I think Kenny is the most underrated GBB champ, he is a legend no doubt. Still one of the kings of free style, dude literally won GBB by freestyling mostly, his flow is so on point.
@@tylerhenderson1566 I mean, Napom got defeated by Kenny using only freestyle Napom used one of his best liproll routine and still lost. For me I agree that Kenny is an underated gbb champ (My opinion)
If you are wondering who are the champions of every GBB since 2009 2021 - Colaps 2020 (Online) - Zer0 2019 - Dlow 2018 - Codfish 2017 - NaPoM 2016 - Kenny Urban 2015 - Gene Shinozaki 2014 - Dharni 2013 - Dharni 2012 - Ball Zee 2011 - Skiller 2010 - Marzel 2009 - Marzel We’re going to see so many old and New school 😎
I think the way codfish battle, is the most memorable moments of beatbox history, cuz after that, the next year, every beatboxers developed so much in structure and beatbox pattern. And it is interesting! Cuz he(Codfish) is not just a legend but one of the beatboxer who gives a huge impact! For the beatbox community...!
Dharni also revolutionized the not-completely-just-technical era except I don't think he got that famous from it because of how young beatboxing was at that time. I mean when you see after him is when everything gets more into bass, stage presence, and more melodic. Gene, Kenny, and Napom followed that up slowly progressing the shift and then Codfish just went full in.
I started bbx since 2018, and it because of Codfish, from that year until now, he's legend and will be always my number 1 favorite beatboxer. He's inspired me and, cuz of him, I'm getting more to beatboxing, and... here I am 5 years later🔥🔥🔥 When I suddenly remember who's the champ of gbb 18, I feel a bit old all of the sudden😩
I wonder They didnt already do a champ edition where all of the listed gbb champs + world champs could and would compete. It would be also good for views
So much talent, it was really fun seeing how beatbox has evolved over the years. What this video really highlighted though is how special Codfish is. He completely stood out from everyone else in this video, there is just no one like him. 🐟🐟
@@loco_bbx you could pretty much say that to anyone featured in this video. There is a reason thos guys won the GBB, but I can see that after codfish won the gbb beatboxers became way more musical.
i would say codfish has the best performance during a gbb of all years but d-low is the guy trying everything to stay on top year after year , last kbb was amazing too
with this video I feel like every year beatbox becomes more pleasing to listen, step by step comes to the explosion of 2018-2019 when it started to shine in full capacity 💚
Even in 2018 his win was controversial. If he came back he would probably either not make it through the elimination or be eliminated in the first round. Codfish is great but he can't keep up with the current skill set
@@legalnut9950 codfish has a showcase style, if he tried he could win a wildcard and pass eliminations but it wouldn't be in the top 10. i agree he would really struggle in battles
@@legalnut9950 Codfish is known for being musical but that doesn't mean he can't battle. He does musicality cus it's what he likes doing which is why he stopped doing GBB, but if he were to try to win a GBB I think he could make it much farther than you think. He can go fast and he can hit very precise patterns with very high-quality sounds. He also has some top of the line sounds like his throat and vibration base with a lot of flexibility with patterns and flows due to his musical style. He can also sing like a mf.
Seeing the true evolution of Beatbox is amazing this way. It's crazy to see how far it's come. And how amazingly skilled everyone is and how everyone in the beatbox scene is still striving to evolve and do more. Love it.
By far the most dominant year and it changed beatbox rounds and styles in battles forever was 2018 codfish reign. Some of my favourite sets ever to this day are from that competition.
In my opinion, (Please know that I have only watched some beatbox from after 2017), 2018 was kinda meh compared to other years overall. 2018 felt dominated by a few people (especially Codfish & D-Low). 2019 however is the best overall year for me from what I have seen. Every. Single. Battle. Was. AMAZING. D-Low did amazing and deserved the win, but, other people had amazing battles as well and just watching the winners comp. for 2019 feels like a disservice. Meanwhile, watching the winner's comp. and runner-up comp. for 2018 kinda sums up a lot of what happened that year. IDK, maybe its bias but Codfish just felt like he stole the show in 2018. I do think he deserved 4th in 2019 tho, was nowhere near D-Low's performance that year imo. 2021 also felt similar to 2019 in that every battle is worth watching over and over. Although, 2021 also felt like 2018 where some people's battles were a lot more interesting, (especially with all the mess that was going on in 2020-2021 with Covid and some other stuff which I won't mention, but if yk yk). I feel like in the future we will get a lot less dominating performances and there will be more of a storyline developed through the battles like with 2021. Excited for GBB 2023 and beyond :) !!!
So many good potential competitors , it's impossibile to predict the results. Improver , zeqqa , zero? , Helium , KI , trung bao? , Napom , wing , hiss etc... The level is so high
@@Luke.1779 zekka is one of the closest to gbb champ level but still at this point everyone can loose vs everyone . I mean they alla have unique styles , a lot of experience and crazy techs but i think that stage presence and battle iq will make the difference
On D-Low vs. Colaps during "bump jump"they actually cut the best part of him using inward bass to obliterate Colaps. I was jamming when they cut that clip I was so sad lol whatevez tho
@@andreifelixmalinao3063 Napom can't destroy codfish. Napom can't sing and can't do bases as near as good as Codfish. The only thing codfish can't do is technicality. The decision for the winner between both will be very hard. You'll have to choose between musicality and bass vs technicality and flow.
I say, and this is my personal opinion, that he is the best two GBB people in the world, and there is no one like them yet. They are CodFish and D-low But I also say that there is a person who has a wonderful future if he is lucky, it is ZVD because he is an amazing and wonderful person Thank you Swissbaitbox 💞💞
This is my personal opinion, but I think in 2016 judges gave the win to Kenny simply because Napom got too repetitive, even though he was clearly stronger in the battle against Kenny. By that they showed him that he can't just do the same thing and win. And later in 2017 you can see how much Napom started to change his style and do something new, after which he won in 2017. imho again
