This is a rundown of every hit song present on the MuchMusic Countdown in 2014. Let's bring some Canadiana to nostalgia playlists! These have been my pet projects for a while because I'm a bit obsessed with old-school MuchMusic/can-con in general.
I wondered what the point where I stopped feeling nostalgia towards these songs would be and looks like it's 2014. Everything feels a bit samey, with a few shots of originality like Hozier and Tove Lo in there. We do have Ariana Grande, Sam Smith and Shawn Mendes breaking out. Pharrell's "Happy" is absolutely everywhere all year. EDM and indie rock are starting their mainstream decline. In Canada, we see Arkells hit the countdown for the first time, Arcade Fire release "Reflektor", as well as Chromeo and Magic!'s international success.
