Your wrap ups are basically how I find books lately and luckily this one came the day before a flight so now I have new books to go buy ✨✨ love your channel so much
Same. I have a long TBR of fully finished series for now that I own (and love but reading slump eugh). But... I keep jotting down the interesting ones to get once I have all those finished. Or not, depends if they still interest me... like maybe a year later. :)
Thank you for handling the trigger warnings well. I like that you mention that they exist without telling us what they are. It has actually ruined so many books for when a reviewer says what they are without some sort of a spoiler tag.
This came out 12 hrs ago so it was 2am for me too up in northern europe haha 😁 it's become one of my favorite things to have my breakfast with a new cari video (or jack edwards on the off days!!) 😍🤭
I'm so glad you posted these, I look forward to them every month. I just got back from bombing a chem test and saw this and it made me feel a lot better.
I'm curious to know how your second read of Prisoners Throne goes! For me the POV switch made it more interesting. In book one Oak is such a mystery to Wren (and us) and in book two (minor spoiler) since Wren changes so much at the end she because a huge mystery to Oak (and us). It kept me on my toes a little
Cat Sebastian is one of the FEW writers I read for 'not plot, just vibes' and I'm OBSESSED with all of their books! Every time I'm sick I just lay down with an audiobook and I'm immediately better. So happy to see that they're getting the praise they deserve!!
I'm glad it's not just me who's noticed oddities with how translated korean dialogue in books sometimes reads off, i've felt the same about some books i've read translated into english and have never seen anyone else say the same! i'm excited to check out snow globe now, would've probably never heard of it had you not mentioned it!
I have been absolutely OBSESSED with your videos this last week or two. No joke, binging every single video every chance I get. Especially when I’m working, almost like listening to an audiobook or podcast. Ugh! Youre great!!!
omg cari! I’m probably going to end up going to korea this summer and you should do a “things you should know as an american tourist coming to korea” on your main channel and then do a bookshop tour for seoul on this channel! (just ideas lol and it would probably help the small cute bookshops in seoul)
Hi Cari 🌷🍄🌼🌻 Just wondering, would you ever do a plot summary video for caraval? For those of us who are impatient and want to just read once upon a broken heart series. 🧚🌈🌸💐💕
Yes please! I tried to get into it and the world was so interesting but I just had such a hard time staying focused so I feel like her doing a plot summary would help me line my thoughts up better
@@mommybird4768 yes! Reading the synopsis I already know the story is not my thing, but the once upon a broken heart series is. And Cari said the writing in caraval isn't as good either... I know we all LOVE Cari's delivery when she does a plot summary video 🤣😂🤣
you read/dnf-ed two of my recent favorites, stay true hurts like no one’s business if you’ve been in a similar situation and it was nice to hear someone else’s perspective about it. I personally think biography of x is worth pursuing simply because it goes back into depth about their relationship and weird fragments of x’s life, but it is a lot lol you are right, don’t feel to pressed but if you’re bored and ready to give it another try. Something interesting too is, this is a paraphrased quote from a news outlet (nyt or smth) review is that the author did an ungodly amount of historical research because all the historical people are real (connie converse included!!) and that lacey essentially hollows them out and scoops out their true stories and insides and fills them with what she needs them to have done within the world and it’s quite interesting to look into. things to look into: book of doors by gareth brown, i think you’d be into it
omg i’ve been waiting for your review of this woven kingdom!! i couldn’t decide if i loved or hated the first couple books bc the pacing was SO strange to me but the third one LITERALLY changed me just bc cyrus’ yearning and pining is everything i’m obsessed now
your wrap ups are literally my source of new novels to read 😭❤️ also please please read ‘i who have never known men’ i would love to hear you talk about it
Hi Cari! Found you recently and can't stop watching. Was wondering if you would do a series on your favorite book by genre. For example the best fantasy books you've ever read. I really trust your opinion! Thanks x
I hated The Prisoner’s Throne. I liked Stolen Heir enough but I don’t really understand the point in this series existing. None of the characters were written well. Wren did nothing in tpt, it really annoyed me how convenient it was that wren couldn’t use her powers as it would have killed her cos the book would have ended so much earlier. I don’t think Holly Black did enough to explore how the fae are very different to humans. it was a missed opportunity to explore how Fae manipulate humans into contracts or how they can’t lie to each other, and how different their moral compass is. They didn’t feel fae enough apart form their appearance and ability
Fate Inked in Blood started off strong for me, but ended up being a 3 star read for me for the reasons you mentioned. My 5 star read recently has been The Spark of the Everflame!!❤❤ Love that series and looking forward to the 4th book in June
I think the heavy hand on romance did it a disservice. It’s fundamentally strange to me to write a woman coming from a miserable, abusive relationship who wants freedom to immediately spend so long pining after someone else.
I just recently read the warm hands of ghosts! I liked it, and it was neat to see characters from halifax in a book because the halifax explosion is very much local history for me. I also just got silver under nightfall and where sleeping girls lie out from the library so we're on the same reading wavelength!
When I first heard about tahereh mafi and shatter me years ago, I thought it was so cool, but I'll never read the series looking at the way she's stretching the books just for the sake of publishing something. I get it why authors do that, occasionally it's fun and good but to keep on doing that on repeat makes me want to question their credibility as an author, as a person who is in the creative spectrum.
The warm hand of ghosts was so fucking disappointing for me. The author could've done so much better - it doesnt feel like she is the one who wrote this book. This is coming from a huge fan of her writing and storytelling in the Winternight trilogy.
Omggg so happy to see Cat Sebastian love!! We Could Be So Good has been one of my fave reads this year, the characters are so so well done, would definitely recommend. So excited to read You Should Be So Lucky now 🤩
hearing your thoughts on when ghosts call us home makes me think a lot about plain bad heroines by emily danforth. i think you would really enjoy that if you haven’t already!!
Hello lady! I have a recommendation for you that I think you will absolutely love if you haven’t read it already! One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig. It’s about the Kingdom of Blunder where those who succumb to this mysterious mist are put to death because they start to develop magic afterwords. Our main girl is affected and is hidden away. The only allowed magic is through these magic cards. Our girl touches one and absorbs the monster living in the card and lives with this entity in her head. Anyway, that’s all I say there is romance, adventure etc. it’s a duology!
32:33 I also hoped to switch pov with Wren again but this made her mysterious and all in all aided in the plot twist soo , i gave them both five stars and i am still in denial of it ending...i want more...is it too far for me say , i want a separate book about Lock's son ? •_• *half fae fox half human come onnn that's intriguing enough no?*
29:07 it seems to be a theme that I don't enjoy Holly Blacks books as much the first time I read them. The Cruel prince was kind of meh the first time and same with The Stolen Heir. When I reread them to refresh my memory for the next books I suddendly enjoyed them very much.
Crazy to hear someone talking about the Halifax explosion. Most non- Canadians don't mention the Halifax/Dartmouth area often...lots of people don't even know we exist here in Dartmouth 🤣
I legit was just thinking about you, i checked your channel maybe an hour ago, and bam now you posted! So excited to hear about some of the things I see in your thumbnail!!!!
Love finding books to read from your videos 😌 I’m currently reading Emily Wilde’s series I found in your last wrap up video and I’m really enjoying it. Will definitely save some books from this one to my tbr!
I’m with you about prisoners throne I think I would have liked it more if it had been told from Wren’s POV. I just didn’t find Oak as compelling. It def threw me off. Still fun though!
so interesting you liked the stolen heir more than prisoners' throne because I'm the opposite! I didn't connect to Wren for some reason, but I did like the episode quest. I connected more with Oak, so I think that's why I liked prisoners' throne better. I agree though, I will have to reread both...
I have the same feelings about Stolen Heir/Prisoner's Throne. SH was good and I LOVED Wren. Liked that one more than Cruel Prince series, I think (which i think is because everyone in Cruel Prince kind of sucks lol). PT was a little more of a "let down"? I don't know if it was the story itself? The pacing? Oak's voice? No idea. But it just wasn't what I expected it to be, I guess?
I’ve heard really good things about WE COULD BE SO GOOD and want to read it! I’m still pretty new to reading horror, but I’ve read more YA and Adult horror in 2022 and last year. Last year, I ended up preordering WHEN GHOSTS CALL US HOME. I read it as soon as it came out and I absolutely loved it! Wonderful YA horror! I’m glad you enjoyed it as well. It’s actually one of my comps for the YA horror I’m currently writing. 🥰 I’m so intrigued by SNOW GLOBE as well! 👀😍
I’m so excited to pick up You Could Be So Lucky! Its definitely moved up on my ARC list after your recommendation. If you’re wanting to read some more baseball books I highly recommend K T Hoffman’s The Prospects. It’s got a trans main character, queer romance, and a whole lot of joy.
I recently finished The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah which is one of the best books ive read about WW2. It had me sobbing so much at the end! 😢 I've never read a book that romantize war? Maybe in fantasy books, but definitely not in historical fiction. Today I've started These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer. Some really lighthearted historical romance 😂❤
Hiii! Do you plan on reading the Green Bone Saga, The Realm of the Elderings, The Broken Earth Trilogy, The Faithful and the Fallen, etc? I would love to hear your opinion on these adult fantasy books! ❤
I just read The Stolen Heir and Prisoner’s Throne back to back and I agree with you. While I did love seeing Jude and Cardan, the POV switch was absolutely jarring. I did enjoy them both, though. I have a quick rec for you I wanted to share also! A Sweet Sting of Salt by Rose Sutherland is an amazing story based on selkie lore with sapphic romance. I think you might enjoy 😊 Have a wonderful trip!
I highly recommend you trying The Mousai Series by E.J. Mellow. Each book focuses on a different sister somewhat inspired by the Greek fates. This world has such a unique mythos. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
If you want a better book on shield maiden that has a little romance but is more plot-focused, “Shield Maiden” by Sharon Emmerichs is a really good one with a great female main character. She’s badass, but believable!
0:31 406?? I'm so impressed bc I see idols talking about air quality all the time but I thought it was around 100? (I remember seeing alerts when my city reached 100 after a huge fire in a park)
Hi everyone. I'm looking for a book i've read about 10 years ago, maybe someone here might know. I don't remember too many details. It was a book about vampires but it was very different from other vampire books. The name of the main vampire was Adam. The main girl was in a party at the house of (i think) her professor where she meets Adam. Their relationship starts but one day some people attack them. After this scary thing the main girl runs away and leaves him. Some time later Adam finds her. At this point Adam is very angry with her and wants revenge but not in a bloody way. And than i think they were kidnapped by a weird creature. These are all the thing i remember. I'm sorry that it's not much. As i said, i read it years ago and i have no idea about the title, author or even the names of the characters. I hope somebody knows this book. Thanks in advance
Hi! Love the content. If you are ever looking for a book series to do another video along the Crave ones, the Significance series by Shelly Crane will have you absolutely DYING
Hi I love your channel and seeing all your book recommendations! Definitely inspires me to read more and provides ideas of what I would enjoy based on your wonderful reviews : ) Just wanted to ask if you have read 'Spark of the Everflame' by Penn Cole. I've read the first three books and couldn't put them down. Would highly recommend.
Read two books recently that I think match the vibe of this channel and I really enjoyed, "A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares" and "House of Hollow", both by Krystal Sutherland.
I'm almost done with We Could Be So Good and I also just love Cat Sebastian! The only romance writer I stick with. I also missed Wren being the star. I really like her character.
Okay karrie I know I spelled that wrong from the way you spell it but anyway I live in Oregon where the weather is consistently bipolar changes probably every 10 minutes however toxic soup is something I've never heard and I love that I want to kind of adopt that saying just wanted to point that out Love your channel back to the books😂
Would you be able to do a video showing how to navigate Squarespace? Setting up a template by deleting the template photos and replacing them , adding a new blog post etc. Then the process of buying a domain, linking it to the template you edited and how to link a payment method and how to delete a payment method / personal info just in case something changes and you have to let the site go.... things like that??
Hi Cari, I just finished Map of Otherlands and am now onto Bride! It's been a pretty good streak for me, and I love stand alones so I will definitely be picking up HedgeWitch. Hope to see you around in the states - possible meet up 🙏🙏🙏??
With The Warm Hands of Ghosts I found myself wanting longer Freddy chapters/maybe wishing there was a 3rd pov? I was also so sure that the antagonist was supposed to be a kind of modern version of the main antagonist from the winternight trilogy (it's not, but in my heart they were 😅) I wanted to love it, and I do think it's a really good book, I just went in with too many assumptions and expectations
Awesome vlog 💯‼️ I’m definitely going to check out The Blood Trials 😅😊 and some of the other books that you recommended because your recommendations tend to go with what I usually like to read 💯🩷😅😊
Biography of X was one of the best books I've ever read, I really recommend you try to pick it up again! It is dry a lot of the time but I think the ending is extremely thought provoking and I highly recommend, she also has some other great books that aren't as dense and dry to read, I'd give Pew a try!
Thanks as always for the cozy content. I used to be able to just sit quietly and read for hours but these days the silence is too loud. Thanks for keeping me company! Feeling like I'm sitting and listening to a friend is essential content these days. Still not reading much even though I want to, but it's nice to be reminded that reading is awesome. Tell me all about what you read, I'll be playing Graveyard Keeper lol
When i picked up Biography of X, i had no idea it was an alternate history kind of story. It really threw me lol. Yay for a nyrb classic, i love them. I haven't read Notes of a Crocodile though. I wonder if that's in the same sense as crocodile tears. I'll miss the background, but I'm so excited to see your new digs Cari 🎉
the prisoner’s throne was a disappointment 😭 I didn’t like the pov, I think the characters needed more development but also it’s just a mess. it was predictable and it could’ve been managed better
i take a lot of time to finish books too these days… i can’t seem to concentrate properly so i read super slowly and it’s so frustrating when you’re used to reading fast!!! ugh 😮💨😮💨 fighting cari 🥹
hi friend!!! love youuu. wondering if you’re gonna do a recap vid of the third book in crescent city series 👀 coming from someone who has read none of them but whatched the vid of the first teonbooos and im now far too invested lmao ❤❤
