Parents said that once you crack MBBS your life will be set .... I wish someone would have told me about PG and how hard it is . The seats are so less and the compitition is even harder

Like see every year there are 1.5-1.7 million students who wants to get into med school, we have like 87000 MBBS seats in all of india (520/540 i dont remember the exact number, medical colleges in india half are private and half are govt), total govt seats are around 41000. Now 1.5 million students want 41000 seats how do you give it to all, well the answer is you dont. You only give the 41000 students the seat and the rest can still join a private college. NEET isnt even like a remembering exam you have to understand the concept to be able to solve the question, if you cant do that for these 96 chapters how will you be able to cope up with the vast medical syllabus.

Neet is a exam for mugging up things those 96 chapters r for mugging not for knowledge. In med school it's just not about mugging up there r practicals. A doc shd also know abt practical things otherwise it's a waste so being judged on an exam is stupid we shd only be judged on other activities
I’m a medical student from Karnataka . Can totally relate to all your points. We had literally useless and outdated experiments in out physiology lab. Most professors are not really interested in teaching . They just read out the slides. I think just getting an MD/MS doesn’t make you a good teacher. Communication skills, passion, creativity and interest also matters .
This happens almost everywhere. I'm a computer science student and the things that University decides as "syllabus" has most probably been put into history books for good.
I feel like NEET PG is an even worse criteria than the medical entrance. It's such a major part of deciding your career and I'm sure there's a more efficient way to arrange it.

This is so true!! We are expected to know everything even when we aren't trained in a particular way! All said and done, it is still the best field, and would choose it over anything, any day!
Omg, this was absolutely spot on 😂 especially the part about learning about our practicals and stuff, not a day goes by without our seniors teasing us about how we’re probably never gonna be able to differentiate between an ECG and an EEG 😂😂😂😂 another thing I would say that could be changed is how expensive medical books are 😔😔😔😩😩😩 (or is that just me🌝) but as usual, loved the video doc! ❤️
12:17 yes, that's true some teachers are just annoying they keep asking questions regarding the topic that they haven't taught, and they themselves say, that they will teach in upcoming classes, those classes were boring and I used to take all those questions as my notes.

That pharma thing of making powder and all is most probably past ..they have revised the syllabus 🤗 they have become more clinical oriented .. Infact Microbiology took to a new level we now don't have to mug up bacetrias and then diseases we read about the diseases mainly then its causative agent ...

I absolutely love medicine infact i scored 350 in bio in my first attempt but i was not interested in chem and phy since my base was very poor due to lack of infrastructure in my school so i didn't got into med.. Now have to do those subs despite of not having interest..
@Med Veda yea am preparing for the 2nd attempt but surely this covid situation is dipping my energy level bit by bit. I think dropping a year is extremely excruciating becz in your head there's always a feeling of guilt of not getting it in the first place as well as carrying that guilt for life long if i don't make it in the second time.. My family is falling apart due to financial crisis.. With endless arguments and quarrels in my home sometimes i don't feel okay but can't help myself to get out of it.. I don't have any friends just becz i don't have time to waste with them.. Buy these videos really gives me hope of improving myself and my situation one day..

They are changing the approach to medicine in the newer batches . My batch didn't make drugs , we just learnt the composition of some drugs . The newer batch will have a completely different syllabus
Im watching the video rn and i have to pause to agree already! I absolutely hate how i as pre med was never given the exposure to what exam i was preparing myself for and what life i was gonna lead if or not i clear the exam! I also totally hate that there are absolutely no interviews for admissions into medical colleges Like COME ON That is so important part to know the personality of a student and decide if or not he should be somewhere or not! Another reason Im more inclined towards AFMC is that they look at the overall personality of candidate and whether or not he/she has taken up any volunteer works or have some hobbies or passions, It may seem irrelevant but they really adds up on how different students look at different situations and encourages them to gain some experience too rather than just drowning themselves in MCQs! Thats a plus for MCAT, the interviews and also how the questions asked in exam are not just about memorization but trains students to think about a situation logically early in their life so they can get used to it.
hmm even for engineering it has become similar except we chose our colleges and branches at 17 - like there are folks who are chosing chemical engineering just because it is from a good college . And there are also people who are forced to take admission in low ranking universities to get the branch of their choice . Actually why does someone need to master Chemistry and physics for getting into CSE or why does someone who might not like physics forced to take Mechanical or Civil just because he got into IIT/ NIT. India is a messed up place and everyday you face the realities the resolve to get out of this place only builds up.
FMG here. I guess we had terrific Pharmacology lab in contrast. We got to apply Atropine, Pilocarpine in the rabbit eye, injected vasopressors in rabbits, beta blockers and it's effects on heart/CVS, Anaesthetic agents on mice, rabbits among many other things.
3:01 naaah No it is not about money or resources. The thing is that there are a lot of students who apply for medical colleges. Last year 15 Lakh students sat for NEET. So the admission council wants to reduce their work and make it less and less work for themselves. They just prepare a little tough exam NEET and thats it. Their aim is to eliminate as many students as possible because the seats are very very less compared to number of candidates. Aaand if one cracks the NEET exam and gets good score IT MEANS ONE THING THAT that student did a lot of dedicated hard work in studying and that is what admission council is looking for and once that hard working person gets in he/she will be shaped or helped to become a Good doctor. And things are changing and have changed a lot for better in recent years career counseling has increased significantly, it is still less but India is on the right track, Sir. 🙏🏼
Yeah that's damn true that one MCQ exam does not determine your potential to be a doc. Cuz I know many of my fellow MBBS classmates who topped NEET entrance exams, and ultimately flunked the MBBS exams! This is because there is absolutely no connection between the rigorous MBBS syllabus and clinicals, and the MCQ NEET tests students prepare for! Upcoming NEET students keep in mind, if you top the NEET exam, it does not mean you will top the MBBS exams.
THANK YOU for talking about how ONE MCQ test does not determine if you'll be a good doctor or not . We really need to start evaluating students on many other factors other than just NEET . As of now I think atleast private medical colleges should start admitting students in a system similar to the ones in the UK and the USA ( sort of ) . That way we'll be able to produce doctors of much higher quality and not just students that are pressurised by the society to posses a well paying and honourable job .
My background is in Child and Adolescent Psychology, now Law, but I am serious considering medicine with a view to working in pediatrics. That said, I would be starting my MBBS (MBChB, MD, depending on which University lets me in) - at 40! Curious to see what Dr. A., thinks!?!
Some of the institutes like jipmer won't allow you to practice outside while you're doing your pgs there !!! I've read in their prospectus ........btw you won't get time to have your food during first year pg , so working outside is ....you know not possible

The entrance exam thing is so true . Finally they decided to bring some changes to this memory based,biased, stressful education system in India. Ya they only decided didn't implement. And the reservations!! This is the reason why I will always wish to be a NRI
@5H2 Dheeraj u can't term them as robots coz some ppl r rly passionate abt medical and engineering and some r just pushed into it. Evn if one is very passionate about doing something his/her potential and eligibility will be judged on one 3hr exam and thts rly annoying and has to be changed. And reservation is a problem. Just imagine another person putting the same efforts as u ,coming from the similar financial background, getting same marks as u ,but a much higher rank in these exams coz of caste?.its completely unacceptable. It was probably acceptable many yrs back but right now it's like promoting inequality in the name of reservations which is "supposed" to bring in equality😏
