Jinkx holding that Dave joke for 10 years and then doing it on the show AS Judy Garland is one of the most clever and funniest moments on reality TV ever. And definitely the smartest thing anyone has ever done on Drag Race. Jinkx is a certified genius and legend.
Not only was it hilarious, but it was kind of bittersweet, too. Dave's spoken about what he meant by that in the first place, where while hanging out with her in Boston in 1968, he gave Judy Garland some Seconal (a barbiturate sleeping agent) on her request to help her sleep while in London (she was moving and people weren't letting her have anything), not realizing what the ramifications could be to give an addict access to heavy doses of what they're addicted to (even though there was less than ten pills in the bottle). He used to be a hospital corpsman during the Vietnam War, so he had access to it and got her it to try and help a friend out. She was found dead with the bottle near her (according to a newspaper report he saw in D.C.), and while it didn't have any name attached or anything, he knew it was the bottle he gave her because it had the military label on it. To Dave, drag queens channel those who they impersonate, so it really did feel like Judy herself was saying "you're not at fault", and she was clever enough where she probably could have found it or asked someone else for it and the same thing would have happened. He was really touched that Jinkx remembered that and made a joke out of it-catharsis and humor for all!
The bewildered look at the very end when Judy's mic cord comes off is just gold. So glad they kept that in. It's all the little details make it so hilarious. Anyone not watching this is missing out. But you will be outed girls. I know who you are, you've still got your fabulous festivus fairy lights on twinkles ✨️
That’s what I love about jaida honestly, she knows how to keep going and not let anything shake her even if she’s not doing the best, she will still come up with SOMETHING. Even if it’s “look over there!!” Iconic
I remember when Kennedy Davenport wanted to impersonate a man for the Snatch Game he pretty much got a lot of criticism for that but he ended up opening a big door for other competitors of the next seasons
Wasn't the first time when Alaska was a drag version of a boy for the children's stories challenge? I think that was one of the reasons that team lost. Ru ripped him a new one. I felt so bad and thought it wasn't fair. Glad it evolved. They still somehow make these men drag versions of them. Kind of genius.
@@cthonias Ehh, I've seen it, and it wasn't really a drag version of a boy. She wasn't that dressed up. Doing a character? Yes, but there was nothing to that look. If she'd amped it up a bit, I think she wouldn't have gotten as much flak.
i love when people do what michelle did at that moment. like she knew it was funny but then she realized just how funny it was and died because of how good of a joke it was lol.
Jinx cleared but we gotta recognize Raja's commitment to the transformation. Only queen I could remember on top of my head that went to that level was Dela.
I think Trinity couldn't have done a better job doing Leslie. This was the only Snatch Game where everyone did two great jobs and it was nice not to see the same characters I would love to see all the SG winners compete against each other and it has to be a new one.
Yes, but---for just a moment I completely forgot I was watching our beloved Jinkx do Natasha. Then all of the sudden realizing I was not watching Natasha herself! I've never done that before! Yeah, I was cannabis-ed, but I'm always cannabis-ed. It was a phenomenal performance.
Jaida is SO good at selling herself. She knows she's not the wittiest per se, but she embraces that and isn't afraid to live in the moment and laugh at herself. And because of that she is always of the most entertaining people in the room.
@@rogerdodger1984 true. that 3-star reward was bullshit. it felt like it was production's way of putting the queen they want in the top 4. based on performance, the top 4 should've been: jinkx, trinity, the vivienne, and a toss-up between raja and jaida. hell, even yvie had a better overall performance than shea and monet.
@@rogerdodger1984 I kind of think the editors were giving Jaida more of a chance by putting her in the other lip sync group. It was already clear nobody but Jinkx could possibly win, so putting Jaida in the "finale" group would have been less good for her overall.
I literally thought before the episode that Jinkx was bound to let us down because her original was just so iconic. WRONG. Right before Snatch Game started, I remembered that she’s done SG so many times on cruise ships, etc. and she’s so good at it. Thank god we got this.
Her Natasha Lyonne was spot on as well. I love Natasha and she's got a very clipped way of speaking that's not easy to impersonate..... Jinkx is amazing!!
I wish she had being on top. Coz TTT was great but the devil can have any personality, there’s no point of comparation . But the care that Raja gaves to hers characters were amazing. And that Runway OMG perfection.
Everyone is taking about Jinkx (rightfully so, she was my favorite this episode), but I want to mention Raja’s makeup! She is completely unrecognizable, which is so impressive.
I know everyone says Jinkx's Dave joke was a stroke of genius (and it was!), but can we take a moment to acknowledge Jinkx reworking Rupaul's songs Judy Garland style?
I'm sure it made Ru very happy to hear the original intro worked into the episode. It was a genious way to gain some brownie points with Ru and to add a little nostalgia. After all, the original intro is still the best!
A Judy Garland snatch game was long overdue but what Jinkx delivered here made the wait worthwhile. The universe was simply waiting for the one and only queen who could do Judy justice to make her comeback.
Raja perfectly encapsulated Madame’s movements and the look of her face, and she even had the rods that Madame’s puppeteer used to move her hands. Such an underrated performance!
@@sebastianserranogarza9314 it's the theme song while they present the prizes every episode. It used to be "may the best woman win" (which was what jinkx was singing) but they changed it on season 13 to "may the best drag queen win" to be more inclusive due to the first transman contestant on the show.
I first watched this before I realised this was running so I didn’t know who was on the season and I was like who tf is that??? I literally couldn’t tell at all who it was
For sheer humor and entertainment, Jinx’s Judy is a masterclass, but Roger’s Madame and Vreelqnd are pure artistry. Love that a new generation is getting schooled in classic camp. Bravo!
Ru really said, we gave you the worst snatch game ever with Season 14, so here’s the best snatch game ever to make up for it AND double the celebrities!
I will never get over: ‘Is this my camera?’ and that endless microphone cable. 😂 It was a memorable snatch game, but Jinkx has ended this forever. I don’t think anyone will ever top this.
It was great! But out of all the snatch games... I don't know about this being the best. In my opinion, I can think of a few that I thought were pretty close. Jinkx as Little Edie - she is a pro when it comes to snatch games. I have to say Ben de La Creme as Maggie Smith, Denali as Jonathan Van Ness, and of course when Bob did Uzo and Carol Channing, that ranked pretty high for me. If we're including the snatch Game of Love, the Flavor Flav and Eartha Kitt impersonations had me crying I was laughing so hard. Either way, I cannot explain the excitement I feel when a new snatch is shown. The talent of these queens is out of this world.
I feel so thankful that the show exists. It has some of the best fans, like you who appreciates the greatness. I had to re-watch the newest snatch game and I swear it gets funnier every time. I love when you don't know much about the person they choose to do for the snatch game and it doesn't matter, some of can still absolutely crush it. I had no idea who Little Edie was and I didn't know much about Maggie Smith, but those are my favorite types of performances. I always get scared when they go for Beyonce... there have been some pretty cringe ones that honestly, I adore too. Obviously at this point they should be prepared, but it's easy to judge when you're watching TV, knowing fully that even in the worst of the snatch game contestants, they still are a million times better than I could ever be if I were in that position. I'm a female so I couldn't go on the show anyway, but it is fun to think about who I would choose to do for the snatch game. 🤔☺
@@JF-wn2yb you’re really trying to put Denali’s JVN among the all time great Snatch Game performances? That’s certainly a choice. She wasn’t even close to being the best on her season, Gottmik absolutely smashed it as Paris.
yo it's like people forget raja was a professional makeup artist. glad to see her makeup talent is still excellent. i wonder how she felt about shea's miss j though since she worked with miss j for so long!
Jinkx’s Judy was obviously impossibly and insurmountably astounding and immaculate perfection and ICONIC but her Natasha Lyonne was IDENTICAL and super funny and underrated too!!! It’s Monsoon season again at last!! 🥲😭💕😌🥰💃🏻💅🏻
I'm convinced it's that one line that pushed Trinity into the top two, it was neck and neck with her and Raja for the whole game but that one line just sent her over the edge.
@@Wendigirl11 the song used to be ‘May the best woman win’. To make it more inclusive, now the song has been updated to ‘best drag queen win’. Hence Trinity correcting Jinx to the updated version.
The best part about Jinx is that she made Judy her own but she also got the mannerisms down to a T... the curled hand when singing, the wrapping the chord up.... its SO good
@@svtluvbot in jinkx’s original season, Dave was a person who made an appearance on a makeover challenge, and he made that out of the blue comment about being responsible for Judy’s death, and Jinkx made a public announcement at the end of this snatch game telling him that it wasn’t his fault. This callback went all the way back 10 years or so, therefore this whole joke has technically been marinating since jinkx’s original season; and honestly, it was probably one of the reasons Jinkx chose Judy. It’s the biggest home run, cause it was so unexpected that anyone would pull off something like that, but ofc it had to be Jinkx
Obviously Jinkx won. But Raja blew me away. THE BEST TRANSFORMATION OF ALL TIME. The way she looked AND sounded saying “purrrpleee mittenz” SENT ME to another dimension and I don’t know when I’ll be back
Both Raja and Trinity had amazing transformations, I don't know how much time they had but going from one character to another is impressive enough. I also was rooting for Raja but there was just no way.... That Luci was hilarious and Jinkx was on another level.
The way Jinkx recalled a personal story from the very show she is on and made it so heartfelt AND funny…. She didn’t just break the 4th wall, sis broke the 5th, 6th, and 7th walls just because she COULD. TEAM TALENT.
i'm so impressed by not just raja's jokes, but her physical comedy and ability to LOOK like a puppet being swung around. she's fucking out of this world
“They changed it to drag queen” took me out so hard. I was basically dead on the grassy knoll after that. Amazing final line of the best snatch game ever
It was a great edit! If you look the microphone isn't in front of her while she is singing. I wonder what she really closed with..... Regardless damn this was great
This just proved that Jinx is not nothing to be played with and she has an extremely viable chance of taking the crown. And this is coming from somebody who is Team Jaida all the way.
I thought Jaida’s prince, while not a totally spot on representairon of him, was hilarious.. and he WAS strange and weird in interviews. He loved being weird…. I thought it was great….. but yes, Jinkx is SUCH a force to be reckoned with, I haven’t picked a definitive team but i will say that after the cast announcement I was immediately excited about Jinkx and Yvie.
I'm probably going to get crapped on for saying this, but putting Jinkx with this cast is a waste. She's just too good, and no one here can catch her in terms of comedy and acting. Jinkx would only have a hard time winning if she were competing with Bob, Alaska, or Bianca.
Well tbh if this was a regular season or like the previous AS seasons Jaida or Yvie would've had the shady edit to make sure they're the bottoms of the week, the two obviously had the least amount of air time during the snatch game and most of their jokes were just mediocre compare to the other six. They're not bad but just not as great and funny as the others.
Edited different the Shakespeare would’ve got a laugh. S11 wasn’t that special either. S4 could’ve been edited shady & our everyone in bottom besides chad & Sharon
Ugh! Everyone is now an expert in editing and production, y’all sheep sound the same, you can’t watch anything drag race related without one of you talking about the editing like a broken record, THIS WAS the best snatch game and the other was the worse period.
I DISAGREE. YES, THOSE THREE WERE EXCELLENT. BUT I THOUGHT MONET, SHEA, YVIE, JADA AND VIVIENNE WERE VERY BLAH. IF THOSE THREE WEREN'T THERE, THIS WOULD'VE BEEN AS BAD AS S14.
@@alexone8338 right? From anyone else it would have felt like show boating but this was just so natural. So good! And the Dave moment was just the freaking perfect cherry on top 👌
I LOVE Raja's choice to do Madame. It's a very cool choice, even if you never heard of her before, and it introduces the new generations to the hilarious genius of Madame/Wayland Flowers. I adore queens who do old school references like that. I hope fans searched for old Madame videos to watch. ♡
The force of her talent was on display... the mannerisms, voice, comedic bits ready to fly, and the ability to do a character interpretation of her singing... all on point.
It was a good impression it just wasn’t funny enough, like she could’ve defo played the “am I bovvered? Face, bovvered?” Schoolgirl character and that would’ve been way funnier. Viv is an amazing impressionist, I was expecting her to do Kim Woodburn and Cilla black :(
absolutely blew my mind away yes!!! that Madame was amazing, but then to top it with that RIDICULOUS Diana Vreeland makeup??? I STILL can hardly see Raja in there even after I try!!! along with her runways the bitch has proven to STILL be an absolute legend. wow.
No question that Jinkx slayed, but I give major kudos to Raja - the artistry for both of her characters were impeccable, while she had incredible physical comedy with Madame.
First off, I completely agree that Jinkx is an effing legend. But can we appreciate how amazingly Raja did? Both Madame and Diana Vreeland were perfectly acted, the jokes landed, and the makeup/effects were on effing point. Trinity did really well too, won't take that from her, but I just enjoyed Raja more.
Raja slayed, it was just more understated than Trinity. It's a MARVEL how well Raja transformed into those characters and landed all the jokes perfectly. Comparing that with Trinity's take is like comparing apples and oranges. I think they were equally good for different reasons.
I’m convinced NOBODY can do such legendary characters like Judy Garland like Jinkx! I also love the fact that Ru remembered Dave but forgot Jinkx’s and Nina’s name
I read a comment days ago about a "behind scene" moment were production had to show Ru who Dave is. I don't know if this is true, but I wanted to share it.
Jinkx is my favorite RuPaul queen, and even though she WON her damn season, I feel like she is FINALLY getting the long past due respect she deserves. She is an ICON.
She’s been my favorite to I was so happy she won her season she’s great she had a hard season, “ Water off a Ducks Back “ winning is the best revenge love you Jinkx❣️🥰
sure, i remember about 4-5 years ago, my friends would call season 5 the season with the worst crowned queen, i kinda agreed back then but after watching her performances outside of drag race over the years ive learned to eat my words, shes an absolute powerhouse
Ridiculously, whenever someone asks me a serious question nowadays, my brain immediately goes to "Purple mittens!". I would've loved to see more of Raja's amazing Diana Vreeland.
@@stefanusefanruntunuwu8269 Ru’s original one-liner and the lyrics were “May the best women win”, but since the franchise opened up more for the trans and non-binary community and they getting more representation in the show, they changed it to “may the best Drag Queen win” to be more gender-neutral Trinity's line is referring to this change with a little cheeky and shady context - that is why it is funny:)
I have my favorites, but this is up there. Also, I'm embarrassed to say I couldn't tell who half of the queens were in character. They are truly artists.
@@honestcat8881 yes! 100% Bob and Bianca Del Rio can do no wrong in my opinion, they are elite. I want to see Adore Delano and Shangela as well just because I can't get enough of them.
Even the bad ones were good! Like seriously in some seasons this SG's bottom two would be high (yes talking about Jaida and Yvie). Obviously, SG is very flawed because so much depends on the editing and Ru's reactions (which again can be edited), but I am quite sure this SG is the best of all times, future seasons included lol
What i love about this is you could feel they were all having fun! They felt good playing off of each other. They werent afraid of elim, so they took more risks and the vibes was just so different. This rlly is the best snatch game
I know everyone is heads over heels over Jinx's Judy Garland and for good reason, but her Natasha Lyonne was also perfection. Shout out to Trinity for Leslie Jordan and Raja for Madame!
Rewatching it here I laughed at all the expected places but I also got a new laugh out of Raja's incredibly stupid "PuRpLE mItTens!" Line. I forgot that existed because there were so many great moments but it really was funny. Good job to just about everyone on that stage, they killed it
Natasha Lyonne wouldn't have taken her to Top 2 in the first one. It would've been Lucifer and Madamme with Mike being 3rd. Judy died years ago but saved Jinkx's Snatch Game title.
Jinx , Raja and Trinity hands down BEST snatch game ever! And Judy Garland decrees That Dave did not in-fact “kill” her !!! And Raja saying “Purrrrrple Mittens”!!!🤣🤣🤣🌈
I love how Jinkxy probably planned this whole Dave the veteran killed Judy Garland storyline so much in her head that she was like YAAAAAAAS Imma gag them all on this season and pull that reference so many years later. So ICONIC!!! 💜💜💜
@@therealverdadero332 NEWS FLASH: jaida won season 12, sorry your white fav lost fair and square. the fact that jaida cried on national television because of “fans” like you constantly invalidating her win. the fact that gigi was constantly being pushed by production, giving her wins when other people shouldve gotten them, and then still was beat by jaida essence hall, the essence of beauty, just goes to show how talented jaida truly is.
I was completely blown away by Raja. For sure Jinkx and Trinity met and exceeded expectations, but I was most suprised by Raja and both her characters. Evident she's more than a fashion queen and she is timeless in her talent as it's been the longest since her last season for her
yep. Jinkx absolutely KNOCKED it out the park with Judy, Trinity was fucking hillarious too, but the one who blew my mind the most expectation-wise? Raja easily. I legit thought time might catch up with her like with Latrice in AS4... oh HELL NO!!!
