Nico, since you skipped Aerith singing at the end of Loveless for the dates, you missed some little interactions with your date during the performance (Yuffie is especially funny). Barret also cries after seeing Jessie and asks Cloud to clap for both of them. You can just watch the video in case you're interested. 🙂

Btw Nico, there are actually short scenes during Aerith’s song with each of your date partners, cheering her on behind the scenes! It goes like Aerith: you got this one already, Cloud catches a petal and holds it to his chest Tifa: she encourages Aerith and later in the song, Cloud and Tifa hold hands and smile Yuffie: she teases Aerith about stealing her spotlight and lipsyncs the song and starts dancing. She almost dances into the stage where Aerith is singing but Cloud reels her in and looks like he’s going to scold her lol Barret: Barret cheers her on and he later puts his arm around Cloud and starts swaying to the music. Cloud looks annoyed at first and then starts swaying with him Red: Red wags his tail and it makes the shape of a heart. Later in the song, Cloud bends down and pets him Cait Sith: I forgot but I might edit this later lol Anyways, lots of really cute interactions that I would recommend seeing if you can find a video of it bc they’re all so cute ❤ Also, bonus thing that I noticed: Yuffie talks about Tifa having a crush on Cloud in her date and this reminded me of earlier in the game on the cargo ship. Aerith was going to talk about boys with Tifa but then Cloud comes in and they agree to talk about it later. To me, this suggests that when Yuffie joined the team, all three of them had a boys talk together which is why Yuffie knows about Tifa and Cloud and why in gongaga, Tifa seemed to know about Zack. Ngl I wish we got to see this scene but the implication that it happened is really cute to me and it’s nice to know that the party members are also bonding offscreen

Just to clarify something, the reason you didn’t have 100% Bonding with Tifa is because with the Giant Condor quest, you gave the bird monster meat instead of bovine meat, which made the quest not perfected completely.

Yuffie's date mentioning her interaction with Zack in Crisis Core and then Cloud acting the same way is so wholesome. You would NEVER get this kind of date with OG Yuffie.

None of the dates are considered more canon than the others but they all represent where Cloud's relationship with each character would be during this moment in the story, so in a way they all fit in well. If you want to know who gets the most possible points automatically, confirmed by the devs it's actually Barret, not Aerith.

I love when you watch Aerith sing with Tifa, just before she starts, Tifa whispers to her "You've got this!" I thought that bit was super cute

I especially love how in the Loveless plays, when the girls spin into Cloud's arms, each one is different. Cloud lets Aerith spin herself like the princess she is (like how he gently moves her hand in a more comfortable/intimate position in the gondola) Yuffie makes like a merry go round and spins till she wants to vomit and Cloud lets her (like how he plays along with her game in the gondola) Cloud pulls Tifa and she kinda falls into the spin because he knows she won't go for the extra dazzle, so he makes the first move (kissy kissy). It's a small difference, but much like the dates, I like how they each portray Cloud's relationship with each of them. There's also slight differences during Aerith's song with each date option: Cloud catches a petal when you choose Aerith Yuffie dances/lipsyncs along, almost wandering on stage until Cloud stops her Tifa encourages Aerith, and Tifa and Cloud hold hands Barret tears up and he and Cloud put an arm around each other and swing along Red makes hearts (like in the play) and Cloud kneels to give him pats Cait Sith tries to cheer via his megaphone when Cloud stops him; he and Cid also cry

I got Red's date for chapter 12 and as it was playing out I had a hard time figuring out why it was making me tear up. Until the end on the ferris wheel I realized: "oh, he reminds me of my younger brother". I didn't expect for his date to hit that close and personal with me and it makes me glad that Red was the first one I saw.

The 2 of the standard conclusions have slightly different dialog: (After: *Barret:* Yeah, well..the lesson here is once you find you soulmate, you never let 'em go.) *Barret:* Although, seeing as you're stuck ridin' this thing with me, I'm thinkin' ya prob'ly already did. *Cloud:* Hey, _you_ invited _me._ *Barret:* Right! 'Cause I learned to make the first move... which is exactly what you gotta do. *Cloud:* Duly noted. (After: *Yuffie:* Say something!) *Cloud:* "Something." *Yuffie:* Are you kidding me!? I do something nice for you and that's what I get!? *Yuffie:* You lousy jerk!

The first time I played through the Loveless date, I assumed the song Aerith sang was a finalle to the play. It wasn’t until I replayed all the dates that I realized that she composed the song herself, (it’s the poem she was working on in the hotel lobby that Cait was eyeing), and entered it into a song completion the Saucer was holding. That’s why she was excited that her submission won, and why they asked her if she wanted to sing the song herself. Which really makes the song hit harder when you realize the lyrics are actually her feelings about her situation and fate being expressed. Also, if you play through the dates instead of skipping the scenes, then depending on who your date is, you get different little scenes during her song as they all react to her words from backstage or out in the audience.

EDITED AGAIN You missed a lot small things by skipping the Loveless scenes, some of which are pretty important; for example, for Tifa, during Aerith's song, her and Cloud hold hands towards the end, or Tifa's reaction to "Jessies" performance. There's also the aftermath. I highly recommend re-watching these on RU-vid or something. It's sad how so many people seem to miss this, but I think the date with Cloud and Tifa was made to feel the most awkward and stilted on purpose, right up until Cloud worked up the courage to be more imitate towards the end. Since they're both so shy their true feelings for each other, you kinda have to focus on the subtle changes in their expressions and their body language to understand what they're feeling. For example, while Tifa's paying attention to the fireworks saying how beautiful they are, Cloud is just staring at Tifa; I'm pretty sure I can guess his line of thinking here =) You can also see how Cloud stumbles slightly after getting off the Gondola, clearly caught between playing it cool and being in shock at what just happened XD

Something that I actually love about the game is after you beat Reds Trail in Cosmo Canyon Barret only ever refers to him as Nanaki. I find that as a nice little thing since it is his real name, though to be fair I don't think anyone ever refers to Red by name from that point on besides Barret. Makes me curious if they will have everyone refer to him as Nanaki in Part 3 and even change his name from Red XIII to Nanaki, that would be a nice touch.

You actually skipped a nice scene of Cloud and Tifa during Aerith’s song,

We went Hot and Heavy with Tifa, a cute moment with Yuffie and had a serious talk with Red and Barret

We waited almost 20 years to see cloud and tifa kiss. And square enix delivered!

While I understand where you are coming from with Aerith’s Golden Saucer date feeling somewhat canon with their conversation of Aerith trying to find the real Cloud, Tifa’s Golden Saucer date was everything I was hoping for! After 27 years, we finally got to Cloud and Tifa kissing for the first time and FF7 Rebirth delivered! Tifa’s date was perfect for me and while the other dates are great in their own ways, this one is still my personal favorite and feels canon given Cloud only kisses Tifa out of all of the dates. Even if the date itself might not be canon, Cloud and Tifa’s feelings for each other are canon and I’m so happy to finally convey them to each other!

As a Cloti fan I feel extremely happy! I had the biggest grin on my face when I realised what was happening! But I also like how tactfully Rebirth handled the Yuffie and Cloud skywheel date. They're real cute besties!

The only thing you missed from Tifa' date is what is said after the play. Tifa: "Wow! that was amazing! I can't wait to start bragging! I'm friends with a famous Singer!" Cloud: "Well... maybe next time, you can take the stage!" Tifa: *giggles* Love these two.

Here's a little detail that you might've missed and will probably make you a little sad. If you get "Others" for Loveless, then Cid comments after Jessie's performance: "Mark my words, she's goin' places."

And this is why Tifa's date is the superior one because something meaningful actually happen that is wanted by both parties. Jokes aside, I love how each of the ferris wheel dates have such different vibes depending on the character. It makes them all stand out in their own way, it's great.

Why did you skip through Aerith song during Yuffie and Tifa's Loveless section? It would have been worth watching - much better than the JUST Aerith one since they're all on stage. Yuffie is a cute one with her mimicking Aerith singing and Tifa's one Cloud and her touch and then hold hands romantically.

You know what would have been funny but also heartbreaking? Once you get all the date options they decided to pull a Persona on us and have a Valentine’s Day consequence for going on a date with all the characters.

My one big complaint with trying to see all the date scenes is that they were SO close to getting the skip points right...but didn't quite get there. You miss little interactions with each companion after the initial part of the play with Jessie if you skip over that cinematic, and also skip the entirety of Aerith's song (which has a few unique beats with your date) as well as a small scene of you leaving the theater with your date if you skip the final fight sequence of the play. This was an issue I had in other parts of the game as well if you try to use the skip function, where it skips over MULTIPLE scenes if you select the skip option and not just the very next scene (I actually missed the whole ending sequence of the Nibelheim reactor in the flashback sequence because of this on my intial playthrough). It's the biggest pet peeve I have with the whole game honestly. The skip function is SOOOOO close to being really useful but a few small decisions like this fuck it up. I recommend pulling up a video and watching those few small interactions as some are very cute but doesn't need to be recorded or anything as they aren't super important.

Every date has their character’s theme play as you move around the hotel and theater, then it plays a mashup of the character theme and the Saucer’s theme everywhere else in the Saucer.

Been waiting for this episode a lot, worth the wait, as usual, Barret is my favorite, he's by all means the dad of the group.

I do feel like Cloud and Tifa is likely the "canon ship" (at least in advent children timeline) but Aerith and Cloud date is probably the "most canon golden saucer date" yeah.

I love that all the dates are really accurate and fitting to all the characters. ^_^ Right, it is not canon who you got for the date/who is the right partner for the date, but it is canon how the characters behave/react during the date and that she/he/they would do/say those things to Cloud, if she/he/they had been chosen for this date (when the affection level is right). I really love the outcome of all these dates (but if I feel sorry for Cait Sith), because these event scenes and conversation with this chosen person has with Cloud are totally in character and I love that. While Cloud´s date with the boys is more of a deeper friendship than romantic, it is different with the girls. It is more intimate for the girls and it is more implied that Cloud still has romantic feelings for Tifa (she is his childhood crush/love interest after all), also she loves him, too and therefore the kiss in the end of their date, but it is more of a platonic love/deep friendship with Aerith and Yuffie, because they both have feelings for Zack and Cloud knows this, so he reacted this way/like that. ;-) It is cool that every girl reacted different for the date (Tifa is shy and shares a mutual bond/love with Cloud, Aerith is bold and daring and Yuffie is childish and a Tsundere), but in the end they had some great/intimate moments with Cloud and that is so sweet and cute. ^^

If you listen very closely you can hear the collective screams of joy from every single ff7 fan at 36:10

Nico if you pick barrett for the play for your lover the final play stage becomes alot harder. Just have to pick your love and not garm and then varvados and it will be a star difficulty.

1:12:20 Aerith date is consistent with the story some people got Tifa’s date and the High affection response in the dream date where Cloud wants to go on more dates with Aerith which is weird character wise. I wonder if they will do these scenes in the third part since they also did them in Remake and in OG during Midgar those scenes where non existent.

If you're searching for another LP I would recommand either Super Paper Mario if you're looking for something short (and a good story) And if you want to try out another Zelda, I would recommened Skyward Sword (Or Twillight Princess, even if its semi-blind)

You still need to get at least I think S rank in the play with each girl for an achivement. Plus, by skipping you are missing little bits when Aerith is singing and the members of the play show their support for her, it depends on who you choose for the date.

Also…. Seeing the Aerith vs Tifa fans at that moment was something else . Squeals for both parties yes… but depending on your perspective there was a lot of mad aerith fans afterwards 😂

The way i have always seen it, is that all the date scenes are canon. Like they all reasonably could happen. They made it so there wouldnt be any direct conflict. I was surprised there was no kiss with Aerith though after i got Tifa. But i suppose with my theory it makes it so it doesnt feel like Cloud is two-timing anyone 😂

i heard max talk about how cute the Yuffie Skywheel scene was, i was not ready for that, insanely adorable and wholesome. they went ham on her animations and behavior for it, she's just so cute! that was sweet. i know its a small thing but i like after the Jessie performance, Tifa's really broken up about it, seeing Jessie again. i wonder what the others say about it since it looks like you skipped over those parts

To answer your question, on how canon any of the dates are: They're all completely optional, aren't really mentioned again or called back to in the story, and mostly noncanon. With the exception of Cloud's and Aerith's handholding as you saw right after defeating Sephiroth, that feels very much like a callback to their date. Just cute little fanservice for the fans who's been with the series for so long. Funnily enough, Aerith's date is the most faithful to the OG compared to everyone else's. I... actually have mixed feelings about Tifa's date, and this is coming from a fan of Tifa. The quest in Nibelheim that you can do right before heading to the Gold Saucer the second time is what's causing a part of that. Where Tifa and Cloud realize they weren't as close as they were in their childhood with the former thinking Cloud LIKED being alone. And then in the high affinity date, they kiss despite that all. Again, I place it as fanservice for fans, but it does feel out of place personally after doing that quest. I really like the hug though! I feel like both of them really needed that after everything they went through! I'm happy for the Tifa fans that enjoy her date, I just think it could've been better narrative wise. P.S. Red is best boy.

Is it just me or in the date with Yuffie, when she says "he was just playing along for a dumb kid." Cloud closes his eyes and slightly nods as if agreeing with the dumb kid statement?

Even though I play videogames, I must admit that I am not very good. When it comes to platforming and combat that requires blocking and parrying to survive and win, I tend to fail a lot. In games like Persona, I tend to underestimate the importance of status effects. I bring this up because, even in normal mode with this game I definitely relied more on synergy skills to win battles then you did. I also never realized that the description of enemies gave you the strategy for defeating enemies...instead relying on the weakness that was sometimes provided. It was only by watching your videos that I realized I was doing things wrong. Fun Fact: I actually used the tournament battles to level up. Because you keep the experience you earn when you reload after dying, I managed to level myself up enough to beat tournaments that needed a higher level.

I don't know if you saw it with Yuffie but the only change with the first "date" is everyone's reaction to Jessie's Loveless poster. I think they're pretty sweet scenes and you could just watch a compilation video of them on your own time if you want.
