It's okay, kali. Don't ever feel like you need to apologize for being emotional. It's who we are. A few months after my dad passed, this game came out. He was also cremated, so I immediately felt that connection. Since then, my mom has also passed and was also cremated. It hits hard. As it should.
It was such a beautiful and sad moment. The music just added to all of the feels. I'm sorry for your losses. It's moments like these that keep their memory alive 💚
@@kaliwaliyou being emotional is honestly why I watch your channel. You get into games so much that you pick up on things I never caught on to. Keep it up:)
@@TheCouto11 Yes, but it’s not a loading “screen” per se. They’re hidden loading hallways, for sure, but it still keeps that single-shot style doing it that way.
Gamers who jumped straight to GoW 2018: "He picked up that tree like it's a sack of potatoes??" or "He picked that up like it was nothing??". Ma'am Kali who started from GoW 2005: Seen him picked up, pushed and kicked things that are WAY bigger/heavier than a tree. Because he NEVER skipped leg day. I'm SO glad that you acknowledged Kratos' "slow breathe" as he was trying to calm himself. That's a plus for you for starting the older games before jumping into this game. You emotionally understand Kratos' character development🥲 We already know your gameplay and you'll never let any "loots on the loose". So just one tip: Always explore the area and NEVER let the game tells/pressures you to do what they want you to do or where to go. I'm loving your reaction and already looking forward to the next episode or should i say...this whole series😁
Your play through was recommended to me by RU-vid and I couldn’t be happier to watch this 2018 game journey. I fully appreciate people who’ve blindly played this game without prior knowledge, but seeing a playthrough of someone with ALL the previous knowledge is so refreshing and makes me feel even more connected when you understand all the small details. This playthrough and reaction earned you another follow! Thank you so much and keep up the good work!
I first watched a playthrough of this game when one of my other favorite RU-vidrs decided to play it right after it came out. I knew virtually nothing about God of War going in, yet the story and characters still resonated with me. Now thanks to your God of War playthroughs, I'm going into God of War 2018 (affectionately known by some as Dad of Boy) with a full understanding of what Kratos has been through. I'll be looking at this from a whole new perspective.
I'm so glad I decided to play the older games first! It's been an awesome journey for sure and I'm glad you get to experience the game again with more knowledge! ✨
5:25 "His chains are gone"...aaaaaand I already started crying because I knew how you were gonna react throughout the rest of the game lol. What a beautiful story this has turned out to be.
I love this game so much. Ragnarok is my #1 game of all time, with this game following quickly behind. I'm so glad you played through the others to get the background on Kratos. I'm not crying, you are!
This is the first time I watch one of your videos. You really seem like the whole package, huh. You are a loving mother, beautiful, smart and really emphatic. I love how you try to experience everything the game has to offer, you appreciate the lore and are very thorough in your exploration. Also you played the first games and therefore really get Kratos' character and his struggle to be a good father. I've seen at least 15 people play through this game but I already think, yours will be the playthrough I enjoy the most. Much love❤
Am really excited you've come a long God of War journey to this. There's the "Fallen God" comic that details Kratos' journey to the unknown after the events of God of War 3. It's quite an interesting comic if you're interested.
Omg, it's finally here! I am super excited for this playthrough. They've done Kratos character well. I also LOVE Atreus. His curiosity with the world, the way he interacts with people, but mostly in what he represents, a second chance for Kratos to find his humanity. Atreus is everything to Kratos. I love them so much. I would recommend taking things slow and exploring everything since many things are easily missed or even optional. Definitely exhaust all the dialogue with Brok at his shop by pressing triangle. Some combat tips: when you throw the axe with R1, it is faster and goes further, while R2 is slower but does more damage. Damage the Revenant with an arrow, and then attack them. Spartan rage heals when you attack, so you can save it until you're low on health during a fight. Lastly, you can get everything in the skill tree, so you don't have to be too picky.
ive been subbed to Kali since her start of the God of War series seeing her emotions and how she is enjoying it as much as i have during my first time playing these games. Unlocking memories ive lost, its been amazing watching everything unfold.. i cant wait until the ending of DLC Ragnarok and the emotions she will have then because i know every time i hear that dialogue i cry because of how powerful it is and for his character to come full circle. Youre doing amazing Kali and thank you for helping me relive this series of storytelling again.
These 2 games together are one of my favorites and always love watching people play and react and get emotional. It means you feel it, you're connecting with the characters. I seen you just put out the 1st video for ragnarok, so i was excited to start from the beginning and see your reaction. I can't wait to see you finish ragnarok. i will be watching
Been waiting for this one! I learned this back when it came out, but the fact that all the cutscenes are done in one shot (no camera changes) is amazing.
I appreciate that you are willing to show emotion in the game, it shows that you are invested in the game, I saw it also in your playthrough of The Last of Us
Kali, I'm so excited for you to start these new games. I don't have much connection to the original games, but I loved these new ones. I've watched you since the middle of Mass Effect 2, and I love your ability to understand certain points of view that many others don't. I hope you love this game as much as I do. Edit: As a long time Stargate: SG1 fan Christopher Judge as Kratos was a big draw for me. He does a truly fantastic job.
Yes! Christopher Judge makes an amazing Kratos I think. The voice is deeper and raspier than earlier Kratos and somehow that is so fitting knowing this is 1000 years later!
This is the one I've been waiting for since you started this series. And like other have said, you have no need for the emotional reactions you have during the game. The funeral scene hits everyone in the feels to varying degrees.
Ma'am, I just want to say that I love EVERY aspect of your gameplay in this. The thorough playthrough (i.e. codex and etc.), your history with Kratos, the timing in the video, your relatableness, love for this game, and how you speak in the playthrough. 🥹🥹 It makes me so darn happy that you preciously enjoy this beautiful story of the Norse saga after the Greek era.
I JUST finished the others and caught up to here (was hospitalized for a few weeks with no phone), but haven't started the vid yet. I just want to acknowledge that seeing you play through the older games was phenomenal! Not only do I like that you focus on little details, that sometimes enlightens me, but you hold a lot of empathy, which many people lack. I see that it helps you understand characters better in these video games you play, and makes your responses very valuable. At least to me. Now, to watch your journey of Kratos' new journey
Kali, your entire God of War play through has been great! Looking forward to you seeing the growth of Kratos in these newer ones. Since you played the older titles, make sure to play the Valhalla DLC for Ragnarok.
Most of the girls go straight to up to play this game knowing nothing about Kratos, they just think: "Omg what a beautiful father/son game", but it´s more than that. In the finale of GoW 3 you said that you find it difficult to have sympathy for Kratos because he´s an antihero, and that´s the whole point of this gow 2018. Glad you gave it a chance to the previous games. Hope you enjoy this new journey.
YESSS, IT'S HERE! So hyped to tag along on your experience through these masterpieces! I was inspired to start another NG+ a couple days ago, and like you said when you noticed the region summary/checklist in the map, my brain won't let me leave anything unchecked even though this'll be like my third NG+ for this game and I already have all the OP gear, talismans, enchantments and whatnot, lol. Also, you did the right thing not buying anything at the shop, all of Kratos' best armor and most of the best enchantments and talismans are found out in the world. Enjoy!
I honestly love that the greek and norse god of war games have different tones, atmosphere, character personalities / art. It kinda matches well with the "real life" greek / nordic mythology in a way in terms of themes, gods, brutality and tragedies. For example the gods in greek myths are immortal / assholes whereas the gods in nordic myth are mroe human / mortal beings. 😀
Awesome! so it begins! Im happy you reached these games, they are amazing, awesome music, graphics and storylines , and the combat though different is pretty good as well. And you will enjoy this one much more that you know Kratos story! A work of art!
Over the past decade I lost my grandma and uncle, both wanted to be cremated and have their ashes spread at the southern most point of Florida in the Ocean because they came from Cuba and wanted to have their ashes returned to a close place to their former home. My dad and I made that Journey back to Miami twice to do this. So this opening hit me hard and got me emotional too. We are all human and we all have emotions. It’s not something to apologize for.
I'll admit I haven't watched your Ascension play through yet, but I have been WAITING for you to get to 2018 so I am jumping to this now, but I will watch Ascension soon. It's very cool that you played all the God of War games you could. I honestly wasn't that big a GoW fan when they were initially coming out and it wasn't until this game I was able to connect to the games and understand their appeal. So excited to see you go through this. This (and the sequel) are definitely two of my all time fav games. Have all the fun and let the emotions come cause they will. I hope you enjoy the experience.
We are finally here. The game that introduced me to the series. Ill do the usual and see if I got things to say/add, if not, Im simply gonna say i cannot wait, yet too fear the day we reach the end of this journey. Yes, The cold open from first and foremost the lovely transition straight from the menu screen, straight to the Death of another loved one for Kratos, though, like many things, we can tell this part of his life has become a lot better and healthier, even if still harsh and sad. While He killed his prior one, his wife here lived with him in peace clearly and Died peacefully, loved by him, and Kratos getting to "bury" the person he loved, getting a sense of closur from that. It is a sad yet in the same way happy reality he has reached, which makes it all the more incredible to see, that something like this can have such oppossing emotions to it. I love those small art closets? walls i guess. They are incredibly nice to look at, so much so that they used to be my background. Telling actual folklore. It is rare to have such things transcribed that way. Normally you would have someone tell it outright or some cutscene, but no, here we have it simply be some old art by someone else, you simply find. Ah yes, the Trolls. Literal, not figurative. Get used to these big guys. They are plentiful. The name is simply that and not entirely more descriptive. Not any Lore or story to him. The Strangers seems like a seriously odd sob. Wonder who he is? That much is sure, he is someone that must have a name, and certainly some story as to how the hell he ended up so resiliant and even more so, cocky. Humans went nuts, yes. There is reasons for it. Im baffled they stood up this well to Kratos. Gameplay and all I know, it is funny to think though that Kratos's actual god powers scale in universe as to whom he fights. would be a really cool concept if they went for it. never did, but hey, headcanon all the way. Draugr make for some funny enemies anyway, far more than Humans. Good old Norse Zombies. And unlike other zombies, these guys can use weapons and armor. After all, what fun are zombies if they cant swing weapons about? Brok and his brother... well thats all for now there. Lovely lads. They will help you plenty, both practically and emotionally with some well needed levity.
I played this game for maybe 12 hours and never finished it. I had a traumatic experience like 5 years ago that did something to my brain. It caused me to not enjoy playing video games as much and it really makes me sad at times because ive been playing since the first Nintendo and really could escape all my childhood trauma as a kid by getting so immersed into the worlds in video games. I used to be able to play games for like 14 hours straight but i can't do that anymore. I play a game every now and then but its got to be really good. I know this game was a masterpiece but i just couldn't find the same joy i once had playing the original trilogy. Ive tried watching other people play this game on here but for whatever reason i couldn't finish. I did watch all your other playthroughs of God of War and was waiting for this one so i could hopefully see the game in its entirety. I love your play style and how emotional and how big of a heart you have for characters and it takes me back to a time when i felt the same way.
It's been a long time since I have watched a God of War 2018 or Ragnarok playthrough. Can't wait for you to experience the entire story arch. It's a lot.
If you want to know what the reaction was like, this game was announced at E3 2016. It opened the Sony conference. It started with just an entire orchestra playing the theme of this game, though we did not know that yet. It was conducted by the one and only Bear McCreary. After the theme ended, the curtain rose and a screen was behind it. Some game footage started to play. It was just a boy. We still did not know what it was. Then we heard, “BOY!”. Immediately chatter started happening in the crowd. A large figure in the shadows talked to the boy. Then Kratos walked out of the shadow. The Crowd at E3 went INSANE. A gameplay showcase played and this game was officially announced. Again, the crowd went crazy. This reveal and announcement became one of the most memorable and iconic in the entire history of E3.
0:12 WOW almost every youtuber who decides to play this plays this one first than MAYBE goes back and plays 3 or the the older games in general you played EVERY old entry PRIOR to this you’re absolutely amazing kali? Seriously you earned a long time sub and fan off this alone
No need to apologize for getting emotional; this is one of the most intensely emotional games ever made. 11:47 I always tear up at this part. Bear McCreary was sadly named after the wrong animal because that man is the GOAT. I hear they recorded all of Kratos's "boy" lines before deciding on Atreus's name, so "boy" was just used as a placeholder. They decided to keep those lines because they emphasized Kratos's emotionally distant relationship with Atreus.
Yes! Amazing that you're playing this! This game is so GOATED that it actually won Game of the Year in 2018 against Red Dead Redemption 2, another masterpiece!
1:03:40 What I like about this game is that they did the face gestures very well. They are so expressive, even the small gestures of the face express and convey very well what the characters are feeling. It's a work of art. I'm glad you're loving it. It has changed a lot compared to the other games. All GOW games are wonderful!
YES when Kratos realized that Faye had him cut down that tree to break the shield and he just closed his eyes and you could * feel * his raw emotion. So good
@@kaliwali Exactly, another moment where you can feel the character, but not only by the expression on his face, but also by his body posture, like the small movement he makes back with his neck before saying ''come''. There are many details.
Hello. I love the way you play and how you understand those small details in the story. I want to give you some tips that can help you improve your way of playing even more. Using your shield is very important especially when it comes to projectiles. You can block any type of projectiles using your shield. It is also very important that you know that you can even block all kinds of rays, whether fire, ice, etc. Just by holding up your shield. You can also block absolutely all of Revenant's poison attacks by holding your shield up at all times and waiting for an opening to counterattack. (Atreus arrows and then you attack). And finally, when you fight a Troll I recommend that you always roll to the left as if making a circle around him and attack especially when you are behind him. Try to memorize their movements so you will know when to roll to the left side or when to move away. I almost forget it. One last tip. When it comes to puzzles, Odin's ravens or fast enemies, I always recommend using the light ax throw because the heavy ax throw is very slow and it will be much more difficult for you to hit your target or solve timed puzzles. I apologize for my English. I speak Spanish and I am using the translator. I am glad to be a new follower of yours as I can clearly see in your eyes that you are a wonderful person. Greetings from Peru.
Hi! Some tips the Game may not tell you, when you activate Spartan rage, it can be deactivated by pressing L3 R3 again. You can grab health even when you are fighting. Runic attacks will help you a lot in the fights, keep an eye on them. Remember always explore and the puzzles are awesome, Classic GOW😅
I'll miss the chains, but I gotta say the axe mechanic is really good, and throwing it and feeling it fly back in your hands at the push of a button never gets old
perfectly timed upload, just finished watching your god of war 3 play through this morning, watched some key moments from ascension and am very excited to watch your throughways of the new games
When this game came out there were split opinions (as with every reboot) and a lot of memes surrounding Kratos and Atreus, but no one had anything bad to say about him being voiced by Christopher Judge cause he's Teal'c. Everyone loves Teal'c.
Finally i Found worthy video to watch 😭 someone who actually knows everything about kratos and have good eyes to watch some details which actually very impactful for me personally. Thank You RU-vid for recommending this video and thank you too ma'am
Active the Spartan Rage can regenerate health in combat, put what heal Kratos in those cutscene wasn't his rage, it was his godhood. In case you didn't know Kratos here is 100% god.
Hello kali! Thank you for this. Been waiting for this one. Got a few more tips for ya... 1. Again take your time and explore. Note there's gonna be a lot of backtracking, nothing gets left out in this game, but of course sometimes, not all the time though you may need and item or power to do so, you'll see what i mean 😁 You kinda missed out on the last 2 toys from the set lol. The first one was at Kratos house at the side of the wooden gate and the second was kind of inside the old temple, right before you pulled the chain to open the gate there was a big ass Door behind you that leads out to the bridge. 2. Shield Combat: i see you're already getting the hang of the parrying system, but note that when you get a perfect parry, it leaves an opening to do follow up attacks on the enemy, if you don't do a perfect parry, it slows down and leaves you open for getting attack. When you see a yellow/gold circle around the enemy, they're about to do a heavy attack which you still have a chance to parry. If it Red, don't block just dodge or roll out of the way and wait for an opening. The red circle are stronger attacks and can't be blocked and they do a lot of damage. There's also a skill on skill tree that allows you to reflect enemy projectiles and attacks. Its pretty much similar to the golden fleece. 3. Yes Kali break the pots and vases. Come on! If God of War has taught you anything, Its to DESTROY EVERYTHING! 😁 cause it can give you hack silver, health and rage. And lastly....err i believe the kids name is BOY!! Get it right GIRL! 😁😂👍
Something I recommend for after the playthrough is to read the translated lyrics for the music in this game. Actually the same goes for the greek games, it's very interesting
Hi Kali. I've been travelling across Europe for a while so I couldn't catch up with your older GoW videos, but I'll try to watch all your videos on the modern ones :)
It only took the first 20 minutes of this video (and the menu deep-dive) for me to already know that this is going to be my new favorite playthrough of this game on RU-vid. The rest of the video confirmed it 😁Keep it up!
Nice to see how far you've come kali! I may have not liked this game as much especially after playing the flawless combat perfection that is God of war 3 but this is still good.
The other God of War games were great, but God of War 2018 is, in my opinion, one of the greatest games ever made. Definitely on my Mt Rushmore of Games.
While we did get a cliff hanger at the end of 3, I don’t think we were ever given confirmation this game was even going to happen until the announcement the year/months prior to its release. Also the perspective from players who do or don’t play the original series is night and day and I love your understanding of the story so far
This was an amazing playthrough. Typically, I'd come across new playthroughs where creators have no prior knowledge of the previous games, but seeing that you've recently played them beforehand has made me appreciate your reaction so much more. In addition, you have great game sense. You thoroughly examine areas to ensure you didn't miss things, which is great. Keep up the good work. If you need any tips feel free to ask.
This game and Ragnarok were so well made, there's a reason they won so many awards. Little hints...1. Throw your Axe more 2. Take your time and look everywhere in every direction and 3. Look for yellow markings on some of the giant enemies, those are throw points for your Axe. Keep going!
Kratos in GOD 4 is responsible, mature, sensitive, emotional and stronger than ever. People might say or think that old kratos was stronger but the truth is he is now. He uses his head and heart now that's why it looks like he is weaker now but it's better now and i am happy that he has a family now, at least he has his son. By the way I liked your play through a lot. Generally girls play games without giving much attention and during play time they don't use much of the skill even if they upgraded but you did it right and I find your name unique. In our side your name resembles row power and time itself which is the name of goddess Kali. Happy playing 😊
When you said “his chains are gone” I had to take a deep breath and compose myself. I grew my beard because of this game and because of that my friend calls me “the black Kratos”. And I wonder is he’s played other games.
Enemey attacks that shows a yellow ring can be reflected at the right time with L1, only the ones with red ring should be evaded (double x is rolling)🤓
Nice reaction can see you have a lot of appreciation for the story in god of war, this one is the beginning of what i would say is the 2 best written games of the franchise. Enjoyed your reaction and your commentary you have a new subscriber.
When Atreus say after the fight with the strange that they're nobodies, he meant that they're nothing special just a normal father and son duo, he have no idea that Kratos is a god he think they are both mortals.
I’ve played through this 3 times played gow 1-3 ascension but I didn’t realize he used his rage to heal himself (I always figured it was just a godly power of his that we didn’t really get to see in the prior games). I think you’re pretty spot on it does look like he used his rage as a healing factor very interesting catch!
"Apparently, Odin has beef with us?" That's the obvious inference, and no doubt what Kratos must have been thinking. We don't have enough info this early in the game to understand the context of the Stranger's arrival. But keep it in mind.
Oh kali i forgot, those revenants, witch like enemies... They are really annoying, so what you wanna do is when they turn into that poison cloud , shoot them with the arrows first and then start punching them to build up stun damage and do damage at the same time. Also you might press R3 to lock on to an enemy to make it easier lol. Just be careful not press both L3 and R3 by mistake cause it'll activate Spartan Rage when you don't want to. Believe me that's happen to me many times.😑 The revenants are like the wraiths from the previous games.
