You open destiny to play warmind for the first time, you get flashbanged by the screen, and your eardrums get completely obliterated a second after, you can no longer play destiny as you can't hear nor see.
The fact that Destiny went back to a darker screen and the tone of the theme just showed that dark days were ahead for the guardians and I was all here for it! Especially since this was the first thing I heard when I got back into Destiny after a long break from the game. I was hyped to see what had changed since I last played
Thats when I came back as well. I really loved it, and its honestly funny to me that i missed out on forsaken, considering the hype for it back then, and then I got to experience witch queen, oh baby my neurons were firing!
I'll never forget that moment where I realised I had been humming Savathun's Song since Shadowkeep. A whole (nearly) 2 years before the tune was revealed. S tier work by Bungie there.
It was revealed near the end of Shadowkeep's third season in the Devil's Ruin (I believe) exotic quest in a conversation between Osiris and Shaxx if I recall. He said Eris had been singing a song that was most uncharacteristic of her. He sung "I'm on the moon. It's made of cheeeese!" and he sung it to the tune of the Shadowkeep theme. It was around this time that we had been made aware through lore that it was a like a parasite that infected you once you heard it and then you would sing it or hum it and it would spread. (And we the players had all been infected since then first day of Shadowkeep when we first booted up the game) But it still felt like a long time before we found out, like 8 months we'd been humming it without realizing. It was genuinely great.
@@ARavingLobsteriirc, it was the second season of Shadowkeep where Shaxx sang it, but it wasn’t until Season of Arrivals in the Prophecy dungeon where Eris stated that the specific tune was Savathûn’s Song
Vanilla made me shed some tears for the nostalgia Forsaken made me remember the nights i waited for my clan in the menu screen,a truly magical time Shadowkeep made me remember how this expansion was the turning tide both for me and for the entire game (also the shivers when i heard it the first time on October 1st 2019) Beyond Light made me remember how i was excited to brand Darkness for the first time and to finally see the Deep Stone Crypt The Witch Queen is literally my favourite: the best expansion for me,i loved doing the investigator's job,the Throne World is a fantastic location and i have very fond memories of it
i started to play destiny like 2 weeks after forsaken launched, and boy this bring back some memories, first raid (8 hours scourge of the past), first time making a ascendent challenge, first last wish, conquering crucible to get recluse and moutaintop, good times
Ive been playing D2 since Forsaken which was officially released in PC by Activision. I only listen to this in ost, never seeing game screen. I just came out to say wow!! Thank you for sharing it!!
Cannot give enough credit to the music/sound design leads and creators. Not to mention the UI/Art teams. They cooked on each title screen, regardless if the expansion was good or not, those teams made sure they weren't caught lacking with these title screens and soundtracks!
My first "meeting" with Destiny was in Season of the Splicer. And even after experiencing the entirety of D1, the Beyond Light main theme still hits hard. Imo the best one
Playing D2 during Warmind at 3am had to be a pain from one being blinded by the title screen while playing in the dark to immediately getting deafened by the BWAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMM XD I was there for that but luckily I didn't get blinded or deafened lol. Also I forgot how much of a throwback the Forsaken title was because for me the beginning part when the music drops was my original intro music for my RU-vid videos which I never really used but it's still very nostalgic to me.
0:03 POV: Destiny 2 (eventually) receives its final update and you log on to hear this again after eternity. To those of you who say it won’t happen, stick to it. Hope you’re still enjoying D2 if we’re still playing it in the 2030s
Your attention to detail with the first three seasons is really appreciated; I completely forgot that they even added this extra detail throughout year 1. thanks for the nostalgia bro
I briefly played during Forsaken, but its the Shadowkeep title screen that still haunts me and I STILL expect that one or Beyond Light to show up instead of Final Shape
Shadowkeep is extremely commanding. Not quite as in-your-face as Warmind, but it definitely demands attention. tbf though, I think it’s just been burned into my brain with all the horrible season and expansion launches. I spent so much time in queue for that year
I love how in Destiny Vanilla to Shadowkeep the bungie logo apears with a white background, but from Beyond Light the background turn into a black type, meaning that now we already use the Darkness
Forsaken was just so special. Its what finally made me a guardian after always wanting to get into destiny but never did. Something about forsaken man. Ive been in love ever since
Beyond Light still gives me chills at the beginning. My favorite theme. Its like BWAAAA Bungie deletes half the game.... But there is still hope... With the power of stasis.. Bwaaa its toxic in crucible.. WE'RE GONNA COOK A COUPLE SEASONS LATERREE YEAAAH 😂
its really a non issue, but i wish i could just change the title screen to just destiny 2 or destiny and choose my title music. also the ability to choose orbit tracks would be cool too.
hot take i miss the white loading screens and menus n shit. maybe im just nostolgic but the feeling of being blasted with that flashbang when i open the game hits different
Lightfall is by far the best music-wise but Forsaken is so nostalgic man. Definitely very close between it and Final Shape being my favorite content-wise.
Funny detail I noticed, but from shadowkeep up until witch queen, every major expansion theme had some part of Savathun’s song in it, mostly the beginning though, the same song could be heard throughout most major activities and destinations in the game as well, showing Savathun’s influence growing!
Warmind brings back memories of being flashbanged. I also remember forsaken even though being a dark screen would then open to the extremely bright character select screen
Funny how the Beyond Light brings me back to 2020, when I first got into the game a week before it released. Bought the Deluxe edition (dived into the deep end, I know), listened to this opening title screen and felt like I was ready for the cold of Europa. Little did I know back then that I'd become a 4-year sherpa/vault-cleaning veteran who's comfortable where he is now. Cheers to Michael Salvatori, Martin O'Donnell and all the musicians who made these songs worth listening to on loop. They became legend after all.
Want to know what the best title screen overall is? The D1 title screen, you obviously can't beat the OG! Mysterious, peaceful, and hopeful the screen provides. God I wish I can go back to 2014 all over again when the game first came out, booting it up on the 360 just after school... Yet here I am today still using my same exact character since day 1...😥
TFS is probably the most detailed title screen we’ve had. Radial movement behind the logo like usual, but also the additional light and dark corners fading in and out. Another neat detail with the TFS UI is how the director screen subtly changed appearance ad the expansion progressed. First login had a clear but muted look; once the raid was out, darkness tendrils started to fill the background space; after you beat excision on your account the tendrils went away and there is an increased amount of light coming from the center.
Idk if it’s just me but I feel as though the background art (the circle and the diamond within it) have slowly but surely separated over the years until fully becoming separate. Not that it’s significant in anyway, just something I picked up. They are visible during the load in screens I think after pressing start to play
I'm honestly wondering if changing the Light Bungie Logo screen to Dark when we started getting Dark Subclasses in Beyond Light was intentional, or if they were tired of shining the sun in our eyes. Interesting coincidence I guess?
I feel old and its just sad how time flies by but in all honesty, bungie made bangers and i miss the times where they released all of those expansions Tbh i dont regret buying any of these and if i could i would do it again I just cant believe its already been such a long time And if you'd ask me if i would endure all of destiny's history again. Yes. Yes i would. Its genuenly the only game that kept me entertained for ages now and i will be there till the end of it Being said Lets jump right into another year of this franchise ❤️
@@fernandoviana7407for real. If you were to tell me the final shape was going to be as good if not a bigger hit than forsaken 4 weeks ago I could have doubted. Not only was forsaken during a more entertaining time in my life, but also it was such a reimagining of the game that everything felt new. Final shape just feels so polished I can’t help but come back and play the new subclass or keep beating the witnesses ass in arguably the coolest raid fight I’ve done. Watching my favorite streamers take literally 40 hours to take down the witness was crazy. I think the first week of final shape is the strongest week of destiny’s history.
Becoming an adult is accepting that even though the game was significantly worse back then, I will never enjoy Destiny 2 more than I did when I first started playing the game back in Warmind
I love Final Shape's and all, but I hope Bungie does an Age of Triumph style update for the game that brings back the vanilla screen like they did for D1, or hell, let us choose the music.
Not sure if I’m in the minority here but Shadowkeep’s title is one of my personal favorites and I still have a lot of nostalgia from that time period. I started playing D1 in year 1 and was active up until after curse of Osiris in D2 but stopped playing after because of how disappointing it was, but I came back into the game during shadowkeep and have a ton of nostalgia from experiencing it and forsaken for the first time.
Ok this is my personal tier list, from my favorite to least favorite. I judged it by initial drama (first 10 seconds), orchestral chord progression and melody, and the orchestral piece as a whole (start to finish) THIS LIST IS IMO but you can leave your thoughts below: 1) Vanilla D2 2) Forsaken 3) Warmind 4) Beyond Light 5) Curse of Osiris 6) The Witch Queen 7) Shadowkeep 8) Lightfall 9) The Final Shape (I'm really disappointed in TFS's title screen music, it could be so much more meaningful and charismatic, even if it just pointed back at vanilla D1's title screen music would be cool, like doing a 360 turn.)
