ALL-STAR CAMEOS!! | VoicePlay REACTION #42: “Just Sing” 

Mykal Kilgore hasn’t collaborated with them since they started their RU-vid page, but he’s one of the original members, together with Scott Porter, Geoff, Layne and Earl.

Scott Porter did a recent collab with them for Halo. Halo is stunning, and it's one of the performances that has us all begging reactors to listen to the end. Scott has a lot to say. Short but deep.

Scott Porter was from the original group when they were 4 to 5. He was the beat boxer for them. When he left to pursue an acting career Layne took over as the beat boxer. Scott appeared with them in the Halo video.

I love this! It's my favorite VP collaboration of all time. It was cleverly done and cameoed (is that a verb?) so many a cappella stars that we've come to recognize over the last decade. Of course, I have a soft spot for any spot Tim shows up on. He and Geoff have such a mutual respect for one another. And, of course, I love that VP was doing this to help fellow singers whose livelihoods were smashed by Covid. Well done, VP! Thanks, Cole for putting your spotlight on it!

Voiceplay used to be 4:2:five, so this is a video with former members and collaborators.

Not suggesting it as something to react to, but something to watch on your own for fun - for the three year anniversary of the release of this, thirty-four VoicePlay fans from around the world (VoicePlay Project) recreated this video, using the karaoke track, to show the guys how they not only created a global community through their music, but how much they are loved by their fan base.

Nice to see collaborations & for a good cause. Everyone's favorite part is when Tim Foust makes his cameo appearance!

Scott was the beat boxer before Layne.

One of Home Free's first videos during quarantine was called "Quarantine." It is a take-off on Billy Joel's "Honesty." If you haven't seen it yet, please consider reacting to it. They did some very clever things even though they were still working out how to do all the remote recording and video editing.

This was great. They did this to raise money for singers during quarantine.

The girl who starts the song is the daughter of Pasquale, who we see as Sandy Claws in Oogie Boogie's Song. Pasquale and his sister Kathy were part of an a cappella group in college. Their father taught high school chorus and asked the group to perform for his class, and that's how Geoff met his future wife. (I'm a romance novelist; I LIVE for how-they-met stories like theirs.) Layne, Geoff and Earl had formed a singing group in high school, originally doing barbershop type music. When they decided to add vocal percussion/fifth member, they changed the group name to 4:2:Five and Mykal Kilgore and Scott Porter were part of 4:2:Five. Elizabeth Garozzo, who we see in Hall of the Mountain King and hear in Frozen II Medley (featuring Adriana) performed with Sounds of Liberty at Disney back when they were all in high school. The a capella community seems to be one big, loyal group of friends. Restores my faith in humanity some days.

Mykal Kilgore (baritone) was early member before going to Broadway.

My famiily were all musical and my big sister and a cousin had me singing rounds with them from a very early age, so harmonies were just a thing we did. I've loved hearing people in harmony ever since. This was an incredible production. They also did other things during lockdown. I Will Survive, for one. So clever.

Of course, Tim and Geoff have to throw in a little humor! EOV
