not telling us is that the reason it's different is it's heavily integrated with drones as indirect/direct fire. Outside of setting /loading the round, the crew is literally (laying the gun only) hands off. Sort of how Longbow/Apaches work ..... Russia is working it's way out of the dark ages. No doubt about that. And tanks play a significantly different role than, say, even 3 years ago because they have suddenly become so vulnerable. Arguably it's more about not allowing the opposition the opportunity to built huge defensive lines of trenches, landmines, and towed artillery. Then continue to pointlessly attack those lines, like it's WWI. Despite having satellite intelligence and drone swarms. For example if the Russian Northern Offensive didn't collapse. Then they would have been on the opposite side of the Ukrainian defensive line. Which is how the Maginot Line was defeated. Luckily for Ukraine, Russia had horrible logistics and not enough personal to sustain that front. Which is a surprising blunder in itself.

BUT, Do you think that area is under protection of supporting elements? You put at risk your Jav team, ATGM team, and Drone teams. My answer stands: Stand Off Distance. Is it fragmentation or a submunition? these are not the same thing, saying submunition if this is just some programmable fragmentation shell is just wrong. also this tech is like over 60 years old, especially if like you said, the fragmentation goes forwards in a cone shape, instead of outwards a more sphere-like shape, the performance on this shell is most likely poor and worse than normal HE.

"It can" yes but most of the time a single hit disables the tank. Single engine hit and done. Seen it to many times. Obviously they wont always blow up in a huge fireball but they do pretty often. These Tanks are not protected against top attacks at all. They can survive the hit but these FPV pilots arent retarded and know exactly where to hit. Surviving the hit sure but even if you hit the optics, the tank is done and basically useless.

Proxy fuse ammo is not programable. M830A1 MPAT has a radar fuze in it, but you can't input direct data into it in real time. The AMP round just came into common knowledge in 2020. It is not in circulation due to the absence of a training round and the lack of integration into current US training aids (AGTS, CCTT, and VBS3). While this is a true in a strawman sense, its not correct. The point is this guided direct fire round (Say again last DIRECT FIRE) is supposedly to be first programmable round being fielded in actual combat.
