I really like the fact that you don't use botox - it is so refreshing to see a beautiful woman over 40 who still has an animated, expressive face! So many over 40 content creators - at least in the fashion/beauty sphere - have had botox and, their faces, while still attractive, have a mask-like aspect. You get so used to seeing it that you think it's normal until you see someone that can still show a full range of emotions on her face and you realize what has been missing. It's like going from black-and-white to color! (Not to say that it's my or anyone else's business whether or not you get botox - of course it's your face to do with as you like and I'm sure you'd be beautiful either way!)
First, i LOVE your irreverent style of conversation. My kind of girl! Skin care and self care is one of the loving things I do for myself and I like that we seem to have a similar vibe. I'm inching towards mid 60's and between genetics (which most influences don't account for.. Just saying.. ) and a lifetime of self care has provided me with a pretty good visage for the world. I use castor oil, Elf, Ordinary products and a couple of TJ's products, as well as a mishmash of Korean skin care. Like you, I love a moisturized face, and feel icky without it. Makeup is simple and elegant ( French girl or just lazy..), use nighttime to slather on the layers of product with abandon ! Pillow cases and sheets wash up fine. Am I old? I see it as a perception game. As you are 47 and being a "public" person on RU-vid, you get to play with presenting your POV to the larger world. I agree that skincare can be simple and cheap, we all are marketed to endlessly and choosing how we spend on self care is part of how we express ourselves in the world. Enjoy your Right Now! Have Fun!
I got into skin care very late (about 5 years ago at 50!). I was lucky and had good skin and almost no wrinkles. Nowadays the dreaded turkey neck is my biggest problem by far, especially as I'm losing weight! Jowls are also starting to show but I don't think there's much I can do about those. 😢 I just don't have the budget to spend big money on products, so Neutrogena, The Ordinary and Cerave are my favourites! I'm slowly trying some Korean skin care products (I found a good online source for Europe) because that Some By Mi toner is amazing! Castor oil on my face and neck every night, and castor oil with a bit of jojoba oil and argan oil on my body after a nighttime shower. If I shower in the morning instead, I'll use argan + jojoba oils on the body. They soak in faster than castor oil and leave a nice sheen on my skin! I too decant my oils in small 100ml brown glass bottles and leave the big bottles in the fridge! I carry a 50ml green glass bottle with a glass dropper filled with jojoba, argan, peppermint and rosemary oils in my bag; I use a few drops after each hand wash or when my hands feel dry. My hands and especially my nails have never looked better!
I really want to say that there IS something you can do for the jowls, WITHOUT surgery! I have been doing face yoga( google it and there are a plethora of tutorials) for over a year and my face looks Alamo as young as when I was in my 30s and I’m now almost 50.
Diana, you are a joy to spend time with. I love your channel. You lift my spirits and make me smile. Thank you for sharing your approach to style and self-care. Your influence has helped me unblah myself. People in my close circle are pleased to see me making an effort 😅
I adore you and appreciate your humorous content. I tried argeriline for a couple of days without any expectations and no noticeable results. Fine-I was committed for at least a2month trial. On a whim I applied Frownies over the argeriline, again with no expectations, because how much can a bottle of juice and face stickers do for some aggressive 11's? One night is all, amazing results in the morning. Im down to a mere shallow 1! It def wears off after a long day but one night and im back to less than an angry glare 24/7. I cant wait to combine matrixyl. Thanks for turning me on to argeriline🎉
The amount of moisturiser you apply is about the amount of SPF one needs to apply! 😃 The way to measure the amount is to apply a line of the suncream to your middle and pointer fingers. That is the correct amount for you, to do your face and neck 😊
I added a vitamin C serum after 50. My skin needed smoothing out and the C serum seems to help. I say if your routine works, stick with it. But after 50 my skin changed and I had to change up my routine and find what worked at that time.
That's so funny that you bring that up because I edited out a part about vitamin c serum because I didn't love the one was using and I didn't want to accidentally promote it. I love a good vitamin C serum! Thanks for bringing it up.
I like the one I use but what works for me may not work for anyone else. I know, not two skin types are the same and needs are different. My vitamin C serum is by No. 7. It's not expensive but I get better results from this one as opposed to my way more expensive 😮 one.
I used to put Vaseline on my lips every time I brushed my teeth and when I thought about doing it, which was often. But I still had a dry patch of skin on the same spot on my lower lip. Then I saw this dermatologist on RU-vid and she said in her video that she uses a lanolin nipple cream. I thought she was nuts but if you think about it, the skin is similar in both places. So I got it and that's all I use now for my lips in my skincare routine. Dry patch is long gone and I'll always use the lanolin cream. It's cheap, even the best ones, and does the job. My lips are smooth and hydrated. I know it's kind of odd but hey, don't knock it till you've tried it. 😊
If you mix your Argireline with The Ordinary's Matrixyl 10% + HA (also inexpensive), it will work even better to relax that eyebrow. I love my skin care too! I'm 69 and my skin is holding up very well (all except for some age spots that I can't seem to get rid of.) I LOVE castor oil too! Guess what? If you put it on your heels at night, you'll wake up with baby heels! Love your videos!
I too do the argiriline as I also have 1 crazy eyebrow… Im 61, & I did try Botox at 57, for that crazy eyebrow & the one sided forehead wrinkling above that eyebrow it was causing. The Botox revealed the WHY of the crazy eyebrow which was an insufficiency of an eyelid muscle of that eye, for which the eyebrow was compensating. Holding the very slightly dropped eyelid up! So when the Botox relaxed the forehead & brow it caused an absolutely horrendous ptôsis (eyelid droop) which had to be repaired by an ocular plastic surgeon… the Botox lasted more than 12 months too so it’s a myth that it disappears quickly! The eyelid repair was costly ($AU3000.00 😵💫) but it had to be done because I couldn’t see properly out of that eye! Be wary of crazy things🧐🤨😍 I too slather on the castor oil with absolutely gay abandon… I’ve never in my life had complements from strangers about my skin, but I do now! The tretinoin castor oil nightly routine I have followed since 2021 has been a total game changer for my aging skin! 😍🫶🏽
I developed rosacea two years ago, and at 45, I'm still trying to find a routine that works to control it! I do enjoy the luxurious feeling of CeraVe's hydrating cleanser, though. That's my favorite part of my bedtime routine.
I love it that you use Trader Joe’s products! I do too and I really like them! Also, your skin is absolutely gorgeous and I am surprised to hear that you are 57! You look wonderful! Keep up the great videos! I learn so much from you! Thank you!
So helpful! And, you are adorably funny too. I am 69 and felt like I could say that without offending you. I meant it in the nicest way possible. Keep advising!
I used to buy Enrich from TJ but I moved to an area where there is no TJ 😢 Edit: For those of us without a TJ, Aldi has H20, a gel moisturizer that is comparable to Clinique or Neutrogena and extremely affordable.
Diana, you are so cool! I wonder if you have ever checked out ( peaches skincare here on RU-vid)? Lisa is the owner of 3 holistic skincare spas 2 in California. She is a no procedure, go gray kind of gal … just thought you might like some of that footage she shares. Have a great day! Thx for all you do here in this space! ❤Elle
So many products 😮! It's a bit overwhelming, but your skin looks healthy! I think I need to check out Trader Joe's! I have only gotten food there, now I know to check out a beauty section!❤
you look great! we are same age and your skin looks fresh and vibrant. that TJ moisturizer you let sit on a bit really seemed to even your skin out. i’m struggling going from oily to dry skin (thanks early menopause) and some erratic pigmentation …. i don’t feel like i get enough moisture. i have tried so many things and sometimes it pills, or breaks me out. i prefer simple products, even tho i’m mostly wearing korean skincare, i think i’m going to try that TJ one sometime. looking forward to your makeup video! ☺️
Thank you! Did you watch the video on castor oil? If you have trouble with dryness check this out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bt9ee4vNal8.htmlsi=yhLE5MseWwK07yQe
I love videos like this, and especially, I like hearing about sunscreens! Does the Trader Joe's moisturizing gel have a scent? Once I turned 40, my ability to tolerate fragrance and scent dropped to zero.
Thanks for sharing what inquiring minds want to know. ☺️ I also decant castor oil and I put some into a re-purposed glass dropper bottle (with glass dropper), and it’s not perfect. Castor oil is so thick it does not cooperate and easily upload into the dropper. A regular glass bottle sans dropper will be next. Love this stuff. Ta ta, off to get a putty knife to apply moisturizer to my face. Perhaps that will finally make the dry patches happy! 😉🥰
I agree with the glass bottle and glass dropper! Diana, Incorporate that! Get a nice cobalt blue bottle with glass dropper- beautiful and washable! It will never left you down!
I love the effect from castor oil unfortunately my eyes get really allergic to it and I make sure not to get close to my eyes at all but still every time I put it on my eyes hurt so bad and are super red. Too bad because I really can tell that it would help me tremendously
I’m turning 69 in a few days (!?). I noticed, a couple of years ago, crows feet (not too bad) and a wrinkled neck (that seriously bothered me). I found a pair of products that really make a difference: No7 Restore and Renew Face and Neck Multiaction creams. Nighttime, and Daytime, which has 30SPF. I get the 1.69 oz jars, which last a long time.
My skin was ok till long term high dose prednisone. It's a synthetic hormone caused weight gain in face and neck and now my skin looks like it's melting off my face like one of those gross dogs. Wouldn't be so bad had it not happened so dang fast and i had time to adjust to what I was seeing. I'd get a face lift in a heartbeat if only I could afford it
Aw I'm sorry! Fast changes are difficult! I always thought that if I had a very fast change to my face I would get one of those haircuts where my hair really comes forward into my face and I would concentrate on my hair care instead. I don't know if that would work for you but that's always been an idea for myself.
