HEAVENBREAKER IS BEING MISMARKETED!!! I love this book and want it to find its proper audience. It is NOT a romantasy. It is a political sci-fi revenge story with /some/ romance but a much stronger emphasis on building connections and trusting yourself. IT IS NOT A ROMANTASY. PLEASE. ITS NOT. IVE READ IT TWICE. If it has ANY fantasy elements they are twisted in science fiction. I LOVE this book. I love it SO MUCH. And I think you'd really like it too if you go into it with the right expectations! I'm really glad you read the summary and I hope this book finds it audience.
Good to find someone else who enjoyed it. I was surprised how lowkey the romance subplot was because the publisher, Entanged: Red Towers, describes themselves as "bringing you the best in romantasy." Of course, it is the start of a series so maybe that balance will change in later books. Either way, I enjoyed it as is and hope the next book comes out next year.
You're so right! Those are all the reasons I bought it. I don't read fantasy, but love sci-fi and saw the pic on the thumbnail. Do you have any recs similar?
@@leafsonata Oh!! I would absolutely recommend Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao. It also has complicated mech work, tangled relationships, and lots of twists.
@@mikouf9691 My personal theory is that an agent at Red Tower saw it and LOVED IT so much that they convinced Red Tower to take it on even though it doesn't quite fit, because they thought it'd do well and was really cool. The idea of it being someone's favourite project at Red Tower makes me happy.
I loved The Jasad Heir, but I do warn it is a slower burn. There's plenty of banter, but any actual romantic antics don't happen until MUCH later in the book. It definitely focuses more on the fantasy and plot, and a little less on the romance.
Thank you so much, I hadn't heard of Heavenbreaker before! 🤩 I really liked Xiran Jay Zhao's Iron Widow and sounds like Heavenbreaker would tide me over 'till Heavenly Tyrant is out! 😄
I'm at the halfway point in When the Moon Hatched. This is the most unique book I've read in the romantasy realm. So many original things going on.....a breath of fresh air to have the same old trope done again and again. Slow burn romance for sure but in the best way!
I read the One dark window duology, the Kingdom of the wicked trilogy, and Throne of the fallen earlier this year, and they were all very enjoyable. But my favorite by far was Throne of the fallen. I think Kerri Maniscalco's writing evolves as she goes on, and I'm really looking forward to the second book in the Prince of sin series, coming out later this year called Throne of secrets. I also have the Scarlet veil to read. I'm excited about that one, and I'm excited to hear your thoughts on all of these books.
I just finished Running Close to the Wind by Alexandra Rowland, a queer polyamorous pirate fantasy rom-com, heavy on the comedy. Excellent if the sense of humor works for you. If you’re not into comedy, Rowland also wrote A Taste of Iron and Gold, another queer romantasy focused on yearning over laughs.
🐍🐍🐍 So many of these books are on my TBR too! If you haven't read Heartless Hunter yet, also highly recommend!! When the Moon Hatched is one of favorite books of the year! 🎉
I highly recommend The Savior's Champion by Jenna Moreci. It's like The Bachelor meets Gladiator, with forbidden romance, political intrigue, magic, and so much more. It's REALLY good. The first two books in the series are currently out, and Jenna has just finished writing the third; it should be out by early 2025.
t. kingfisher has a series the first is called paladins grace and it's adorable The series follows a group of knights who their God was murdered and each book has them falling for a different person obviously and trying to solve the murder of like their God and other things going on in the city.
I am trying to read Flame and Sparrow. I’ve picked it up and put it down like 5 times because of the slow start and I’m only at 8%!! But if you guys say it’s worth it , I will push on.
@@sak08002 yeah the start was rough, I ended up giving it a 4 star, cause I loved the final half so much! but the start took me a long time to get through
