Carnival Cruise Line launched the new Carnival Firenze ship for its inaugural season out of Southern California and with a new ship comes new cruise food. In this Carnival Firenze food review, I'll take a dive into all of the options on board from what's included on the Carnival Firenze to what is an extra fee to enjoy.
Plus, I will compare what I found on the Firenze to what my experience was like with food on the Carnival Venezia, a sister ship to the Firenze that was also repurposed for the American cruise market by Carnival, which makes the Venezia and Firenze near identical siblings. However, there are a few key differences that are worth pointing out when it comes to dining.

The change in Long Beach from emphasizing either 3 and 4 night or 7 night itineraries to those of 5 and 6 nights has me puzzled. It was formerly easy to differentiate the "booze" cruisers to "family" ones, but now the whole Mexican Riviera experience is turned on its head. Likewise shore excursions based primarily out of Cabo do not compare well to those at Mazatlan or Puerto Vallarta. I am scratching my head when deciding which type of cruise carries the greatest value, especially now that Panorama is cast zanily into the mix of both newer and older ships. I wonder how Carnival came up with this cockeyed formula, and why. Of course I can easily book out of LA or San Diego on other lines, but I prefer Carnival.
