I actually really enjoy the squirrel hook. the ability to grapple trees makes it quite good for movement across the surface, before you have pylons and powerful speed accessories
@michaelelischer1565 I just use the momentum from it to go forward faster, jump before I start slowing down, and then repeat. When there's somewhere with trees clustered together, it makes it hard to do the same strategy unless you just spam the grapple to move across them
@@locrianphantom3547 thats the problem. hooks arent used for building, theyre mainly used for their high velocity or evasion. the only good thing about static is that it has the highest reach in the game, but its so horrid since its a hardmode hook. thats why spider is better personally.
The worst thing about the basics grappling hook is that you never get the hook part drop early on when it's needed the most. And then when you already got some gem hook or found one that's better, you start getting tonns of hook parts which are now worthless) Web hook early game is actually not that bad, cause it can be get pretty early and it's one of the first multi hooks. Multi hooks are useful for situations when you want to hover in the middle of the room or cave. For example for fishing, building, or just to be in a safe spot from enemy reach. And I'm surprised that it's actually longer than the basic grappling, i remember back then it was really short. Now it's pretty decent for a stage of the game. Also yeah, static hook is a bit weird to use and needs to get used to, but actually it's really great for big scale building. Very comfortable to be able to hover in a spot and move in a straight line. However it is outclassed at the moment you got the first mount with infinite flight. My personal favourite is the hook of dissonance, cause it's fast moving, blink you instantly and got a decent range
no, multihooks are completely useless. you dont need more than one hook especially in hardmode, the only good thing about web slinger is that you can naturally find it, thats literally it. the poor reach makes it neglected. and theres no need to "hover" if you cant reach anything else.
@@chillfrosted2670 not everyone should play the game like you do. If you don't use multi-hooks because it doesn't matches your playstyle - that doesn't mean that everyone shouldn't. Also another thing i like in 2+ hooks (especially early on without fall immunity) is that you stay grappled to the wall when you launch another hook. That prevents you from falling down if you missed or miscalculated the reach distance. Yet still you can jump at any moment to disable all hooks and use a multi-hook just like a singular
@@nemorianderson doesnt matter. a hook with longer distance wouldnt allow you to fall down in contrast to the spider web. theres literally no point plus a longer hook with better velocity means you can perform better in boss fights. perfect example is the bat hook. and yes not everyone plays the game the same im aware. however why are you attempting to force a multi hook playstyle then? along with that, a tier list is entirely opinionated then? do you expect people to not come in with an opinion or something? might as well put every hook thats multi at S since thats your playstyle then? your logic is so flawed its like youre saying everyone doesnt play the game the same then you continue to try proving your point when i clearly dont play the same like you.
@@nemorianderson also just because someone prefers a particular style of play doesn't mean inferior tools become superior. the fact remains that the spider hook and static hook are subpar compared to other options. if your playstyle relies on tools that are objectively worse, that's your choice, but it doesn't change their overall ranking. staying grappled to the wall with multi-hooks is a minor benefit that doesn't outweigh their significant drawbacks in range and versatility. you might find it useful in niche situations, but for most players, these hooks are a hindrance rather than a help. the bottom line is that better options exist, and sticking to suboptimal tools doesn't make them any less bad. "If you don't use multi-hooks because it doesn't matches your playstyle - that doesn't mean that everyone shouldn't." "Also another thing i like" do you get it? you just yapped about playstyles then talked about your own biases that YOU liked. "yet still you can jump at any moment to disable all hooks and use a multi-hook just like a singular" in what scenario would you be in where you're supposedly on the edge of a block trying to make it to another wall, which another longer hook cant reach. tell me genuinely. the only multi hooks pre boss are the ivy hook, fish hook and web hook. tell me, do you really think a hook like the bat hook can't reach another side? genuinely what scenario are you thinking of? its clear your argument makes no sense and you're attempting to grab onto the least likely scenarios. these scenarios are so unlikely, that it would almost never happen in a real playthrough. therefore the benefit of multi hooks are outclassed and thrown away since you can't prove your argument.
As a newjeans fan who just gotten into terraria recently and watches your videos for the tiers i must say the music in the background was such a pleasant surprise
wrong. queen slime hook literally destroys legendary moon lord. i can tell you havent beaten the game in legendary since you clearly dont know your stuff. i have a video proving my point on why queen slime hook would be S tier.
@@lumalumii clearly is. did you not read their comment? "I gotta disagree with the queen slime, [...] loose all your momentum *which realy sucks in fights* ".
@@chillfrosted2670 you won't use your hook in the moon lord fight most of the time, by then, you'll probably have good wings or even the rod of discord. The queen slime hook is good, but awful for gaining momentum (one of the reasons i use grappling hooks). I get your point, but it's not that valid in my opinion.
I feel like static hook was way lower than it should cuz it allows you to position yourself with a lot of precision, unlike most hooks being sort of erratic by dragging you to whatever it sticks to. It's probably not the best for combat but for building and other activities it probably works well like some sort of platform
at the point of progression you get it in, its not worth it. the placing was perfectly fine, it wasnt lower than it should be, it quite literally is the worst hook in the game. also every hook can be used for building, building is also subjective as not everyone will be building late game. "other activities" should be the last thing on priority, fights should be first priority.
Thanx fo the video! I alway wanna know what the different between all gem hooks. And I dont even know, that my favorite spider hook is D-tier😣and Ivy Whip is much better.
Slime Hook is fun because it's made of slime :) But generally I just get it since going to the jungle early is annoying, King Slime is generally handled in my runs before going to the jungle, and I also generally don't care to do angler quests in my very early game, so i find it fairly useful. Also I just like the slime items so it's a personal favorite of mine well into the game
@@AyyDraws the wiki does not make mention of the literal moon boulders spawned in the zenith seed. so no, instead of actually assuming things play the literal game.
These are some of the best and highest quality guides I've ever watched. They are highly informative and dont waste your time much like other guides. Keep up the good work man! 👏
One slight counterpoint on gem hooks: What else are you really using gems for unless you're a heavy, heavy builder? In terms of non-aesthetics the gems craft 3 things each: A robe, a staff and a hook. So imo the rarity is counter balanced by the fact that there isn't a lot of other things you'll want to make with them, especially of you're not going magic.
