Boomerangs also have another major flaw: they are able to accomodate just one train, which hurts capacity. By adding multiple launches to the layout, the ride duration will increase, but it will also cause the lines to move slower. I hope that for the future models they find a way to incorporate some sort of switch track or turning station to allow for at least two trains operations, so Shuttle Coasters can become even longer than the Vekoma Super Boomerang, without having hour long queues...
Yes, the capacity is the main issue after they've sorted what I talked about. I think you're right that the switch track or something similar is the way to go, or else it will still just be smaller parks that these rides appeal to, and they won't have the money to make one that's super long and exciting
In general switch tracks aren't practical for a shuttle coaster with the only exception being the two Mr. Freeze coasters but even then that's more of a switch between the load platform and the actual main track.
It is a bit loud I agree, a general guide is music at 20dB under VO. So when editing check the common spikes and aim for VO to be about -10 and music about -30, you cna adjust for taste a bit from that point but this sounds more like a 5dB difference which is hard to hear through. This particular song is minimal enough that I heard the VO fine, but with other songs it would be real bad
Thanks for the feedback, I will in the future. I think the issue was that I used my usual audio settings, forgetting that I recorded the video late at night and was speaking a bit quieter than usual.
I thought the LSMs were mainly about not having trains get stuck halfway through, but yes. Those + a turntable (power splash style) can make shuttle coasters much more appealing. If only I could do turntables in NoLimits 2.

While it's a full circuit layout, I'm hoping the Zamperla Double Heart is successful, too. If the 70m version is reliable and smooth, it'll be a huge game changer for parks that could never dream of a 200+ ft coaster otherwise.
It is definitely a major issue, but easily solvable with a turntable or switch track. I think until now they've mostly appealed to smaller parks because they're cheap and compact, and capacity isn't as much of an issue for them, but we'll have to see if any big parks take one on as a major coaster
I go to get jealous about parks around the world, but then remember I have a Mack Hypercoaster and the worlds only Intamin Hot Racer in Australia.. ooohh and a rare Wooden Wild Mouse that is Heritage Protected. I shouldn't complain. The new Super Boomerangs look viable for the size of our parks though, hopefully with the work our parks have been doing with Vekoma might result in a new thrill coaster by Vekoma here, also somewhat rare around the world. Would make Australia worth more than just DC Rivals. (my opinion is that the Hot Racer is nothing special, could be due to the limited space in Luna Park Sydney. Yeah Australia is a weird one with a couple of great and rare coasters, but not much else to back it up... I feel like it's almost the opposite of the UK where (until this year) I wouldn't have said we had many world class coasters, but have loads of solidly 'good' attractions. Yeah, I could imagine one coming your way. A new Vekoma could be a really good addition to a lot of parks.
what i think shuttle coasters need is a turntable station like on mack power splashes so capacity isnt hurt when a train is traversing the layout, i also think that if this was in place that maybe they could add theming or story elements to the turntable depending on the ride's theme so it feels like you are being transported into a world instead of just turning on a turntable, this woul make new gen boomerangs have a much higher capacity while keeping the thills and basic concept the same, this would also mean they can make longer boomerang layouts and make them more unique as they dont have to worry about the train making it back in a short time to keep capacity at a maximum meaning more intense and thrilling layouts can be created (i waffled again :)) What do you think? (again, this is actually a topic i've had a lot of thought on in the past)
I agree that turntables would definitely help with capacity, and do offer a good excuse for solid theming. Another option would be to have a hybrid shuttle coaster, where it has a switch track so that it doesn't do all of the layout backwards, and that means you can have some block zones and run multiple trains at once. I think we'll just have to wait and see if any bigger parks try this though, as its a bit of an unknown at the minute

Yes, the shuttle loops have pretty awful capacity. I think their saving grace is just that the ride is short - can you imagine how bad it would be if it had more of a layout
I would like to see a swing-launch shuttle coaster. How would that exactly work? IDK, maybe take one extra element on the way out before the switch, but that would solve the same problem as a turntable load does: increasing capacity above one train. I do not want to see a super boomerang at my home park, because it would simply not have the capacity to be a new headliner ride. (Maybe with a turntable it could happen) It is feasible that King's Island could add one though, as a new custom design by the front gate to replace their inverted boomerang.
I can see that working, you could have a small launch to get you to the swing section, and then a second switch track at the end of the backwards bit to return you to the station. I guess the only issue is that by that point it's getting quite complex! That's fair, I don't think it would make a good headline attraction at many decently sized parks, but like you said, it would be good enough to replace something with a similar capacity
Mr Freeze is Peak Six Flags Over Texas! It solves capacity issues with a sliding station but it still has the tendency to valley and it often breaks down (though nowhere near as bad as some other coasters)
Personally by the way to balance out the criticisms (they’re fair - obv everyone has their opinions) - but I actually quite like the balance of the music with the level of the voiceover. I think it feels like “your content”, Coaster Shark vids have a def feel to them I like. Completely different to say, Digital Dan, but similar in the way this content has its certain stamp to it. Keep going you’ll def keep climbing. And if you turn the music down.. it doesn’t have to be by much. Imho 👍
Thanks! I think the mixing on this video might have been a bit off because the voice-over was quieter (I recorded it a bit late at night) but I always thought it would have been a bit dry with no music
looking at this ride, it looks fun; but why in the heck are they putting such a low capacity ride at Great Adventure. I feel this would be more acceptable at Darian Lake, or St. Louis, or some other mid tier six flags park. Great Adventure gets too packed for a major coaster that features one train ops.
It is a weird choice... the only thing I can think of is that it's not replacing a ride, so its just added capacity for the park as a whole, and therefore doesn't need to have an amazing throughput. Or Six Flags were just desperate and this was all they could get their hands on...
The Switchback roller coasters were not shuttle coasters they were dual track, the car rolled down one track forward then was lifted to the top of the other track and would run down it forward

The longer these boomerangs get, the worst their REAL inherent flaw actually becomes: capacity. These are absolutely terrible rides for that reason. The larger they get, the more out of the price range of smaller parks they become, parks where lower capacity isn’t much of an issue.
Capacity is a big issue as well, but I think that its easily fixable with turntables and switch tracks enabling multiple train operation. These would also only be needed at the big parks, and they have the money for it and for a longer ride, so it might be OK. We won't know for sure until someone builds one though...

I know looks incredible. I actually love insane positives over airtime, would have loved the chance to go on moonsault. One day if I ever have crazy amounts of money to fritter away, I’d love to try a fighter pilot centrifuge wheel. Sign a waiver and then go for it. I mean I’d like to see what 9G would feel like, but maybe if they pushed me there for like a second or so and then back again 😆
Oh yeah, it was always my dream to try one of those as a kid! I think you could handle a lot more Gs in there though because is sustained and smooth. Part of the issue with high Gs on coasters is that it can be jolty or sudden, and that's what hurts
@@coaster_shark Well, the reason why I305 makes grey out / people pass out so much is not the jerky twisty bits later. It's the first turn. So smooth, nothing wrong with that. It's the length of time it holds you at that force. 5.2G's is a heck of a lot of force and that's what you get on Olympia Looping and the Boomerangs. I'd say you hit the 5.2Gs for longer on Olympia. You FEEL that. But even though I305 is 4.5G, it's that sustained G force that gets you. Not the G force jerk I'd say. (Lol if I305 hit 5.2Gs and did that turn... hmm... I think even I'd pass out with that one. Perhaps. ;) ). You're not allowed to push civvies past 3G's in a centrifuge, apparently...
Good point, maybe it's just the g-suit that makes the difference then 😉 i would be disappointed if I managed to go on a centrifuge and they only took me to 3G though! The other thing I always wanted to do was the vomit comet - that looks like great fun
