Moreya is a VERY interesting design for Terran, everything about it seems to be a hybrid of Terran design at its core but then incorporating alien engineering. Really love that Egosoft actually introduced a ship like that as it has been a while since I've personally seen the idea of race hybridisation designs in the X series.... think the last time I saw a ship that was clearly a hybrid design between two races was in the original X:BTF.
Some of the small and medium ships look great, but a lot of the uglier ones make me wish they looked more like their counterparts from X3: Terran Conflict, like the scout for example.
I've recently bought the game and have been studying your videos for it. It really gives me the impression that, so long as the user interface is good enough, you can really build a Homeworld-like experience within this game, executing complex strategies with complex fleet compositions. Do you think the game as it is now allows for this already, or is the A.I. or interface just not suited for that level of RTS gameplay?
One thing to add regarding the Moreya Fighter is that it also has storage for Solid and Liquid. I'm not sure why Egosoft did that but I'd think there's reasoning behind it.
I beg of you to do a new player walkthrough/tutorial at release, I bought this game at initial release and have always struggled with it. I have since then started playing the beta, and I'm starting to lock down the base mechanics and controls, but I would love to play this game with a helpful teacher like you. Enjoying the videos!
1) Can we talk about the (apparently new) sexy lighting effects? My behemoth fleet is about to be sparkling :D 2) The moreya has universal storage !?!?!
And that Baldric core frame to me looks less Romulan and more inspired by the smaller Bentusi ship designs (From Homeworld, specifically the Bentusi Destroyer). Got the curved centre design with the two extended arms going frontward with the front of the ship being open following the curve of the arms.
Mason stream is my kind of weapon, high damage and low cooling cycle. The reason is simple, for example ship with 3 weapon slots, put 2 ions as primary weapons and 1 mason for secondary. In the first pass take down the enemy shield with ions in few shots then fire a mason once on his hull and kablamoooo, almost one hit kill (for ships under 6000 MW of hull) :P Pretty damn good combination if you ask me, specially if you use ship with 4 or 5 weapon slots, you can even mix this setup with some barage or lasers, or even put more ions and mason as well (for easily taking down Medium corvetes/gunboats or even Large ships ^^). Again example, take the ship with 5 slots, install 3 ions for shield damage and put 2 masons for hull, when you take down the shield (easy enough) of the enemy, just fire those 2 masons and do almost 10K hull damage to the ship (insta kill for mediums), but instead of having 3 ions, you can install only 2 and put just one missile/torpedo, just to be able to bombard the enemy until masons come back online (if you miss the shot ofc) :D Pretty good stuff :D
I jumped back recently with COH. The Terran story seems to be really good so far, and their ships are so nice. I'm looking forward to getting a new one after I make some cash.
Not only that... I feel like there are missing chances to get money in TER sectors. I can't pinpoint a single thing, but overall I'm missing opportunities.
I betray the Terrans and side with the Yaki, thing is, i already have basically all terran blueprints... The terrans got really piss of with me, but the funny thing is that the ANT, TEL, PIO and ARG immediately side with me and start to fight back the Terrans too, pretty fun set the galaxy on fire while i make a power grab of all xenon sectors... Also the VIG and HOP, really hate me, the VIG because i built a station that sells food in their sectors, and the HOP because they were my favorite favorite pirated faction, rip HOP, i miss their ships.
Frog: Works for me well Kopis: A bit strange, but good ship as well Nimcha: Hopefully Yaki Rapier: Damn, i remember this being an USC ship in X3, so the one above is one as well?..... Sigh..... Takoba: Looks good, but it doesnt feel that much like a Terran ship. Maybe i need to see it in white. Kukri: Cant be Terran. Terrans are symetrical. Moreya: Never Terran. Never..... Gotta be Yaki. Kalis: Yes. Yes. Yes. And yes. Gladius: Gladius. Know that name as well. So..... why these wings? Nothing mounted there, not flying in an atmosphere..... Just taking space and asking for more collisions. Baldric: Bought, no questions needed. Bolo: ..... Whats that? Thats a typical alien ship design..... Kuraokami: Reminds me of the heavy fighter of the Vasudans from FreeSpace 2. So.... alien.... sorry..... Katana: ..... *TearsInTheEyes Jian: The question is, what came first: The freighter, or the Gunboat? I hope Gunboat, because changing a freighter to a military ship rings a bad bell which tells me: The Terrans are in dire state, no money, resources, ideas and and and..... In short: They go downhill. Dont like that. Faix: Hmm, these Frigates kind of look all the same In X3 the USC ships were very simple. Could be boring, but they never looked bad. Were build to do their task, no to look good and i liked that. The ATF ships had the feeling of massivnes and being majestic. Gods do i love these ships. These Terran ships here in the oter hand mostly look.... fragile.... alien..... Have unnecessery long wings and other parts and kind of look too smooth. Did the military doctrine change that much? Do they look like they have superior technology and thus better fightes?.... No..... These S and M classes..... Only 3 ships really shine for me as Terran ships. The Katana, Baldric and the Kalis. The other ships arent bad, but they just dont feel Terran to me. Well, Frog can be a Terran ship too xD
To be honest, the Gladius, Rapier and Nincha wings always bothered me, altought, i always thought that it was meant to be operated both in space as in atmosphere. The Takoba and Kahlis are segaris pioneer design, not Terran, moreya and kurowkami are Yaki designs. Also the Jian doesn't seem much, but once you outfit with some split engines and turrets, you will see it as a great killing machine.
Where do you get the Moreya? Maybe I missed it in Mars? TBH I only like three S/M ships: Gladius, Moreya and Bolo. I might have to use a Bolo with escorts. At least it looks cool. :)
@@CaptainCollins GRATZI! I assume I need to find them and gain rep to buy them? If I am a HORRIBLE pilot, and cant dog fight for beans, is a Gunship a good player craft for me?
Do the meson stream works the same way as the boson lances Sharing the same cooler, so the more you have the longer all of them take to shoot again? If so I know what to put on the single gun slot of the cool looking corvette
Hope there are A.T.F ships as well, as I really don't like most of these new designs, I like symmetrical ships so the new paranid clone designs are really not selling this dlc for me, hope the Vidar is in there somewhere.
Do I need to do something special to build the Kuraokami corvette at 16:45? I searched everywhere in Earth's orbit and can't find a wharf. The wharf in Mars and Brennan's Triumph doesn't show me that ship as an option to purchase :/
What is the best configuration for the Jian?... Is the Mason stream MK2 worth it as the Jian gunship's main weapon?. Which turrets are better for the gunship the beam turrets, the bolt turrets, or a mix of the two?.
@@smooticus1691 hmm I never noticed the yaki were hybrids of Paranid in X3. Thanks for pointing that out. That said, I look forward to using that fighter
Probably those are Yaki ships, they were Paranid reskins in X3 and in X3 TC/AP Yaki made experiments using Xenon technology, if I rememeber correctly... This will explain those red details on Moreya and Kuraokami.
@@HendyVelarius basically yes, in X3 there were normal pirates and then special pirate faction Yaki who flew different ships and had their own sectors and bases.
@@HendyVelarius I think you heard the Beryll name while playing X Rebirth main plot: that's a Yaki clan, but I don't think they have unique ship designs in the game...
Are you at a terran wharf I noticed that alot of resources needed include hull parts and adv electronic or antimatter converter. Or is it just a ui bug.
re the ships, weapons, shields and engines somewhat balanced now in X4? In a sense that its not just one weapon or ship be strictly better the other ones, making the player only want to have and use a small selection of combinations. With simplistic balancing there is not much point in having that much variety.
Hi Captain, could you compare the Kuraokami with the Nemesis? I think the Moreya is the way better Pegasus. I miss the speed stats of the Frog. I see 2 shields at the Nimcha.
Just when you think, the terran frigate should look a little different from all the other factions´frigates - the Falx comes along "hey look at me, i´m just the same again!".
Wait, where can you buy those Kuraokami ships? Aren't they yaki ships? The kuraokami is basically the Paranid Nemesis with some containers on top (visuals) + extra stats
It's possibly the best player ship in the game, because of its universal cargo :) You buy either the blueprints or the ship itself in Savage Spur at the Yaki wharf. If you do the Yaki quest line you will find it easily ;) Cheers
@@CaptainCollins can agree that it's one of the best player ships in the game, but was confused as to why it's categorized as a Terran ship (could also be that I didn't pay attention to something you may have mentioned) :)
I think I want a Kuraokami for the speed and weapons. I compared with nemesis, others and it's outclassing it. now to chose the weapons.. I think I agree with capt about proton
had hopped that something like the Griffon, so a real drone carrier in the m class would be appearing. so in my opinion the stats are not better then my cobra. will see if it gets beter when i mod them(ingame)
Everything looks great - the only issue, and this is a big one, is that the ships don’t really make sense in terms of speed and agility. You have corvettes going twice as fast as fighters with nearly identical agility and much higher toughness. This is a problem in the core game too and was something that was NOT an issue in x3.
@@shaunwilson3059 unfortunately they turn comparably to heavy fighters, and a larger hit box is countered by 4-5x the durability and turrets. Obviously they won’t be equal - but their isn’t actually a nice for fighters other than purely style. In X3, it was the exception to have maneuverable corvettes - in fact, there was one and it was still not as maneuverable as heavy fighters
Nice vid Capas usual ☺️👍 I just not agree the "lazy frog green colour" they gave to all terran ships... Btw no problem here for that... As a Split (Split foreveeeeer yaaarrrff) i will blow em all as i encounter them 😂😂😂😂
Well after the turrets had been buffed they're at least bearable now...and 6 of them with a good layout can still do some reliable damage. That said it SHOULD have been 8 or 2 front facing weapons instead of 1. It's just far too underpowerd like this. Teladi have 2 frontal and 4 turrets and are far tankier on the gunboat...and Terrans being beat by the Teladi seems to be...weird.
@@ingrimmschboindil1302 No need to be bitter. Just because it isn't the best of all ships does not mean it is useless. A lot of people will have a lot of fun using this ship and it is not useless. You get 6 turrets that will reliably do damage on their own without you having to waste time aiming at enemies. My Teladi gunboat with 4 shotgun turrets can easily take out S fighters without me having to manually aim that them. 6 will improve that, quite obviously. I only mentioned that reducing frontal turrets to 1 might just be a bit of a strong tradeoff for 2 extra turrets...but again, it's not useless!
@@davidneo3940 It is useless cause towers are useless. You need like 15 L plama beams to deal the damge of 1 main gun. Towers = useless. I dont have access to beta, or i would show the numbers here. And its no the ships itselfe, just towers on there own are useless in vanilla. No point arguing about that mr fanboy Note: how it the range on that shootgun turrets, i am sure you can just do nothing and kill all fighter within 3km range lol And no need to be sp serious, cause i am not. I will play it wirh Vro anyway so.
@@ingrimmschboindil1302 If you weren't so serious about the issue you wouldn't be so defensive about the matter. Fact is some people have fun with their gunboats/turrets. And they still get to do stuff....it is fine if you feel like they are useless to YOU. But don't turn it into a blanket statement trying to force your opinion on everyone as a universal truth. And yes, L turrets also have some very nice use. But you can still think that this is not for you in vanilla and just mod it. No harm done here. Also cut down the insults. It doesn't make your arguments look better...it does the contrary.
I really want to like the Terran ships and while I do like some of the bigger ones, none of their ships seem to have a consistent design language that you'd expect a faction to have. Most of them just look like they've been randomly thrown together from designs of all factions.
@@CaptainCollins reporting capt! 2x Jian with TER beam M seems to be doing poorly against 1 xenon M and 5 xenon S. Destroyed rather quickly when swarmed and not having enough range to fight back. Should I change the weapons Capt?
Well I played x4 foundations while ago, and it was fun for the most part, I just wish I had blueprints to build stations. I hated that I had to do piece by piece and not knowing if the station would function correctly or not. Cause it takes hours to build. Thinking of giving it a new run I guess if theres a new expansion coing. Im always a fan of humans and kinetic weaponry, So I liked the Autocannons and flak. Doesnt seem like any new kinetic weapons introduced. Kinda wish the flak was a bit more powerful, but maybe theres a mod that increases that by now.
I'm late but it is possible to save blueprints of stations you have already built. Makes it easy for trying to remember what worked and building with less hassle.
@@CaptainCollins I just double checked. Unfortunately both mass driver and the boson lance, can only shot straight ahead. The aim cant be adjusted with mouse or auto aim. I sorry the original post said other two I was referring to mass driver and boson lance
Slower? the pulse laser projectile is 3x faster than proton barrage. but still proton barrage is probably better if you aim ahead meson stream can be nice to take out fighters in one shot. but using mixed speed weapons on the same ship is problematic. I'd gather that a large force equiped with meson stream would devastate any fleet and hit and run tactics would be advantageous. still weighing my options Split Neutron Gatling (M) : has higher dps than proton, ALOT more rate but slower 1728m/s 4km 11 473 dmg/sec
Notable for shredding shields: ARG M Ion Blaster Mk2 (speed, range, rate per s, dps hull, dps engine) 2496m/s 5km 2 1,676 dmg/sec 24 dmg/sec Balanced: TER M Proton Barrage Mk2 2880m/s 4km 3.79 428.2 dmg/sec 428.2 dmg/sec Shotgun effect: SPL M Tau Accelerator Mk2 3919m/s 3km 2.5 810 dmg/sec 810 dmg/sec Also Balanced but slower, more dps SPL M Neutron Gatling Mk2 1728m/s 4km 11 473 dmg/sec 473 dmg/sec Starting to get slow but crazy damage. I bet this overheats though - forums report this is useless but I dont understand why TEL M Muon Charger Mk2 1257m/s 4km 2 1,932 dmg/sec 1,932 dmg/sec
Sorry to the talented Egosoft ship modelers you guys did an amazing job, but the Nimcha and Rapier look fugly. Asymmetry is one thing and I can enjoy asymmetric aesthetics, but what sort of space ship designer would just slap a cockpit in that position? This looks like they designed a ship and somehow forgot to add a cockpit until it's been way too late to rework the entire ship and then just slapped the cockpit to the bottom end of it and call it a day. And it's not even something you could fluff away as some form of engineering culture because those two ships are such extreme outliers to the remainder of the terran ship designs (well, to be fair there's also the Moreya which sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of the terran ships but althrough not quite to my personal liking it still looks like a spaceship and not dissimilar to other ship designs in X4). The Rapier in particular ... like what the hell is that design? Why even have that odd hull shape? You don't need wings in non-atmostspheric spaceflight so all that mass is just useless. And I'm no aeronautical engineer, but those wings don't look like they'd do much good in atmostpheric flight and that giant-ass vertical hull/wing/whatever would in either case serve absolutely no purpose at best and drag down the performance at worst. The rest of the ships look great but those two ... it's like they had to meet a minimum quota of wingspan for ship designs, did the other ships first only to figure out "oh no, we didn't put enough wings on the other ships, quick let's make two giant, convoluted wings, slap an engine, a gun and a cockpit on it so we can meet the quota!". Urgh, so ugly! The rest look great. The Jian in particular looks amazing with that "why don't we take out the heavy storage compartments on the transport ship and just bolt lots of guns to it instead?" aesthetic.
So the question I always ask. Is the control scheme for this game still horrible with many keybinds locked from changing? I believe I recall you couldn’t remap your left/right mouse to be fire buttons. Been a long time since I touched this game I just recall the controls driving me crazy and the inability to remap them to my taste unacceptable.
Meson doesn´t get the e spoken like our german i, it stays an e. Ah, you said it correctly the second time when you got to the weapons... english has such weird spelling... Nimcha has two shields, one down rear and one on top. Though you already had a shield in the upper slot, so it didn´t lit up. I only noticed because of the total shield strength, and then looked at the shopping list. Personally i would prefer if the Proton barrage turns either clockwise or counterclockwise depending on which side of the cockpit/ship it is mounted... to counter the torque...
Gotta say, I’m not blown away by any of these designs. Huge inexplicable speed differences, lacking firing arcs, all or nothing shields/weapons balance, the fighters appear to be better scouts than the scouts. Those new weapons look bland and the meson thing seems unuseable. Among the heavy and light fighters there is a clear winner, with the other one being way too slow for its limited shield strength. Slow speed and limited shields is the worst possible combination (see quasar/pulsar) and I don’t understand why Egosoft keeps balancing ships like that. They always perform like ass in fleet battles. It would be nice to see more subtle balancing, instead of just doubling/halving the amount of hardpoints/stats.
I think those are Yaki ships, as it seems they are Paranid design enhanced with Xenon technology... If I’m not mistaken, between X3 and X Rebirth a Yaki clan, named Beryll, used Xenon tech.
Idk I must say iam a little disappointed... The cool looking Models are all S-Class Ships... I never ever use them as Player Ship. M-Class are pretty much boring or another Redesign 🙄
I hate to be that guy.. but these ships look dated.. shows like The Expanse, Battle star, & so on have set new standards as to what we expect from space ship design.. The SpaceDock chan goes over this very well. Your ships have no forward mounted thrusters & nearly all weapon systems are forward facing. these things wouldnt of made it out of "Timmy's first ship" class.
