I remember watching this film in grade school back in the 1980s. It crushed my soul. I did not recall that it took place on Venus. If it did, humans would not be able to survive on its surface. The rain would be acid rain. Not to mention the winds, heat, and pressure. But giving the author the benefit of the doubt, let us say it was Venus sometime far in the future, where the climate has been tamed somewhat. If rains abated once every 7 years, you would still have a problem. The planet would either be a water world or a soggy marsh. There would be no way the children could run around outside in the fresh green grass. It would still be a mess of a planet for humans. This story requires the suspension of disbelief. However, I am still emotionally scarred by this depressive tale after almost 40 years.

Mam, I have to theories about this story full stop can you tell me which one is accurate? 1 - The children were sceptical about the sun showing up so they considered bullying Margot as any other day. Forgot about her due to the excitement, experienced the sun then felt remorse for how did deprived her of the experience unintendedly. 2 - They intentionally locked her up in the closet so she would not see the sun but felt guilty later. Also, Mam can you tell what was the reason of self-realization if the second theory is true?
Second theory is right in case anyone is wondering and the moment of realisation was when the sun went away and the kids came to the same level as Margot.
