Riolu pls. Great job on the video and nice explainations. =) I'm still quite happy overall, considering the amount of cuts VS the total numbers of tracks, and training by hardcore players. Looking forward to offer the next challenge to players. : p
thanks papy, means a lot! compared to the previous Nadeo campaigns from older games the ratio of cutted tracks is very low indeed (especially in stadium and valley). can't wait what you will be coming up with next :)
For sure it would be something for me, but I don't have stadium^2 and canyon is running with 20fps~ on lowest setings for my pc, so I don't think there's sense in buying it :p

Imo, it would be even funnier additionally, if they purposely put hidden shortcuts into the levels, that those who find them recognize as purpose, but for the others the shortcuts are not visible. That was cool. Are there some tracks like these out there? I would love it to just search them for fun :)
IronAperture Sadly creating a map with an intended shortcut is quite a challenge. If you look for cutmaps, usually there is 1 clear cut and the rest of the map is just fucking unoptimized and bad. You often see complete random turn blocks and long huge untested segments of utter crap. im sure nadeo would do better, but intended cuts are not the way to go
With the latest TM2 update, the official mode has become obsolete since now every attempt counts towards the leaderboard, so you can pretty much ignore what I say about it in this video. Before, you had one attempt every five minutes which would contribute to the leaderboards, now it finally changed to the better. In TMUF, you had to pay 10 coppers for each attempt.
riolu! Oh, I didnt know that, I should re-install TM2! I know that it was every 5 minite before and I know that in TMUF/TMNF its for 10 credits. My question was littlebit different, I meant to ask if when you did WR in normal mode it counted as official WR or the WR would had to be done in official mode?

I still love the game, however I'm pretty much done with it as I've been playing it for too long now. I'm getting frustrated with TMUF way too quick nowadays so I'm not really willing to play it as of now. Busy enough with TM2 anyway :P Also, thanks for your nice words, appreciate that man :]

Probably not, as there's just a very small amount of new cuts. B08 cut WR has already been done by Ancaqar a couple of months ago, no need for nino to try that out (while I don't understand the hype around him either as it's usually guys like Dennis or Tomilll pulling off those big cuts, but that's another story).
Riolu, I've discovered you from not long ago as I started Trackmania² Stadium a few weeks ago, I've a question that I would like to ask you, what kind of maps should I train first as a beginner and should I rather finish the solo campain or play on servers?
Both. The solo campaign as well as maps from online servers are possible ways to further improve your skills. As a beginner, I'd advise to stick to the servers with shorter maps first since it's easier to master those and to learn the required tricks for this type of track. Once you've gotten a feeling for the car and its handling (which can take a while, don't give up quickly!), you can give some longer tracks a shot.
Your videos are so smooth and have such good quality, what do you record with and if its fraps what settings ??, i cant get this quality even doe i have a good computer :) or maybe its in the rendering :)
i'm using the ingame recording tool to render the replays out of the game. using fraps or any other recording software is stupid and doesn't offer a good quality at all. for editing the stuff i use camtasia studio 8 or sony vegas. feel free to ask if you have more questions.

I found a cut on a valleymap long time ago, but I'm just not good enough to get that one and can't guarantee it's faster if even working. Anyway if you want I can look for the track again and explain you what my idea was.
It's the Valley C03. The idea is to not jump on the main route after the first halfpipe but rather jump into the side... on the bottom layer of the track. Then just drive that whole part from there until the jump onto the road after the second halfpipe on that lower layer and then jump onto the road again (that jump is blocked in the middle, you would need to take that from the sides). i was actually able to get into the other halfpipe (bottom layer) on the first jump a couple of times,i don't think it will actually be faster for the rest of the map tho,but you get a 1 second lead or so in the 1st cp ^^
Apart from the new Canyon A04 strat there is no new cut as far as I am informed. However, I did actually miss some cuts in this video such as Stadium C01 or D09.
it does make a difference indeed, but apparently noone bothered to try it yet. guess with a good speedslide and great cut you can get it down to .15 at least :)
0:16 This is my concern with cuts and why I cut. You would think after all these years mappers would have learned that cut avoiding is important, right? And as you said in the video it's not like that. After 11 years mappers still can't figure out how to avoid them! I think it's ridiculous that so many new maps still have cuts. The video I asked shortz to make about cp placement wasn't actually a joke to me (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4xWS6KY8USg.html). I want people to actually take time in mapping and make them think about what they are doing. And if mappers can't learn it the easy way they have to learn it the hard way. By cutting their maps and making them pissed, that way they will learn. I'm glad you made this awesome video. We have to raise more awareness! P.S.: I'm not talking about all mappers (obviously), just the ones who didn't learn it yet.
ben3847 great post there, and i have to agree. some really obvious cuts can and should be avoided for a better hunting experience, but to be honest - what would TM be without cuts? :P
