For the majority of Malaysian skaters (the ones that go skate in the streets, not your skatepark dad types), Tugu Negara or the National Monument area is a place of bliss to shred.
Rather than considering it as an insult, it is very much an honour for skaters to be photographed or filmed at this iconic spot - we display our nationalism in a different way.
In 2014, WeS Kremer stopped by this landmark during DC Defy Concention Tour and whipped out a switch backside flip that was immortalised it to the pages of The Skateboard Mag.
But of course the locals knew the lay of the land better and Tugu Negara has been a staple skate spot in KL, hosting sick tricks by the raddest Malaysian skaters.
Enjoy a compilation of pure street skating bliss across the years, where no one made a fuss about it. Not even the security guards. 💯
If you’re not familiar with skating in the city, go out and geddit!
Otherwise, you can always bitch on social media because in the end of the day, the reality is you’re just a sad insecure dude that’s policing the scene - while contributing nothing.
All skate no hate ✌🏽
