ALL THE VAULTS! - Episode 3 - Minecraft Modded (New Vault Hunters) 

Pro Tip: the dash ability is very powerful combined with an elytra. propells you very strongly through the air when used.

When you were mining the ores, mine the vault stone to uncover more ores! Also you can equip the pouch in the backpack slot on your character 😊

Notes: -Passive mob farm jars and pens, single block solution -Dash instead of rockets for elytra

Also save yourself a head ache and look up animal farms. You can get massive amounts of passive mobs in them without lag or noise. And you feed them all at once. You’ll need a ton of mob drops as you get higher level in the vaults. 22:07

beef skipping over the +6 legendary modifier, PAIN.

It's always nice watching someone discover the mechanics for themselves for the first time. Like, yeah, it might not be 'optimal play', but the experimentation and journey are a part of it, and sometimes it takes a new player to come up with cool new ideas. I love that you tested which style of pathfinding to the entrance works better for you!

The timelapse of you looting the vault was actually very satisfying

Beef, There are more ores hidden behind the vault stone. Those POIs are called dig sites, & have ores hidden in them. It is great seeing you enjoying the pack. Also, “magic” skills like fireball build damage off ability points and wands will help raise AP where shields either give block chance or thorn damage.

If you want animals, you can craft animal pins and capture animals in jars and place them in the pins. No noise and all stored in one block. Iskall has some at his base if you wanted to see how they look! Btw, you’re doing great!

The vault compass is unlocked using knowledge stars, it’s very useful in vaults and if you shift right click hold you can change where it is linked to.

I like the decision to include the vault runs in the form of timelapses and just going back to normal speed when you encounter something new/special/exciting! Before the Hermit VH series I hadn't watched any VH youtube content but only streams so I don't know if you took inspiration from for example Iskall but either way, it's imo a good solution to keep us viewers in the loop on how the vaults are going without making the episodes too long.

It will be interesting to go back to these videos after you have another dozen runs under your belt just to see how much you manage to optimize your process. Like, you currently have multiple levels of vein miner -- but you never use vein miner while mining out ores. And you have a button to auto-sort chests, but you currently loot them in their default state. And you have an add on to make your pouch automatically pick up loot, but you still manually fill it with inventory. And then you have all the tools and jewels which you briefly looked at, but didn't play with to discover what the capacity means or how the various effects change how the tools work. I wonder how many of these things you will figure out to navigate through trial and error and how many will just get shown to you by Iskall.

Tip for looting chest, look up in keybinds: sort target inventory and set it to scrollwheel. This wil compact the loot to a couple slots.

Hey Beef at 10:50 that little logo and gleam means it is a legendary role on that prefix. Also the capacity is how much the tool can hold on jewels which means if you want multiple modifiers you have to get creative. The affinities means you can mine that chest or coin pile faster. Also try and use the chest scrolls as some of them can give you crazy chest space.

Great episode Beef! You can store your ingredients for the forge/ tables inside the tables for some added storage and save room in your chests, and the vault compass is a mod you need to learn with a knowledge star. Happy Vaulting!

I cried inside at the sped up vaults. 😢😢

I'm so glad that the Hermits are expanding out to other areas of Minecraft. Request: This Vault Hunters Series would be a great opportunity for more Duo plays. It was awesome seeing the Hermits together in the initial episode. The Vaults are so expansive, having 2 or more players raid one at the same time would be rife with those unexpected moments incredibly entertaining.

Pro Tip: Once inside a Vault, just go straight until you get to the end. Place two or three unique blocks (Cut Sandstone, Cracked Stone) only in areas you enter so you know that is the way home.

Beef, the boots you rolled after the second vault have a legendary modifier on them, you can tell by the sparkle to it. Not only is it legendary, but you rolled the max value for it! Those are +9 armor boots, highly recommended you use them!

As you go through the quest book, you'll be able to understand more of the VH mechanics. What I'm looking forward to the most is when you craft your first Knowledge Star! Imagine the cool mods you can unlock, like storage and Create. It'll help with inventory management for sure!

Sorry for the double post, but google on Phone did not let me edit the last post. You may like animal pens and the glass jar to capture the passive mobs to make your farms. They stay quiet as you need them in a single block solution that reduces server lag.

Hey Beef! Quick tip about using your Pouch to make looting more efficient. Your pouch has a Pickup upgrade installed, so any items that you pick up off of the ground automatically go into the pouch. You have a magnet now, too, so when you're looting chests in a Vault, rather than shift-clicking into your inventory, just hold Q to throw items onto the ground, automatically collect them using your magnet, and they'll go directly into your pouch if they can! Saves a lot of time manually putting things into pouches, and it gets even more efficient once you start making more pouches and filtering them.

Always cool to see new people getting into Vault Hunters. I've got some tips / recommendations for you if you want. I'm making this as I progress through the vid, so sorry if the format is a little weird. Of course its completely fine to disregard this, play the game however you w ant :) There might be some spoilers in this, so if you want to figure everything out on your own I'd probably skip over this. Expertise Points I'd recommend putting your first 3 into Bounty Hunter. At 3 points it'll allow you to take 2 bounties at a time. If you don't already know, bounties are essentially quests. Sometimes they can be completed in the overworld, but most of the time you have to complete them in the vault. They give you vault XP as well as some juicy rewards. After that I'd go Fortune, but that'll take some time. Mystery Eggs These are super valuable mid to late game. They allow you to create either one block mob farms or sped up versions of traditional Minecraft mob farms. You can transform them into a hostile Mystery Egg which guarantees that the egg will be a hostile mob. You cant do much with them right now since you'll need either Cagerium of Ispawners to make those mentioned farms. I'd just save them up for when you get one of those unlocked. Passive Mob Farming I noticed that you have a chicken pit, there is an alternative way to farm passive mobs without an knowledge requirement. Look up 'Animal Pen' and 'Animal Jar' in JEI. You'll find recipes for a jar which can 'capture' a specific mob. Get enough of them and plop them into the 'Animal Pen' once you've placed it down. Now you can right click the pen with the mob's favourite food and they'll breed. You can also just hit the pen with a sword which will kill one mob, dropping their items. This is especially important on a server as from what I've heard it can greatly reduce lag. Inside the Vault - Knowing where you are For your first knowledge star, I think the Vault Compass would be something you'd enjoy. It points towards the entrance to the vault, allowing you to find your way home every time. This way you don't have to worry about leaving markers around the vault. Vault Sickles Someone mentioned this in the comments but they didn't really fully explain it so I though I'd add it. Vault sickles are one of the different vault tools in the modpack. They have the 'Reaping' modifier which makes them behave similarly to shears (They mine leaves, vines moss...). You can add additional modifiers to them through the jewel applicator using jewels. This allows you to make a dedicated tool for breaking chests (which is quicker than opening and looting). Adding all affinities (Wooden + Ornate + Gilded + Living) to a sickle allows you to quickly break all chest types. The point in putting them on a sickle is that you wont accidently break any blocks behind the chest as those blocks are usually wood, stone, or sand. I'd wait until you unlock Chromatic Steel tools before making one of these. That gives you 150 capacity to play with, which is more than 100 which you get on chromatic iron tools. Elytra Again someone has already mentioned it but get the Dash ability and give it a key bind (I use R). It gives you a nice boost and allows you to go pretty far if you jump right before dashing. When using the elytra it acts sort of like an unlimited firework with a cooldown. Maybe get it to level 2 or 3 and it'll be a great addition. About the 'infusing with an elytra' you cant. BUT if you unlock a specific vault trinket, you'll be able to have elytra flight while wearing a chest plate. If I've made any errors feel free to correct me so that other people know :)

I was cheering when you tried to use something else than "max dmg, max defence-bonkabonk". Fireball ftw! 🔥

Beef, the pouches are top tier! The filter will filter items and voids void items past a stack. Stack upgrades can do two stacks in one ie. 128 items! Oh look into animal pins/ jars. They are lag free and noise free!

If you're struggling with your way in the vault, research the vault compass then craft it, it's quite handy.

You can use your shulker boxes the way you have been using your pouch and your pouch can go in that extra item bar your magnet is in. I am pretty sure your pouch can also auto pick up items. Also sickles make clearing the chests easier, you may even be able to use vein miner the get multiple chests at once. Not trying to backseat, I just know I would be mad at myself if no one told me.

Pro tip Mr Beef if you keybind the auto sort for chest it will allow you to loot a lot faster and you can go around the Vault looting faster. You're also missing out on a lot of ore when you don't mine out the other blocks around the ore so if you use vein miter you'll see that there's more or behind the Vault Stone.

Hi Beef, you don't need a tool to mine the coins. That'll just burn up some tool durability if you continue to do so - fists or other things are just as quick :)

Bring your kiwis! They add time to the vault, in case of emergency.

Also save those mystery eggs! You can change them into hostile mob eggs later for use in a special spawner for farming.

The boots you got from the second vault have a legendary modifier(that’s what the sparkle next to armor +6 means) meaning they are very strong for this level

For the "lens" part of the arch you should make than into a HUGE VAULT PORTAL!

There's an elytra trinket that let you use the chest plate at the same time

Just a hint - if you want simply decorative buildings the arch will be fine. To be actually useful in modded you need a large base with a lot of space though. It's going to be damn near impossible to make a base with a bunch of tiny houses usable in a heavy modpack.

10:50 On the vault gear the implicits, prefix and suffixes all add together. The level 7 ones have 9 armor (3 implicit, +6 prefix) instead of the 6 on the level 3 ones.

Hey Beef, don't forget to look at the modifiers on your vault gear! The legendary boots for example have +6 armor which makes them better than the ones you already have.

Beef, you can put your backpack into the "Back" slot above magnet, it will save you one slot in inventory. Also, you can craft a sickle to mine the chest in the Vault faster. Finally, you can learn Dash skill and use it as a substitute for rockets.

you can save the mystery eggs and craft them into hostile mob eggs. you can then craft a special spawner after getting a certain mod unlocked and you can make a super powerful mob farm. Israel does this in his latest video on his solo survival play through of vault hunters.

As someone who has watched Iskall and Stress play vault hunters for a while it’s really nice to see someone experiencing it all for the first time again. You’re doing great Beef!

Amazing episode beef! You unlocked the vein miner but never used it in vault! It is quite handy to clear those vault stones next to those ores.

my husband and i most always skip the first vault room in case we have extra time coming back to portal, there's some easy looting left right there. researching elevators might be good for your base, very easy to craft.

Incase you haven’t been told yet, you should throw things out of the chest and pick them up off the ground, and the shulkers will pick them up for you, unless that’s an upgrade or sometime. I saw Iskall doing it.

Base location is going to be super sick. There should be a config option to reduce the fog for better visibility.

You really should mine the Vault Stone inside of the Vaults. Because most Ore is hidden within the Vault Stone Vein.

Absolutely fantastic episode, Beef!! You are a VH addict's dream LPer right now. You crafted so many tool stations and went through quite a few quests! And you were able to craft your first elytra! PAG as us dylans (Iskall's BOIs aka Buddies of Iskall) would say lol 25:29 Your excitement on putting every jewel on one tool - I'm afraid I'm going to have to rain on your parade a bit. xD As you can see, you are WAY over max capacity (-451) on that tool. Capacity is usually 100 to start and so the size of each jewel much add up only to 100 or less to be placed on that single tool. If you look at your jewels, the huge ones (>75) are basically garbage at this point UNTIL you become a jeweler and get the station where you can cut jewels. Everytime you cut a jewel there is a potential for you to lose that jewel. But every time you cut a jewel, you have a chance to make that jewel smaller and smaller and smaller. There are different grades of jewels, the best are Flawless and Perfect (have a look at your current jewels to see if any of them are labeled as such). As for your chicken problem, Iskall came up with an AMAZING GAME CHANGING MOD IDEA for passive mob farming. Look up Animal Jars and Animal Pens in your JEI. It's pretty simple and solves multiplayer server lag due to individual farms.^^ You're going to need a lot of emeralds so I recommend visiting a village and right-clicking a Villager as the mod Easy Villagers is in this pack. You can bring the villager back to your base and put them in a safe place. Make them a fletcher and reroll for the lucrative stick trade (rerolls are a simple mouse click, no breaking and replacing the fletching table). Bring a few villagers back for stick trading and you'll be swimming in emeralds. Also, might be a good idea to build a shop at spawn (or maybe there is a designated shopping district planned already?) to sell your unneeded items like phantom membrane. You can set the currency to whatever you want. Bronze coins, silver coins, emeralds, netherite scrap, whatever you are in need of. I'm so glad you're having fun in this pack, it is so much fun to play and to watch!

Hey Beef, Love the episodes. Some pointers if you want... * In the top right of chests is the sort button, it is super helpful to quickly use it so you can get the stuff out of the chests faster. * You can take the shulker and right click the individual items in your inventory to put the item in the shulker without having to put down the shulker. * I suggest equipping the pouch in your backpack slot (if keybind is set B will allow you to access it once equipped) and disable the void filter for now, and set a filter for the super important things that you want to go in the pouch, like vault diamonds, knowledge, pearls, carbon, vault ores, etc.... * Once you have a Magnet, make sure it is equipped, and instead of clicking to pick up stuff, for the most part (use Q) drop everything from chests (until you have the ability/tools to break them). * Vault Hunters has nerfed Bows, so they are almost useless, especially as you get higher in level. * When outside the vaults, don't forget that you can use your heal keybind too 😉

Love watching you play VH! What I did to track my directions in the vaults before getting a vault compass was to bring in torches. I marked the "doorway/hallway" of each way I came out with a torch high up so I could see it if I ran into a room. Since I only used a torch on one doorway, it made it much easier for me to find my way back. I needed this extra help since I get very turned around when running through a vault, even if I go in a straight line. >.

if u bind “sort target inventory” to click middle mouse, it makes that method of looting chests slightly faster

With your back pack, there is a memory setting under the settings. This lets you program the backpack for you most critical pick-ups. Just a tip.

As you are playing with fireball, you should really use a wand in your off-hand, as it gives you more ability power and fireball scales with that stat.

you can pick up the shulker box then right click on the items with it to automatically put stuff in that box. Saves you from having to put it down first

You should either have your nether portal or vault portal (and always craft a your next vault crystal even if you don't plan on using it yet so that the vault portal is always 'lit') in that hole in the side of the archway, kind of like Grian's S9 nether portal.

set a keybind to sort inventory while you are opening the chest in the vault can save you 1-2mins time in the vault

You should check out what the buttons on the top right of the chests do. Kinda would make them a bit quicker to loot.

As someone who has watched Iskall play this for a year, hearing Beef call it "cutting it close" with three minutes to spare is just... xD At least Beef cares about our hearts as opposed to Iskall who waits to leave untill there's only 2 seconds left!

I glad you enjoy this modpack. Yeah it can be a bit overwhelm at the start, but hey u doing pretty good job there... 100% completion rate still... Oh yeah small tips : -You can put you pouch in the Back bubble slot Beef, also u can access your pouch by pressing B by default. Can also sorting inventory terget with middle click button to speed up looting chest... -Check out "animal jar"n "animal pen", it can store passive mob in a block n still breedable n can be harvested (save up space n less lag). -N about Vault Compass, that is Locked by Research like mod, you will need "knowledge star" (knowledge essence + benitoite gem + vault diamond) to unlock it. It is cheap tho... -N congratz for the wing, now u only need to learn basic dash ability n huala easy fly with just jump + dash ability... Wohoo! Can't wait for next episode!

From watching EEEEEskall I think the shulkers work like bundles, i.e. you can put items into them in the inventory UI rather than having to place the shulker every time.

When in a vault and you find an ore POI you should dig out all the vault rock because there can be other ores hidden in the POI 14:24

Theres a sort target inventory keybind so when you open a chest and press your key it sorts it so its really easy to loot and much quicker
